Candy style and candy fashion take center stage on Ms. Candy Blog shares bon bon/candy shaped fascinator, candy necklace and candy ring this week. The fascinator is custom made, while the necklace is by Simone I. Smith, and ring by Kate Spade.
Hey Sweeties! It’s Ms. Candy Blog and today we’re going to talk about candy style. I created Ms. Candy Blog because I took a look around and saw candy was being used in beauty and fashion and style and I didn’t find anywhere on the web or on YouTube that talked about that candy in beauty and fashion and style. So this is the place to do it!
Today we’re going to talk about something called the bon bon and how it appears in fashion and beauty. The bon bon is candy, usually in a round shape, that is a confection that can stand on its own. And then often a bon bon is covered up in some other kind of candy. For example, all the candy you see in a valentine shaped box during Valentine’s Day; those are all bon bons. What’s inside can stand on its own as a candy and then its covered over in white chocolate or dark chocolate or milk chocolate. And they’re called bon-bons.
Bon means “good” in French. Like “bon appetit” which means “good appetite”. So today we’re going to look at the bon bon. I have 3 examples today that I’m wearing of the bon bon. The first would be this, what’s called a “fascinator”. A fascinator is a headpiece usually worn by women and it used to have wool or feathers. Today the fascinator has gone through a number of iterations and you’re usually seeing the royal family wearing them. So I created my own fascinator today made out of a piece of styrofoam, some sequins, and tissue paper on a headband. So that’s my candy shaped, bon bon fascinator.
The next thing I wanted to talk to you today about being a bon bon and candy style is my necklace. It’s in the round shape and it’s wrapped like a candy, like a bon bon--a round shaped candy that something would be inside of. This particular necklace was by Simone I. Smith, who is the wife of rapper LL Cool J and a cancer survivor. Simone has a number of candy shaped--lollipop and candy necklaces and these are just one of those pieces I happen to pick up well, because I’m Ms. Candy Blog.
And the last piece I wanted to share with you is my ring and it is in the shape of a bon bon. And it is done by Kate Spade and it’s known in her Fairgrounds collection. So this is an example of candy style, candy fashion.
What’ve you seen out in the market in terms of candy, in candy beauty and candy style. Have you done your nails to look like a certain candy? Have you maybe done a face of makeup that resembles your favorite candy, or maybe you’ve seen things in the media, things in Fashion Week, pictures on Instagram maybe or on Pinterest, or in your favorite magazine. I want you to share those with me.
