Under the Sea Workshop - Sea of Textures and Magical Mermaid Projects

04:24
In this short video, I share the projects my students created during our Under the Sea workshop. My friend Tina, who is also a fellow scuba diver, selected this theme. Workshop participants used a variety of Stampin' Up! products for creating these cards, tags and bookmarks. Stamp sets included: Sea of Textures, Magical Mermaid, Truly Tailored and Beautiful Day. Students used a variety of coordinating ribbons and the Tranquil Textures designer series paper. Participants were showed examples and then varied their designs so that each project was unique. I'm very proud of their work and wanted to share it with others for inspiration.

World's 10 Greatest Underwater Projects

02:40
Here are 10 of the greatest underwater projects. Some have had a better time of realizing their dreams than others, but visionaries of all sorts have dreamed up a bevy of interesting adventures under the sea. Here are 10 of the greatest underwater projects. Number 10. Mission 31. To mark the 50th anniversary of his grandfather Jacques' epic sea mission, Fabien Cousteau will be living in a submerged research facility for 31 days. While he's there, Fabien and his team will be investigating a number of oceanic wonders. Number 9. SeaOrbiter. At 190 feet tall, over half of the futuristic looking ship will be submerged and on a constant lookout for new species, lost cities, and mythical creatures. Construction on the ship is scheduled to begin late in 2014. Number 8. Sub-Biosphere 2. If everything goes as planned, designer Phillip Pauley will one day open this underwater community and seed bank, which is large enough to accommodate 100 people. Incidentally, that's the number of humans it would take to repopulate the Earth should something happen that wipes just about everybody out. Number 7 - Researchers from the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology have built a giant robot called the Crabster. Designed after the appearance of a crab, the 14 hundred pound robot that is about the size of a Smartcar, will be used to investigate the sunken wreckage of ships on the ocean floor. Number 6. H2OME. If you're tired of living above sea level, check out this builder. For about 10 million dollars, depending upon amenities and such, they can whip up a sea floor abode. The homes are built at surface pressure, so no tricky decompression is needed. Number 5. Sea-TY. Well, this is one way to be sea-level rise: build a city that can exist submerged in water. Sunlight is funneled in through a massive atrium built into a large, floating bowl. The buildings themselves are built at varying levels and are made accessible to one another via stairs. Number 4. Water-Discus Underwater Hotel. It's been named such for its design which is comprised of two inhabitable discs. One is located above water while the other sits beneath the surface, giving guests the option to enjoy warm breezes or watch vivid sea life swim by as they please. Number 3. Water-Scraper. Skyscrapers require a lot of natural resources to stay inhabitable and functioning. Not the Water-Scraper. It provides all of the multi-use and residential space as it's land-loving counterpart, but can power itself via the wind, waves, and sun. Number 2. Lady Landfill Skyscraper. Designed to resemble the Eiffel Tower flipped upside down, Lady Landfill is much more than a showy engineering feat. While its upper portion sustains the daily lives of its inhabitants, its submerged point collects plastic waste for later use as fuel. Number 1. Atlantica Expedition. Dennis Chamberland, the mind behind this concept, has already built a 2-person underwater habitat, but his total vision stretches so much further. He wants to build a whole city, which he describes as functioning sort of like the Jetsons' hometown, but on the ocean floor.

Norway's $47BN Underwater Coastal Highway with Undersea Tunnels | Europe's Largest MegaProject

03:56
The infrastructure plans will cost Norway no less than $47 billion and would spawn amazing solutions for crossing the fjords. Take, for example, the $2bn Boknafjorden tunnel, a 27-kilometre-long subsea tunnel build 390 meters below the sea level. It will be the longest, deepest tunnel in the world. This coastal highway expansion will set the bar in terms of engineering capabilities and will pave the way for future infrastructure megaproject The existing e39 highway stretches 1100km 683miles along Norway's coast. It includes 7 ferry crossings with a total journey time of 21 hours. With the goal of increasing accessibility, and transport efficiency Norway's government is embarking on one of Europe's largest megaprojects. The new project seeks to eliminate ferries by building a series of bridges and tunnels. At 26.7km, and 390m deep the Rogfast tunnel will be the world's longest and deepest road tunnel and will slash the driving time by 40 minutes. It is planned to open in 2026, with tolls to be put in place for the first 20 years. of operation. Construction on this tunnel began in 2018 and should be complete by 2026 costing $2 billion. A little bit further, the Sulafjorden bridge will cover a 4-kilometre-wide stretch of water. Its middle pillar would connect to the seabed at a 400-meter negative elevation! But the most challenging crossing is that over the Sognefjord. 3,700 meters in width, and 1,300 meters depth — it’s the biggest fjord in Norway. There are several solutions that will have to cater to the needs of car traffic and sea traffic, while also keeping an affordable budget - floating submerged tunnels (connected to each other and held up by floating pontoons on the water's surface), the world's largest suspension bridge with towers 435m tall. A floating bridge is also under consideration. Another solution is a hybrid floating bridge and tunnel. It would be the world's first construction of the sort. Another proposition is an enormous cable-stayed bridge connected to the seafloor with 4 pillars. Courtesy to Norway's Public Road Authority for this video. Subscribe for more videos!
How to Make an Underwater Volcano | Science Projects

