An Introduction to Praying with Anglican Prayer Beads and Song

10:01
The Rev. Sylvia Miller-Mutia shares a brief introduction to a prayer practice using Anglican prayer beads and songs. We begin with a 3 minute orientation to Anglican prayer beads. Then we pray around the circle of beads together once, using three songs: Come Pray with Us (Hamba Nathi), Know that God is Good (Mungu mi mwema), and Redeem Me (Original, Leah Cole.) This cycle of songs could be used at any time, especially during the season of Lent, or when praying for God's help.

Praying With the Triple Goddess Prayer Beads

08:41
Me demonstrating how I use the Triple Goddess Prayer Beads I made. I found most of the prayers I use here http://sacredstrands.webs.com/prayerbeadrosarylinks.htm I use 13 beads in each section for the 13 full moons in one year. Opening Prayer: "Great Goddess, Lady of Life, Whose garment is the shining Heavens. You are the white Moon among the stars and the beauty of the green Earth. You are the Oneness of all things and the completion of the Spirit. You are the Mystery that if that which we seek we find not within, we will never find it without. For you have been here since the beginning and you are that which is attained at the end of desire. Great Goddess, Lady of Life, Three that are One, You are everything; the Earth under my feet, the Air which I breath, the Water which purifys me and the Fire that illuminates my path. Great Goddess, I look within and I see your Light shining." Maiden-"Maiden of freedom, You are the eternal Virgin, the Holy Bride of Nature and the revealing Light within the Shadows. Through you all that is good comes to birth." Mother-"Mother of Compassion, forever fertile, Lady of the forge. You are the creating force of Love and the strength which nourishes all that lives. Through you the cause of Life is served." Crone-"Crone of Wisdom, Ancient One, Keeper of the Cauldron. You stand at the gates between the worlds and carry the shining sickle of Death. Without you nothing can be transformed." Closing Prayer: "Oh Holy and Blessed Lady, Perpetual Comfort of humankind and all creatures, who by your bounty and grace sustains the whole world. You bear great compassion to the troubles of the miserable as a loving Mother would. You are the natural Mother of all things, Mistress and Governess of all the elements, first of the Gods celestial, Light of the Goddesses." "By the Power and Will of She that is Three, Blessed Be!" (please forgive my wounded hand, I wounded myself at work creating a display ugh lol.) May the Triple Goddess bless us all )O(

Why Does We Use Beads While Praying To The Gohonzon?

02:03
Usually, when members pray to the Gohonzon, they hold a set of prayer beads in their hands. While holding the beads in one’s hands, one is said to be holding one’s life as the beads are fashioned after one’s body. The three tufts on the right are our head and both arms; the crossing over of the loop between our left and right palms indicates our navel; the two tufts on the left are our two legs. It is customary to place the prayer beads around the middle fingers of both hands — the three tufts on the right and the two tufts on the left — twisting the loop so that it crosses over in the middle between our palms. Each set of prayer beads has 108 beads which represent the 108 earthly desires, the sources of suffering. The four smaller beads represent the leaders of the Bodhisattvas of the Earth who have vowed to work for the happiness of all humanity. When we hold the prayer beads in our hands and chant daimoku and do gongyo before the Gohonzon, it is as if we are in control of our desires and suffering and not being controlled by them. And we can transform all our problems and suffering into fuel for our happiness. Using beads, however, forms a part of the ‘ritual’ aspect of faith. They have no special power and are not an essential part of the Buddhist practice. The substance and conviction of our faith are what matter most.

THE CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY (ROSARY)

17:31
At three o'clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion (Diary, 1320). As often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world — mercy triumphed over justice. (1572)

Praying with Prayer Beads and malas

14:59
About half way in, while making this video about how one can use prayer beads and malas, I stepped into a real life moment. Instead of a demonstration, I made it personal and real. How can you construct a tactile object that best fits your heart and your needs? I used a compass "tune-in" pendant and talked about where I had been and where I wanted to go, as I instructed how to "tune-in" and take the space, I stepped into a personal journey of what 4 realities I wanted to leave behind in 2016! A mini-course became a life adventure, as I allowed the compass to metaphorically lead me! That's what I want for you! The UHURU Collection is about FREEDOM! (UHURU = Swahili for freedom) You don't need one of our prayer beads or malas to get there, we just want you to get there! What are 4 of the things you are leaving behind you, and what 4 things are you taking forward... Take a look at the video, WATCH the entire class and pause as you go! In 2017 we will be doing in person classes and classes online, invite us to you company retreat, your church, your women's or men's group! Let's create safe and vibrant places together!

