Happy Birthday William Shakespeare
A slight angle on Will the Warwickshire Wonder. Posted on St George's day, also Shakespeare's birthday. Allegedly. The Text: April the twenty third ________________ Today it is his birthday . . . Will the Swan An' if it will or no, Will's still The One Whose quill oe'rruns with iambs freshly gilded While none yet turns a line as sweet as Will did. On such a day, I'd have him at my side "So much ado," he'd say, "let instinct guide" My falt'ring hand would still . . . aye, there's the rub Perchance he dreams: RETURN!. . . "Let's to the pub!" __________________________________________

Happy Your Birthday Shakespeare For Us
A well known Shakespearean soliloquy about life being "... a tale told by an idiot ..." is updated by robots for robots. This evolution of drama into robotics is only fitting and a much anticipated historical development. The great literary critic Harold Bloom in his book - Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human - credited William Shakespeare with making us what we are. Thus it is inevitable that humans will invent robots to pay back their inventor. Check out this contemporary digital celebration of Shakespeare's 452nd Birthday (April 23, 1564) for a preview of how robotic thespians will further enhance the drama of the genius who is Shakespeare. William Shakespeare, thanks for adding all your imaginary friends to our lives.

Homeland star Damian Lewis marks Shakespeare's 450th birthday
Actor Damian Lewis has marked Shakespeare's 450th birthday by starting an all day reading of the playwright's sonnets at the Guildhall in London Golden Globe-winning Homeland actor Damian Lewis read sonnets at Guildhall Library in London on Wednesday in celebration of the 450th anniversary of the Bard's birth. A packed audience gathered at the library to hear the actor illustrating Shakespeare's words resonate as powerfully today as they in the 1500s. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564, Shakespeare became an actor and writer for the Lord Chamberlain's Men -- later to be renamed the King's Men. It was through his prolific writing that the Bard truly made his name. His early works were mainly histories and comedies such as 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'The Merchant of Venice', which first appeared during the 1590s. By 1598 he had earned a name for himself as a poet and playwright, even performing several of his works at royal court for Queen Elizabeth I. His influence on the English language is so vast he is credited for coining numerous English phrases such as "Green-eyed monster" (Othello), "Fair play" (King John) and "In a pickle" (The Tempest). Shakespeare Comedy Sketch by the Beatles
OMG this is FUN! The Beatles' now legendary live skit on BBC television in 1964, in honour of Shakespeare's 400th birthday, the Beatles performed this play-within-a-play on "Around the Beatles." Act V, Scene I text http://shakespeare.mit.edu/midsummer/midsummer.5.1.html (You've got to scroll down a third of the page, to the stage direction "Enter Pyramus and Thisbe, Wall, Moonshine, and Lion", that's where the skit starts) Paul especially appears to be having the time of his life here. The audience's jeers are actually a part of this play's classic performance, not the audience showing disrespect for the Beatles themselves as some Americans-not familiar with this play-have assumed. This is Pyramus and Thisbe from "A Mid- Summer Night's Dream". This "play within a play" opened Shakespeare's classic comedy as was shown on television in 1964. and though the Beatles take some liberties with it here (this normally follows MSND) it is nonetheless a pretty ACCURATE presentation of it,lol. This is all in good fun.
