In this example, we are grouping cities by country. You can only select the elements of a group but not the group itself. <select id="selectMenu"> <optgroup label="USA"> <option value="1">New York</option> <option value="2">Los Angeles</option> </optgroup> <optgroup label="India"> <option value="3">New Delhi</option> <option value="4">Bangalore</option> </optgroup> </select> Dropdownlist button icon : Button icon is the image that you see on the right handside of the dropdownlist. The default button icon is ui-icon-triangle-1-s. You can change button icon using the icons option $('#selectMenu').selectmenu({ icons: { button: 'ui-icon-circle-arrow-s' } }); List of all jQuery icons http://api.jqueryui.com/theming/icons To control the width of the selectmenu, use width option. The width is in pixels. $('#selectMenu').selectmenu({ width : 200 }); How to retrieve the selected item value and label : Use the select event of the selectmenu. This event is raised when an item is selected. $('#selectMenu').selectmenu({ select: function (event, ui) { alert('Label = ' + ui.item.label + ' ' + 'Value = ' + ui.item.value); } });

jquery tooltip widget

08:32
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/06/jquery-tooltip-widget.html In this video we will discuss jQuery tooltip widget with examples. To get a tooltip without using jQuery all you do is set the title attribute. At this point when we hover over the element the content that is specified as the value for the title attribute will be displayed as the tooltip. jQuery Tooltip widget replaces native tooltip and allows lot of customization 1. Display other content than just the title, like inline footnotes or extra content retrieved via Ajax. 2. Customize the positioning, e.g., to center the tooltip above elements. 3. Add extra styling to customize the appearance, for warning or error fields. In the following example label element display the native tooltip where as the textbox displays jQuery tooltip HTML <label id="lblName" for="txtName" title="Full Name">Name</label> <input id="txtName" type="text" title="Your full name as it appears in paasport" /> jQuery $('#txtName').tooltip(); In the following example we are calling tooltip() function on the document object, so this will display jQuery tooltip for all the elements that have title attribute $(document).tooltip(); You can also use the content option, to specify the content for tooltip. When both title attribute and content options are specified, the content specified by the content option will override the content specified by the title attribute. HTML <input id="txtName" type="text" title="Your full name as it appears in paasport" /> jQuery $('#txtName').tooltip({ content : '<u>content option</u> tooltip overriding title attribute tooltip' }); content option supports multiple types. string or a function. HTML <input id="txtName" type="text" title="Your full name as it appears in paasport" /> jQuery $(document).ready(function () { $('#txtName').tooltip({ content: toolTipFunction }); function toolTipFunction() { return 'Tooltip from a function'; } }); Set track option to true to make the tooltip follow the mouse HTML <input id="txtName" type="text" title="Your full name as it appears in paasport" /> jQuery $('#txtName').tooltip({ track: true }); show and hide options can be used to animate the showing and hiding of the tooltip. Both of these options support multiple types. For the detailed description please check the following jquery documentation page http://api.jqueryui.com/tooltip In the following example we are using a JavaScript object, to specify the animation duration, effect and delay while the tooltip is being shown and hidden HTML <input id="txtName" type="text" title="Your full name as it appears in paasport" /> jQuery $('#txtName').tooltip({ show : {delay:10, duration:500, effect: 'slideDown'}, hide: { delay: 10, duration: 500, effect: 'slideUp' } });