ROSARY FOR THE HOLY SOULS. Souls Who Receive Our Prayers Are Purified And Prepared To Enter Heaven

38:00
ROSARY FOR THE HOLY SOULS. Souls Who Receive Our Prayers Are Purified And Prepared To Enter Heaven In regards to the Church Militant (that’s us!) praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, St. Alphonsus Liguori wrote: “The practice of recommending to God the souls in Purgatory, that He may mitigate the great pains which they suffer, and that He may soon bring them to His glory, is most pleasing to the Lord and most profitable to us. For these blessed souls are His eternal spouses, and most grateful are they to those who obtain their deliverance from prison, or even a mitigation of their torments. When, therefore, they arrive in Heaven, they will be sure to remember all who have prayed for them.” What an incredible exchange of love! We can pray for the Holy Souls now, since they can no longer pray for themselves, and when they reach heaven they can intercede on our behalf. This powerful reflection reminds us of the beautiful reality of the mystical Body of Christ in which we, the souls in heaven, and the souls in purgatory all share! In light of this inspiration, how can we pray more specifically and intentionally for the Holy Souls? One beautiful way to intercede for them is to offer the recitation of the rosary on their behalf. Our Lady told St. Bridget: “I am the Mother of all the Poor Souls, for my prayers serve to mitigate their sufferings every single hour that they remain there (in Purgatory).” While Mary herself never experienced the stain of sin, her life was, like ours, a journey of faith with Christ. What better way to pray than to ask our Mother, and the Mother of All Souls, to aid the souls in purgatory as they are being perfected in Christ on their journey to heaven. With this in mind, I’d like to share with you a breathtaking means by which we can pray in a special way for the poor souls in purgatory: The Catholic Company’s exclusive Holy Souls Rosary! Inspiration from a Holy Woman Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, a 19th century mystic, experienced multiple visions of purgatory. In one, she saw suffering souls go from dark to light as she prayed fervently for them. (You might be interested and surprised to know that this same holy woman’s visions on the passion of Jesus form the basis for the worldwide acclaimed film, “The Passion of the Christ.”) Very moved by such imagery, The Catholic Company decided to design a rosary based on this vision. The opening beads and first decade of the rosary have a coal-black hue. As you continue praying, the beads lighten, and end in lovely pure white pearls, signifying the fact that the souls who receive our prayers are purified and prepared to enter heaven. A Unique Crucifix The crucifix on this rosary is a unique one called the “Unity Cross.” Its roots come from the Schoenstatt movement, but it has quickly spread far and wide outside the movement. In the image, Mary stands beneath the cross of Christ, and catches in a chalice the Precious Blood which falls from Christ’s pierced heart. This captures an intimate moment of attachment and union between Mother and Son—a union that each member of the Body of Christ shares in and strives for. Powerful Catholic Prayers: How To Pray The Rosary

05:10
A step-by-step guide on how to pray the Rosary. The Rosary is a beautiful prayer of both contemplative and vocal prayers in harmony with the mysteries of the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Start by making the sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Then recite the Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen. Then say 1 Our Father, 3 Hail Marys (for the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity) and then 1 Glory Be: Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen. GLORY BE to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. THE SAINTS ON PRAYER: Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you. ~Saint Augustine of Hippo There are more tears shed over answered prayers than over unanswered prayers. ~Saint Teresa of Avila What prayer could be more true before God the Father than that which the Son, who is Truth, uttered with His own lips? ~Saint John Chrysostom Purity is the fruit of prayer. ~Saint Teresa of Calcutta He who prays most receives most. ~Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori Private prayer is like straw scattered here and there: If you set it on fire it makes a lot of little flames. But gather these straws into a bundle and light them, and you get a mighty fire, rising like a column into the sky; public prayer is like that. ~Saint John Vianney We must pray without tiring, for the salvation of mankind does not depend on material success; nor on sciences that cloud the intellect. Neither does it depend on arms and human industries, but on Jesus alone. ~Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Without prayer nothing good is done. God’s works are done with our hands joined, and on our knees. Even when we run, we must remain spiritually kneeling before Him. ~Saint Luigi Orione Have confidence in prayer. It is the unfailing power which God has given us. By means of it you will obtain the salvation of the dear souls whom God has given you and all your loved ones.” Ask and you shall receive,” Our Lord said. Be yourself with the good Lord. ~Saint Peter Julian Eymard

SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL & LET US SHOW THE WORLD THAT WE ARE ONE IN OUR FAITH. When someone asks you to pray for them, why not pray with “Padre Pio Power”? When I heard that the prayer was written by St. Margaret Mary Alacoqu, was the one Padre Pio would use when people asked him to pray for them, I needed no further encouragement for choosing this prayer in the same way. Padre Pio has tens of thousands of miracles associated with him, including the healing of a very good friend of Pope John Paul II. When you use this prayer, keep a journal to record these special intentions. Keep in mind this type of petition is for specific needs such as gainful employment, healing from an illness, etc. After some time has passed, refer back to this journal to record the amazing way God answers these prayers. Due to our limited view and God’s eternal view, it is important to always trust that He knows far better what is really needed in these situations. Be open to seeing how sometimes He answers our specific prayers in a way that does not always match exactly with what we asked. When looking back on these petitions, see how His way is better. Documentary 2018 Did The Virgin Mary Use The Rosary When Praying?