Like these Kid's Activities !!! Check out the official app http://apple.co/1ThDIrx Watch more How to Do Small Science Projects for Children videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/510850-How-to-Make-an-Underwater-Volcano-Science-Projects Hi. When you guys think of natural disasters, number one natural disaster, when I ask my kids to make a prediction, to give me what they think is a natural disaster, everybody says, "volcanoes". Now, when you guys usually make volcanoes it's always the same experiment. Baking soda, vinegar, kaboom. Baking soda, vinegar, kaboom. Okay, I'm a little bored with that. Watch this. And all we need is water. Water and food coloring and I can make something called "an underwater volcano". See, volcanoes aren't just on land. They're also under water and when you see it actually erupt under the water your eyes are just like "What? How did that happen?" It's amazing. Now, check this out. What I suggest you do first is just get some water, fill it up and put it aside for just about an hour so that it becomes room temperature. If you don't know what room temperature is, it is the temperature of the room. The temperature in Hawaii is going to be different than the temperature in New York, so the room temperature here will be different than the room temperature in Alaska. It doesn't matter where you live, it just matters that it is the temperature of the room that you're in. What I'm going to do is, I think your cup should be clear, because if it is not clear you're not going to see it. Hello, it's a little boring, you want to be able to watch what is happening. So, I'm going to take a clear cup and I'm going to fill it up with water at room temperature. Just three quarters of the way. Now, step two I am going to take a little vial. It doesn't have to be a vial, it could be a little container, it could be a baby food jar, just be creative. This is all about doing science using that you have at home. I am going to take this and a popsicle stick, again, if you don't have a popsicle stick you can use a tree branch. It can be anything that you have. I am going to take it and a rubber band and I am going to create a lowering device, because I am going to fill this up with extremely hot water. I take my rubber band, take the stick, wrap it around. Two, three, four, five and six. Now, check this out, I created a lowering device. What I did was, you could use regular hot water from the tap, or if you wanted to make the water a little hotter ask your mom and dad to heat up some water, microwave, adult supervision though, please guys, you don't want to get burned, and what I am going to do is just add a little bit of red food coloring. Because, think about it, when you think of hot what color comes to mind? Red, I know, that's why I am going to make this red so that you, obviously, know it's hot. I am going to add about two or three drops of red food coloring, actually, you know what? I think it's cool if we make it even redder so let's add five more drops, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven wait, that's not five, sorry. Now stir it around and I really don't want to touch it because it's hot. So, now I am going to take my lowering device and I am going to fill it up, do not leave any air at the top of your vial. I'm going to fill this up with water and you should not put your face close to it because the air bubbles are going to pop up and you don't want hot water hitting your face. That's not good. Fill it up and now I have my red very hot water. Now the key to this experiment is do not tilt your vial, don't tilt it to the left, don't tilt it to the right, as you're taking it, you're going to lower it straight down into the water at the room temperature and whatever you do, do not let go of the stick, because then it would just float around. You want to take it and go straight down into the water at room temperature. I want everybody to make an observation. An observation in science is so important, you just watch very carefully what happens to all of the hot water. Are you ready? Want to do a countdown? Let's do a countdown, ready? Five, four, three, two, one and slowly lower it. And if you drop the eye level, you're going to notice all that hot water is rushing to the top of the surface of the water at room temperature. Not one drop of the hot water is at the bottom of the container. It's all at the top, because the heat made the water molecules move faster and when the water molecules move faster, it became less dense than the water at room temperature and when water or air is less dense it rises. As you can see all of it rose to the top. If you don't believe me, we can do the same experiment with cold water. We can do that right now. And if you look, it's still all red at the

