To refer to the inmates as "monsters" is passing judgement which is something he abhors himself. It's not contradictory to live in a hypocrisy but it's hypocritical to live in contradiction.

There is no such thing as good or evil. The universe doesn't care about good or evil, humans attach subjective meaning to actions, and that's part of the problem. We spend so much time wondering how some people can do such things....the former is why. And yet, if someone were to hurt my family, I'd want to hurt them back. The psyche is a tricky thing. Mind is always seeking equilibrium.

I could easily be a serial killer. I had a extremely painful childhood, alone most of the time. I find most human beings, if not all to be parasites. Sometimes my urge to kill is so overwhelming that the only way to filter those feelings is through playing violent video games. I was betrayed by most of my family and friends/girlfriends, and sometimes wonder if there were no more laws what I would be capable of. I've found that the only thing stopping me from being a serial killer is law, but also my belief that there is some sort of afterlife and I might be punished for the things I do in this life. If I was a atheist I honestly think I would have killed a long time ago. My father was a complete scumbag to me growing up, I recently found out that he molested my sister when she was a kid. I often fantasize about ways to kill him and get away with it. I distance myself away from other humans because I know what I'm capable of. I spend a lot of time by myself thinking of ways to do wrongs to people that have done wrong to me. My father's side of the family banned me and my mother from going to family events because they divorced. My girlfriend of seven years cheated on me, then seven years later showed up in my life to get back with me. Basically I've figured out that not only are most people in my life complete scumbags, but I am as well. I heard a wise man once say that the best people are the people that realize their a scumbag but try to do good as much as possible, the worst people are people who think they are good people.

From Biblical context, every single person is born out of sin- it refers the fall of man in Genesis. (And the primary purpose through Christ, is to reborn). The "it" (animal) component described by Freud is very much that aspect. We get our ego around 5-8 years (which maintains the needs of the it) and then the super-ego is formed only during 12-15 (which filters/reprimands and guides the ego). The superego (conscious), which Christians call The Holy Ghost, is formed via culture and/or religious surroundings - without the superego, you can eat a human being, smash another's scull in, and do vial and despicable things like murder hundreds every day whilst drinking tea. Sociopaths learns how to cope without having the superego despite their evil nature, but psychopaths are born without any way to develop the superego - so they are unable to act with compassion and feel zero guilt. Sadly most people don't believe you are born out of sin, so they don't care to remedy the problem. AND parents don't know this, they worsen the problem by letting their ill-disciplined children grow up and become monsters.

People nowadays tend to look at life as if it’s in black and white. Everyone is capable of _both_ good and evil, not just one or the other. A man can go out and murder an innocent person and then hold his daughter with genuine love. We’re a unique bunch.

Where is the serial killer in his story?
IG GY (18 days ago)
Nah... I can definitely kill given the option. But I think it wasn't always like this. "Under what circumstances I would do that". The answer is easy. When you feel the need to. When you have no emotional constrqints. When you feel you have nothing to lose.

by the grace of God I think that the spectrum of "good" to "horrible" is temporal fantasy. And children are not safe no matter what ideas, or even precisely because of what ideas, are in your head when you are engaging them. There is the dialog, and there is the focus of the dialog. I wonder what the focus of this dialog is: My experience waking up a slave to unknown forces? The good guy can be very bad depending merely on whose head is digesting the behavior. And outside that head?

These people are in an environment where violence is normal. People don't understand that just because you grew up in a nerf environment and that that is normal to you. These people are in the same situation but a different enviroment and they are used to violence like you are used to nerf life. Don't assume every man that hurts someone is insane. We are all a couple of bad situations away from making devastating decisions.

I have a theory that some level of ignorance, and underestimation is needed by serial killers to operate. I was always taught that if youre going to underestimate someone, underestimate their loyalty to you. It was also an old MP saying to be polite and courteous, with a plan to kill everyone you meet, for that exact reason.

So he's saying he could be a killer or anyone of us could. I think that's what he means. I think any could hearted person could murder if there was pure evil like narcissist sociopaths. Those kinds of monsters should be put down. Their pure evil and will always HARM innocent lives.

My older brother at the age of 28 put my father out of his misery. ..alcoholism and being a Korean war generation mind set killed him long before the oobuckshot...it was the humane thing to do...he didn't want to wither away in a hospital with someone changing his diaper. ..there is No dignity in that...my brother was a manager at a grocery store...graduated high school served in the army worked his ass off never drank...did drugs...played on the lutheran softball league...my father beat him the most growing up...but my brother loved my father and all he wanted was his approval. ..he did 16 years im a level 6 penitentiary. ..he is one of the nicest people you would ever meet...but would just the same beat your skull in with a ball n pein hammer then go make a sandwich...does that make him a bad person???some times I hope someone will end my suffering..but no...

