This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. Disney deal set to value Fox at more than $75 billion
Disney has agreed a £39billion ($52.4billion) takeover of Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox and its film and TV businesses today.The deal will end the Australian billionaire's personal £11.7billion pursuit of Sky in the UK because the world's most powerful animation company will take his stake.It is still not known if Mr Murdoch, 86, will stay on after the Disney deal is done or hand over to sons James and Lachlan to spend more time with fourth wife Jerry Hall, 61.21st Century Fox's proposed deal to buy Sky is still being investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) amid fears his media empire would be too powerful.The row became so bitter Sky threatened it could shut down Sky News if its sale to Murdoch's 21st Century Fox didn't go ahead.But Disney will now take Mr Murdoch's Sky shares and likely end any competition concerns in Britain.Fox said today it will press ahead with attempts to buy the 61% of broadcaster Sky it does not already own before the Disney deal closes.Culture Secretary Karen Bradley was first asked to make a decision on Murdoch's proposed takeover of Sky in July.University of Westminster professor Steven Barnett said of Disney taking on the deal: 'Compared to Fox, it’s a no-brainer Disney has a wholesome brand image, which is not exactly something you can say about the Murdochs'.Jessica Ground, Head of Stewardship at Schroders, said of the Disney deal: 'It's one less headache for the Government'.The mogul's family will have a stake of up to five per cent in Disney, it is understood, and both the 86-year-old's sons, James and Lachlan, are expected to be worth £1.5bn each as a result.And James, 44, the chief executive of 21st Century Fox, is being lined up to succeed Bob Iger, Disney's chief executive.But Mr Iger will now stay until 2021 after delaying his retirement for a third time.Disney's overtures to buy up rival 21st Century Fox was largely confirmed when rival bidder Comcast pulled out of negotiations on Monday.When done it will herald the break up of the entertainment empire built by Rupert Murdoch over several decades.It will again be more focused on his newspaper businesses in the UK.Bob Iger, 66, has delayed his retirement three times due to a lack of obvious replacements, but James Murdoch could be the heir.The takeover is expected to see Disney acquire movie studio 20th Century Fox, cable networks including FX and National Geographic, Fox's regional sports networks, Endemol Shine and India's Star, as well as Fox's 39pc stake in satellite broadcaster Sky.A new company set up by Fox would be left with Fox Sports and Fox News, with shareholders given stakes in the spin-out and in Disney.Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch would continue to run Fox's broadcast businesses.The assets to be bought by Disney were worth about $60bn (£45bn), although the broadcaster yesterday said that figure was not firm.Analysts say the takeover will bulk up Disney's content rights – giving it access to franchises such as X-Men, Avata