Plan with me June - Bullet Journal - Under the Sea Theme

---- PLEASE READ FOR UPDATE ON POSTING SCHEDULE ---- Congrats to the giveaway winner Amy Watner! I will be sending you the notebook I put together soon. Thanks for watching, subscribing and commenting --- Update --- First of all, I want to thank all of you who subscribed to my channel. I didn't expect to get 400 subscribers in my first month! I'm glad you are liking the content I'm sharing. Last video I mentioned how difficult it was for me to record my videos with the content and quality I want because of the lack of a proper space to do it. I had the opportunity to try a small office outside of my home, and even though it doesn't have the noise issue I have at home, the lighting is terrible and I would have to move all my supplies back and forth from it to be able to record. Unfortunately, I have a full time job and too many other projects in mind at the moment. For this reason I will not be able to post on a regular basis. I might [emphasis on the MIGHT] be able to upload 1 video monthly. This will be until I have set up a space where I can properly plan for and record my videos. Until then, If you liked my content and would like to keep seeing it, I will continue to post pictures of my planner on my Instagram @nicoles.journal. I also have the intention of creating an Etsy store this month, so you will be able to get my designs and use it in your planner! :D Again, thank you so much for watching and subscribing. I will work hard to be able to come back and create more awesome content for you guys asap. Holland's Barriers to The Sea

44:21
The Delta Works in the Netherlands (Holland) is the largest flood protection project in the world. This project consists of a number of surge barriers, for examples: 1- The Oosterscheldekering is the largest of the 13 ambitious Delta Works series of dams and storm surge barriers and it is the largest surge barrier in the world, 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) long. The dam is based on 65 concrete pillars with 62 steel doors, each 42 metres wide. It is designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea. 2- The Maeslantkering is a storm barrier with two movable arms; when the arms are open the waterway remains an important shipping route however when the arms close a protective storm barrier is formed for the city of Rotterdam. Closing the arms of the barrier is a completely automated process done without human intervention. Antarctica is losing ice three times faster than it was in 2007 as greenhouse gas emissions by human activity contribute to global warming. A study in Nature says that sea levels could rise between three and six feet by 2100, with Antarctica contributing at least six inches if its ice melt continues at the current rate. Future Under Water Projects

00:57
Floating cities may seem like utopian sci-fi, but autonomous ocean settlements could become reality as early as 2020, says The Seasteading Institute. The forward-thinking organization recently launched the Floating City Project—an architectural design contest that seeks innovative designs for sustainable floating cities. Seasteaders posit that these aquatic communities could be the solutions to many societal issues, such as overpopulation and threats of rising sea levels. In honor of this new ocean frontier and the ambitious design contest, we’ve rounded up seven incredible eco-friendly floating city designs that we could call home someday soon . The floating underwater tunnel would consist of two curved concrete tubes, submerged below the surface of the Arabian Sea . The submerged tubes would be stabilize by being attached to pontoons on the surface of the sea or vertical tethers to the sea floor. There would be enough gaps between the pontoons to allow ships to pass through. The tubes would be placed underwater, deep enough to avoid water traffic and weather. The Main benefits from Project are : 1. Commute Passengers, Tourists & workers Between the UAE ( as well as other GCC Countries ) and India 2. Export Oil From Fujairah Port To India via a Pipeline 3. Import water from Narmada River North of Mumbai ( it is well noted that The Narmada River is flooding during monsoon season ; excess water can exported to the UAE ) 4. Transport Goods & commodities between both nations. It is expected that the project will help increase the trade and the influx of tourists from both sides. The speed of train is set to be 1000 km/h , the 1826km distance between Mumbai to Fujairah station can be covered within 2hrs. Future plan includes a making a provision for road to be constructed within the floating tunnel for cars and truck transportation ; as well as & Floating Hotel and shopping centre fuel stations at the middle of the Arabian Sea were commuters can rest and shop. Future Train stations may include the port city of Karachi in Pakistan & Muscat the capital city of Oman. The Ocean Cleanup Technology, Explained

02:33
The ocean is big. Cleaning up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch using conventional methods - vessels and nets - would take thousands of years and tens of billions of dollars to complete. Our passive systems are estimated to remove half the Great Pacific Garbage patch in just five years, and at a fraction of the cost. Our first cleanup system will be deployed in the summer of 2018. This is how it works. Bamberger Dance Projects - Sea of Ruin