03:25
There are differing views on the history of the Rosary. The exact origin of the Rosary as a prayer is less than clear and subject to debate among scholars. Prayer beads may have their origins in the Eastern religions in India in the 3rd century BC. The use of knotted prayer ropes in Christianity goes back to the Desert Fathers in the 3rd and early 4th centuries. These counting devices were used for prayers such as the Jesus prayer in Christian monasticism. The period after the First Council of Ephesus in 431 witnessed a gradual growth in the use of Marian prayers during the Middle Ages. According to some Catholic traditions, the Rosary was given to Saint Dominic in a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary and it was then promoted by Blessed Allan de la Roche. However, not all Catholics agree with that tradition. Some historians see a more gradual development for the Rosary, in that the repetition of Marian prayers which form the basis of the Rosary needed counting devices, which resulted in the modern form of the Rosary prayed on beads. The practice of meditation during the praying of the Hail Marys was attributed to Dominec of Prussia, a 15th-century Carthusian monk, who called it "Life of Jesus Rosary" (vita Christi Rosary). However, in 1977, a theologian from Trier named Andreas Heinz discovered a vita Christi Rosary that dated to 1300, suggesting the origin of the current rosary extends back at least to that time. The Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 was attributed to the praying of the Rosary by masses of Europeans based on the request of Pope Pius V and eventually resulted in the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. In 1569, the papal bull Consueverunt Romani Pontifices established the devotion to the rosary in the Catholic Church. In 2002 Pope John Paul II introduced the Luminous Mysteries as an option in an Apostolic Letter on the Rosary, Rosarium Virginis Mariae. THE HOLY ROSARY

20:01
Start by making the sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Then recite the Apostle's Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. Amen. The Rosary is essentially the decades and their associated mysteries, and only these must be prayed to "pray the rosary", either in satisfaction of Our Lady's requests, or, to gain the indulgences attached to praying the rosary. The traditional Rosary is divided into three parts, each having five mysteries: Glorious, Joyful and Sorrowful. In his apostolic letter The Rosary of the Virgin Mary, Pope John Paul II proposed a new set of mysteries, which he called the Luminous, and which concern the period of the public life of Our Lord. For those who wish to say all 20 decades at once during the course of a day, they may be said in the following order: Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious. For those who wish to say only 5 decades per day, the Holy Father proposed the following schedule: Mondays & Saturdays: JOYFUL MYSTERY (1. Annunciation 2. Visitation 3. Nativity 4. Presentation at the Temple 5. Finding in the Temple) Tuesdays & Fridays: SORROWFUL MYSTERY (1. Agony of Jesus in the Garden 2. Scourging of Jesus at Pillar 3. Crowning with Thorns 4. Carrying the Cross 5. Crucifixion) Wednesdays & Sundays: GLORIOUS MYSTERY (1. Resurrection of Jesus 2. Ascension of Jesus 3. Descent of Holy Spirit 4. Assumption of the Virgin Mary 5. Coronation of Blessed Virgin Mary) Thursdays: LUMINOUS MYSTERY (1. Baptism of Jesus 2. Wedding at Cana 3. The proclamation of the Kingdom of God 4. The Transfiguration 5. The institution of the Eucharist) While meditating on the Mysteries, recite: One Our Father (large beads), 10 Hail Marys (small beads) and 1 Glory Be (before the next large bead) to make a complete decade of the rosary. After each decade the Fátima Prayer may also be said (Pope Pius XII). O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy. Concluding Prayers After the completion of five mysteries (5 decades), or 15 or 20, the following is customarily said: Hail Holy Queen (or Salve Regina may be sung) Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. (Verse) Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. (Response) That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Rosary Prayer (Verse) Let us pray, (Response) O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation. Grant, we beseech Thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

An Introduction to Praying the Rosary

04:19
Tami and Anne Marie Palladino discuss the Rosary as a powerful prayer that should be a part of everyday Christian life. Praying the Rosary is not just about repeating the Our Father and the Hail Mary, but the most important part of the Rosary is meditating on events of the lives of Jesus and Mary (the "mysteries" of the Rosary) which are found in the Bible. Turning to God's Word offers a Bible study titled, Scripture and the Rosary: New Testament Mysteries, Old Testament Parallels by Jennifer McGaw Phelps and Tami Palladino. This Bible study will help you to better understand these events (mysteries) in the lives of Jesus and Mary included in the Rosary but also Old Testament parallels that foreshadowed of these events.

How to Pray the Rosary HD

10:58
How to Pray the Rosary [http://bit.ly/2sIysHf] The Rosary is a Scripture-based prayer to help us remember the mysteries of our salvation, and to thank and praise God for them. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into: The five JOYFUL MYSTERIES The five LUMINOUS MYSTERIES The five SORROWFUL MYSTERIES The five GLORIOUS MYSTERIES The repetition in saying the Rosary leads one into restful and contemplative prayer related to each Mystery. Also the gentle repetition of the words helps us to enter into the silence of our hearts, where Christ's spirit dwells. The Rosary can be said privately or with a group. Through our talents, sense of humor, eccentric imaginations, and thirst for creativity, we strive to present the Catholic faith in a humorous, yet respectful, way that upholds the teachings of the Catholic Church. This mission is our response to the call of Our Lord Jesus Christ to “Go into the world and proclaim the gospel” (Mark 16:15). Our goal is to inspire souls to seek Jesus, to know and feel His great love, compassion, and mercy for them, and to lead them on the road to eternal life as understood by the Holy Catholic Church.