5 Reasons Why I Don't Buy Lepin LEGO Clone Sets & Why I took down one of my most popular videos!

Over 500 thumbs up AND 500 thumbs down! But, I’ve taken that video down. That video wasn’t meant to cause offence but I got a lot of negative comments about some of the reasons I gave. Some of the points I made were literally just things that my viewers have said to me that I repeated, and although I didn’t state them as facts or even say they were my opinion, some people got very angry. But I still want to tell you why I don’t buy Lepin, and so in this video I’m going to give you 5 reasons why I don’t buy Lepin. 5) They copy LEGO. Personally, it does not sit well with me morally to buy from a company that copies from another one. Sometimes, I use the word counterfeit, which doesn’t go down very well with some of you, so I won’t use that work. LEGO thinks it’s counterfeit, that’s why they launched a lawsuit in China against Lepin. But what do you think? Here’s the LEGO Ghostbusters firestation, here’s the Lepin Firestation, what do you think??? The bricks aren’t copyrighted but the artwork on the instructions and boxes are. LEGO pays a lot to the likes of Disney to make Star Wars themes sets. I can understand that it’s difficult to stop a company selling the same collection of bricks that can be used to build a certain model, but I think when the copying is this blatant, it needs to be stopped. 4) Following on from that, people often say that they don’t buy LEGO because it’s too expensive and that because Lepin is cheaper, it’s better. But one of the reasons Lepin is cheaper is that they don’t have to pay Disney and other companies for the licenses, they don’t have to pay to develop the designs, they literally just have to copy what LEGO have done. With that in mind, if everyone stopped buying LEGO and just bought Lepin, LEGO would go bankrupt and close. Along with LEGO, all the great designs would disappear, as Lepin don’t design anything. Is LEGO overpriced? Yeah, sometimes. But I don’t buy Lepin because I want to support the company that designed the sets. If you don’t want to spend the money on LEGO, then why not buy from some of the other LEGO compatible companies like the ones in the list I made that I’ll link to below. 3) LEGO is better made. LEGO bricks are accurate to 0.002 mm, thinner than a human hair. I’ve never had a LEGO brick that didn’t fit together exactly as it was supposed to. By contrast it’s common to get Lepin bricks that don’t fit snuggly together, or that won’t fit together at all, or even worse, just fall apart. Long Lepin plate bricks also have a tendency to bend or warp by themselves, something that LEGO just wouldn’t stand for. Also, the colour printing in LEGO instructions is first class, making it easier to identify the colour of the bricks you need for your build. 2) I prefer the LEGO experience. When you buy from Lego you get a nice box and instructions. When you buy from Lepin you often just get a bag of bricks. Nowadays you don’t always even get instructions as the customs in some countries are confiscating Lepin sets. Another controversial thing I’ve said before is that I’ve never had a brick missing from a LEGO set, whereas I know that Lepin sets are more likely to have missing pieces. It’s also nice to be able to go to my local supermarket and come home with a LEGO set instead of waiting at least a week, more likely two or more for a package to arrive from China. 1) Resale Value. LEGO holds its value really well. In fact, many sets soar in value when they’re discontinued. Lepin on the other hand is actually very difficult to sell. eBay remove Lepin listings, and you won’t find them on Amazon either. This means that you’re either going to have to hold on to Lepin forever, or throw them away or sell the bricks by themselves at a great financial loss - so while it might seem like a bargain in the short-term, you might find yourself losing out in the long run.

A Nike, Gildan, Hard Rock Cafe Jerusalem and Disney to name a few. Got these at my local Value Village, which is a subsidiary of Savers. Savers is a not for profit company, meaning that they do have a business goal of making money. I believe the store is overpriced and would not recommend shopping there unless you know your prices. It’s been a while since I approached the topic of customer loyalty. All of the tips, ideas, tactics, and techniques I write about are about driving a better customer service experience, which can (and hopefully will) lead to customer loyalty. The concept of repeat business, and ultimately customer loyalty is huge. A small increase in loyalty, just as little as one or two percent, can have a dramatic positive impact to your top and bottom line numbers. So, with that in mind, here are five ideas, a few of them revisited from the past, as well as some new ones, that will help you create that coveted loyal customer. 1. Don’t Confuse a Loyalty Program with a Marketing Program: The first thing that pops into my head when I’m asked about loyalty program is the mistake that many companies make when designing a loyalty program. Some companies think they have a loyalty program, but it is actually a marketing program, and there’s a big difference. If when you take away the perks and the rewards, you may lose the customer, then what you really have is a marketing program. The best companies have loyal customers because of the overall experience, not the perks and rewards. 2. Create an Emotional Connection: There is a big difference between satisfied customers and loyal customers. Satisfactory is a rating. Loyalty is an emotion. Find out a way to connect with your customers. Make them feel special. Thank them for their business. Treat them like they want to be treated. 3. Personalization and Customization: The concept of the personalized experience is a hot topic these days. With all of the data we are able to gather on individual customers, there is no reason we can’t give a customer a personalized and tailored experience. 4. Create Confidence: The old saying goes that people want to do business with people they know, like, and trust. The knowing and liking is easy. The trust is the hard part. Earn the customer’s trust by creating a consistent and predictable above average experience – all of the time. Customers want to know what to expect. No surprises. Consistency is key. When they trust you, they will continue to do business with you. 5. Break Down Customer Loyalty into Bite Size Chunks: Most people think customer loyalty is about a lifetime. Well, it’s not. The goal is about a lifetime, and a lifetime is a long time. How do we get a customer to be loyal to us for a lifetime? That’s huge. Let’s make it easier. Rather than a lifetime, focus on the next time. Every time. So, ask yourself what I call the Customer Loyalty Question: What are you doing right now to make sure the customer will come back the next time he or she needs what I sell? Think next time, every time, and it just may turn into a lifetime. To wrap this up, the value of customer loyalty is obvious. Loyal customers not only do more business with the companies they are loyal to, they will also spend more each time they do business. And, when they are loyal, they talk. Word-of-mouth marketing is the best marketing there is. Combine the value of the lifetime customer with the value of their recommendations and the payoff to your customer service and experience efforts are huge.
