I'll also be demonstrating how to generate barcodes with Inkscape, as well as how to export your work as a PNG file with a transparent background (for those of you who have asked.) This tutorial is for Inkscape version 0.48 and is intended to teach you how to use the software. Need a logo made? Nick, you are a really great designer and you make it clear even by those who don't speak English. I congratulate you.

Hi Nick! Such great tutorials you've made really blow my mind. You just give me the concept that "Ahh... this is how things done in the background" instead of "I just draw the box and the shadow, and then stick them together." Components are covering each other and covered by each other which provides me a new perspective to see the world. Thank you very much. Your videos are just like "How it's made" program on television.

Hi Nick, I assume that you could create this using the isometric grid in the newer version with similar results. Great work and thanks for sharing your knowledge of a great free program.

Really great tutorial! I was blown away by how much the graphic changed its look at 8:02 as you changed the gradient. :)

nice Thing! i Think from this angle of view you should be able to see a tiny part of the box bottom? its a Little confusing to look at the box that way.

Hi Nick, how do we edit shared gradients in version 0.91 r13725? I can only seem to edit single gradients at a time. Thanks
Logos By Nick (2 years ago)
I don't think there's a way to do that just yet.

Thanks for answer, i asked you because the icons look so cool, but the version is a few old, so i supouse that is some theme of ubuntu may be the cause of this good appearence. Other thing that i want to know is the name of the tool that you use it for the video screencast, i am teacher and sometimes i do video tutorials for my students, i can see that you catch the keys and mouse clicks too. Thanks and congratulation for your very good tutorials.

Hey, Nick! I have learned a lot about Inkscape just by watching your tutorials. You're the best using that tool! Is there an easy way to put one letter on each visible face of a 3D box with perspective? I tried using 'object to path' but it's hard to fix the letters' shapes manually. Thank you!
Logos By Nick (3 years ago)
+Fabiano Clavé Thanks Fabiano. That's a little difficult to explain by writing it out, but I'll try to include it into a tutorial in the near future. +versnellingspook explained a method that will certainly work.
Lil' Bastards (3 years ago)
+versnellingspook That worked! Thanks a lot taking the time to help me out!
versnellingspook (3 years ago)
+Fabiano Clavé You can select your letter, then select the box you want the letter in and go to Extensions > Modify Path > Envelope. Make sure both objects are paths though. This will 'fit' your letter into the box you selected, so you should probably first make a smaller box on the face where you want the letters.

Simon Barnsley (3 years ago)
love this Nick, but... where is the base inside the box? sorry ;)
Hea Mees (1 month ago)
+denoogle The base should be ligher tone than the back wall and the walls shadow on the base should be also 45 deg decline from left to right, but you are correct about the visibility
Simon Barnsley (2 years ago)
+denoogle That's what I thought.
denoogle (2 years ago)
That's actually not true. If you drew a line from the bottom left corner of the box to the top right (45 degree angle) you see the edge of the base :-P This is how my box looks like: http://abload.de/img/g7061ibsqm.png
Logos By Nick (3 years ago)
No need to apologize. It was a very valid remark. Thanks for watching!

+Nick Saporito (LogosByNick) my apologies. love the videos.