16:24
Bamberger Dance Projects (BDP) & Global Fashion Exchange (GFX) present... SEA of RUIN Program Note: A nightmarish, environmental dilemma evolves in a reclamation of purity and beauty. The inhabitants of the sea work as furious messengers, attempting to deliver ill news to their Ocean Goddess, Amphitrite. Maintaining composure, focusing diligently, and keeping the waves in alignment with the moon, Amphitrite’s pristine, herculean strength begins to wane. In receiving the treacherous news, ingesting the sick and chaos from the world above, Amphitrite and her children are driven to madness, losing all control and sense of identity. The sea is in peril and so too, its magnificent creatures. Even a God has to battle the outside demons of humanity in order to keep health, peace, and sustainability within her own home. Aquatic life is set to a doomed fate if pollution and cruelty cannot be stopped. An ecosystem of chaos and destruction is playing out in a psychological terror tale of loss, insanity, pain, and utter despair. Witness Amphitrite’s struggle as she attempts to reclaim her habitat of thriving vitality and magnificence. The Mission: Inspiring people to act through a cultivation of awareness and understanding. • A once beautiful, pristine and brimming will life, marine ecosystems have been damaged beyond repair in many cases by trash, noise, oil, carbon emissions and of course over consumption by us humans. “Covering more than 70 percent of our planet, oceans are among the earth’s most valuable natural resources. They govern the weather, clean the air, help feed the world, and provide a living for millions. They also are home to most of the life on earth, from microscopic algae to the blue whale, the largest animal on the planet. Yet we’re bombarding them with pollution. By their very nature—with all streams flowing to rivers, all rivers leading to the sea—the oceans are the end point for so much of the pollution we produce on land, however far from the coasts we may be. And from dangerous carbon emissions to choking plastic to leaking oil to constant noise, the types of ocean pollution humans generate are vast. As a result, collectively, our impact on the seas is degrading their health at an alarming rate. Here are some ocean pollution facts that everyone on our blue planet ought to know.” - NRDC Choreographer: Hank Bamberger About the Company: Bamberger Dance Projects is a project-based company that comes together seasonally. Founded in 2018 by Artistic Director Hank Bamberger, the company's mission encapsulates old and new world practices of the modernized dance world. A Modern and Contemporary infused dance troupe, BDP generates innovation and classically beautiful dancing through its delivery of traditional Modern technique, combined with avant-garde aesthetics. Diversity inclusion is a huge part of the company's foundational structure where differences are to be celebrated and communication is to be made through movement language. Future Projects of Mumbai, Making Mumbai World Class

10:10
This video by Government of Maharashtra explains about the future projects in Mumbai and its importance. This project is also known as Mumbai Next. Mumbai Next is a project on the transformation of MMR region. ‘Mumbai Next’ initiative to transform Mumbai into a global financial and entertainment centre, says Devendra Fadnavis Project Details: On 30 January 2017, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled ‘Mumbai Next’, an initiative to transform the country’s financial capital into a global financial and entertainment centre. His government will hold a high-profile conference under the project’s banner on 6 February, which will be attended by Tata Sons Ltd chairman Cyrus Mistry, Reliance Industries Ltd chairman Mukesh Ambani, Union minister of state for finance Jayant Sinha, actor Amitabh Bachchan and film producer Rajkumar Hirani, among others. Strategically located between the two major financial centres of Singapore and London, Mumbai definitely holds the potential—in terms of time zone—to become an international finance centre. However, it has never been able to do so because of its creaking infrastructure. Fadnavis can do little to open up the financial markets and make his city attractive for global finance, but improving Mumbai’s physical infrastructure is very much part of his mandate. Fadnavis said his government was looking forward to use deliberations from the upcoming conference to finetune its strategies. He may indeed pick up some pearls of wisdom from this conference about financing models and the legislative and administrative framework required for executing such multi-billion dollar projects such as Mumbai Metro’s Line III whose estimated cost is $3.6 billion. The projects include the Coastal Road, Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL), Navi Mumbai International Airport, Metro 7, Navi Mumbai Belapur-Pendhar metro, Mono Rail Corridor, etc. Video Source - Government of Maharashtra

Mumbai Coastal Road Gets Approval From Center - Mumbai Coastal Road Projects

07:42
The proposed Mumbai coastal road project has finally been approved by the Central government. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, tweeted last week - “Good news! Mumbai #CoastalRoad gets final environmental approval from the Central Govt.” The ₹ 15,000 crore, project will be an eight lane 29 km road along Mumbai’s coast connecting Nariman Point in south Mumbai and Kandivali in the western suburbs. The stretch will consist of undersea tunnel, elevated roads and bridges. The project is expected to begin later this year and is likely to continue for about 48 months. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation got the clearance six years later after it was first proposed, which was stuck due environmental concerns and livelihood of fishermen. The project will be built in two phases by BMC – the first phase will be a 9.98 km stretch from Marine Drive to the existing Bandra-Worli Sea Link and expected to complete by 2019. It will start with a tunnel at Chowpatty which will link to Priyadarshini park, after that it will pass through Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The phase will consist of four interchanges at Amarsons Garden at Breach Candy, Haji Ali, Worli and Bandra. The second phase will cover 19.22 km road connecting the Bandra end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to Kandivali. Work on second phase will begin after completion of first phase which will also include the 9.5 km Bandra-Versova Sea Link. The approximate cost for the two phases will be ₹ 5,300 and ₹ 9,800 crore respectively. A further extension of the road up to Ahmedabad has also been proposed. As many as 11 companies have submitted quotation for the project. BMC is planning to shortlist bidders by end of June and work is expected to begin after monsoon. The coastal road will reduce commute time 70% on the southern section which in turn will reduce carbon emission.