Just FYI, guy wasn’t a serial killer. To be categorized as a serial killer, one must have killed three or more people over the span of months or years, as per the FBI’s original definition. He committed a heinous double homicide, but he’s not a serial killer.

kim andre egenes (3 months ago)
Youre not a serial killer if youve killed only two people. The definition of a serial killer is killing 3 people or more over a period of time. For example if youve killed 10 people in one day, youre not a serial killer, but a mass murderer

I worked at a maximum security prison, as a recreation leader. My best inmate worker, and someone I got along with probably the best of anyone incarcerated, was around my age, and yet one day, he took a shotgun to his mother and father.... he was extremely pleasant, quoted funny movies, and never tried to manipulate me into coercion.
Gregory Dessingue (3 months ago)
This guy is so incredibly articulate and intelligent. Truly I wish to emulate him.
orderof9able (3 months ago)
The ability to appear normal is brought by the possession of intelligence and experience. The smarter and more patient the killer, the greater the potentiality of a successful killer. For the violent types, the easy way is the long way, if you're intelligent enough to figure that out before you make a mistake, that is..

well spoken as always. its funny; somewhat recently i was talking to a coworker about how i was shocked at the similarities between me and one of the columbine shooters in accordance with what i had read from his journals that had surfaced after the attack. my coworker was looking at me like i was a mass shooter waiting to happen lol but truly i remember feeling that same teenage angst and resentment for literally everyone when i was younger. it made me sort of realize what these monsters made jordan peterson realize. i agree with him in the fact that we are all more capable of such terrible acts than we would like to admit. dont get me wrong, there are many maniacs in prison that i will never understand, but there are just as many monsters in those cells that i completely understand.
SpaghettiandSauce (3 months ago)
One of the best points I think Peterson makes is we need to stop thinking of ourselves as "good people who don't do bad things". Because only by understanding that we have the potential for great evil can we be better people.

I think it is BS-empathy is a quality that people have and most mental health so called experts lack empathy since they find emotionslity the opposite of rationality .

I like Jordan Peterson but I don't believe that he or the Prison psychologist were just walking around a max. I spent time in prison, not at the max and there is no way you weren't escorted or maybe I missed that part. Max guys are ruthless and will pull out a shank from their behind and stab you. Some of them are never leaving so this would be fun for them. Also, you would be surprised at how nice and polite Dangerous Offendors are, you would also think that they are short timers but then you find out this nice guy is a DO. I remember one guy, he was telling a story about how he put a bullet in a guys head and smoke was coming out, he killed many and he was in a gang. Guy putting a baby in a microwave, child molesters, guys who walk in on their girl cheating stabbing her 50 times, guys giving HIV to girls...man this world is messed up. A lot of offenders are master manipulators because this is how you survive in jail. The worst manipulators are the prison staff who lie and BS and honestly you learn from them so you can get the hell out of that hell hole.

To listen to a speech or college from professor Peterson, where he is just allowed to speak about his ideas and experiences, is so much better than to see him in an interview with some feminazi where he doesn't get a word in between the screaming and preconceptions that are being fired at him. Thank you for this upload.

His story reminds me of a book called “in cold blood” the store flops back and forth between the family that is about to be murdered and the two guys who are gonna do it the interesting this is the two guys Dick and Perry are a couple of criminals however I can’t remember which one was bragging about being a stone cold killer and clearly being in charge and the other one was quiet and went along however when it got to the part where they decide to kill the family theres a switch the guy who was bragging couldn’t do it while the other guy who you would’ve assumed was a pretty decent fellow turns out to be the complete opposite and just how at the end their roles sorta reversed was always intriguing to me.

I came face to face with a guy that murdered his young girlfriend in Vegas when I was 16. His girlfriends body had not been found yet. She was cut in 20 different pieces under a tarp in the desert 🌵 she was found 3 days later after he had stared me down at a water park. He looked at me like a lion 🦁 looking at a sheep. And he looked right into me to try to see if I was easy prey. I felt my hair prickle in 40 degree heat. He was like an animal and less than a human. Found out later he killed his girl cause she burned the cookies 🍪 he had ordered her to bake for him. He stalked her in his car as she walked - he had all his tools and tarp ready for her in the car. He took her to the desert and killed her.