How does Google knows what you have in your mind? Google gets the values from some database and display it as a list as soon as you enter some characters into the search box. You can also create a Google Suggest like feature in your website. It is simple to implement using jQuery UI Autocomplete. If you do not know how to reference jQuery UI files correctly, see this video: http://youtu.be/vUUNH0zUeOg You just need to have the suggestions with you either in an array or populated as a JSON object (from a database or from some other sources). You then have to call the autocomplete() method and set the value of source options to an array or string of suggestions. You can also populate a list of labels and enter their corresponding values in the text box (something like country code or currency code). In this video, we will see how to enable dates after a specific date using minDate option and how to enable dates before a specific date using maxDate option. These options are really useful when you have to enable or disable consecutive dates in jQuery UI Datepicker. You can set the value of minDate and maxDate in the form of a Date object, number or string. If you set the value of minDate to new Date(2015, 0, 5), then dates till 5th January 2015 will be disabled. In other words, only dates from 5th January 2015 will be selectable or clickable. If you set the value of minDate to -2, then only dates from day before yesterday (2 days before today) will be enabled. If you set the value of minDate to -1m (y for year, m for month, w for week and d for day), only dates from one month before will be selectable. If you set the value of minDate to 0, only dates from current day (today) will be enabled. Similar is the case with maxDate. You just need to use the datepicker method. The Datepicker widget offers a number of options to customize your date picker. Many times, you will have to make some of the dates disabled or non-selectable. If you are developing an appointment form where you should not give appointments on holidays or Sundays. In that case, it would be better to disable those dates so that user will not select those dates even by mistake. You can accomplish this using beforeShowDay option. You need to return an array where the first item in the array needs to be true or false based on whether you want the date selectable (true) or non-selectable (false). In this video, we will make all Saturdays and Sundays as well as January 1st non-selectable. If you do not know how to write jQuery code easily and simply, see this video tutorial. http://youtu.be/ifus3baASaQ To know how to mark holidays in jQuery UI datepicker, see the video at http://youtu.be/Aj00lQlMVPU To know how to enable dates before/after specific dates in jQuery UI datepicker https://youtu.be/tNAmUH_RsrI To know how to format selected date in jQuery UI datepicker https://youtu.be/zlZnAqYPZVc

jQuery video tutorial 10 - jQuery CSS Method

11:07
jQuery CSS() Method: The jQuery CSS() method is used to set one or more CSS style(s) to the selected HTML element(s). It is also used to get the value of a CSS style applied to the selected HTML element(s). Setting the single CSS style or property: Syntax: $(selector).css(“css-property”,”value”); It helps us to select any html element(s) targeted by the given selector and apply the given CSS property. Ex: $(“#firstp”).css(“background-color”,”red”); It selects any html element(s) whose id attribute value is set to firstp and applies the CSS property background color to red . Setting multiple CSS styles or properties: Syntax: $(selector).css({“css-property1”:”value1”,” css-property2”:”value2”,….}); It helps us to select any html element(s) targeted by the given selector and apply the given set of CSS properties. Ex: $(“#firstp”).css({“background-color”:”green”,”color”:”white”}); It selects any html element(s) whose id attribute value is set to firstp and applies the CSS properties background color green and text color white . Getting the value of a single CSS style or property: Syntax: $(selector).css(“css property”); It helps us to select any html element(s) targeted by the given selector and return the value of a given CSS property. Ex: alert($(“#firstp”).css(“background-color”)); It selects any html element(s) whose id attribute value is set to firstp and returns the value of background-color CSS property. The current implementation of the CSS() method in jQuery allows us to set multiple CSS properties to the selected HTML element(s), but only allows us to get one CSS property at a time. ======================================================== Follow the link for next video: https://youtu.be/HpRdrhCq158 Follow the link for previous video: https://youtu.be/UvMuWgBzIHc ========= For more benefits & Be up to date =================== Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/chidrestechtu... This is continuation to Part 74, in which we we have implemented accordion by building h3 and div element pairs using jQuery. We can offload this responsibility to the asp.net repeater control. Steps to modify the example in Part 74, to use asp.net repeater control Step 1 : Add a reference to the ASMX web service a) In the Solution Explorer, right click on the project and select Add - Service Reference b) In the Add Service Reference dialog box, click the Discover button. This should discover the CountryService.asmx c) In the Namespace textbox, type Services and click OK Step 2 : Add a new WebForm to the project. Copy and paste the following code in the code-behind file using System; namespace Demo { public partial class WebForm1 : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Services.CountryServiceSoapClient client = new Services.CountryServiceSoapClient(); repeaterCountries.DataSource = client.GetCountries(); repeaterCountries.DataBind(); } } } Step 3 : Copy and paste the following HTML and jQuery code in the ASPX page <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="WebForm1.aspx.cs" Inherits="Demo.WebForm1" %> <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script src="jquery-ui.js"></script> <link href="jquery-ui.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#accordion').accordion(); }); </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="accordion" style="width: 600px"> <asp:Repeater ID="repeaterCountries" runat="server"> <ItemTemplate> <h3> <%#Eval("Name") %> </h3> <div> <%#Eval("CountryDescription") %> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> </div> </form> </body> </html> Please note : You can also use the ASP.NET ListView control instead of Repeater control
