Point Of Purchase Displays and How Industrial Packaging can Help you Promote your Brand in Retail!
www.IndustrialPackaging.com We have all been to the Wal-Marts, Sam's Clubs, and Targets of the world, and as we walk down the wide aisles, there are 360-degree, walk-around displays, showcasing different products. They have facings and graphics on all four sides that and can be shopped from all four sides. These are point-of-purchase displays. As you are walking through the aisles, notice that I have now made you aware of something you probably have never thought about, despite the fact that you have grabbed something off of it at one point or another. Now that you know what they are, you will notice them every time you shop! As you look at each of the aisles, at the end of them is usually an end-cap display showcasing a product or several similar products by the same brand. These are also point-of-purchase displays. A point-of-purchase display is anything that will showcase a product that is not in its normal placement within the store, and is made of some sort of corrugated or metal material. WHAT CAN INDUSTRIAL PACKAGING DO WITH MY POP DISPLAY PROJECT? We can start as early in the process as you want. We have the capability to design, provide, and set up the displays for you. If you have a consumer good and you're not sure how to get it to market, we are able to walk you from the birth of your project, right to the in-store set up. I'm a huge fan of POP displays for a variety of reasons, and a lot of people don't understand how to go about getting one or bringing one to the market. We can help you understand how to get into a big-box store like Sam's, Walmart, or BJ's with your own display as well as how to construct, fill, and understand the different regulations and footprints that are allowed in the different types of retail outlets so that you have the optimal placement for your display!

Point of Sale Displays
Think of anything labelled “off the shelf” and you think of readiness, speed and a one-size-fits-all product. Ideal if you’re in the market for a new winter coat. But not so good if you’re a retailer wanting to create an environment that grabs your customers’ attention and stimulates sales. Great point of sale and retail displays do just that. But making sure they’re effective, visually exciting and on brand, needs a tailored approach. These are the 5 critical things we consider when creating a custom experience for shoppers or guests; 1. Your customers Customers. Obviously. Also available in range of shapes and sizes, your customers will dictate the experience they expect from you and your brand. A dimly lit (and effortlessly cool) teen-fashion store won’t cut the mustard with a department store’s 40-something customer. Understanding what makes them comfortable and relaxed, and how they choose to browse, is a key driver. 2. The customer journey How is the visitor to your space going to move through it? Is his journey pre-defined? Does he need to be guided or steered? From the first signage and window display to the final pay point we’re looking to maximise every promotional opportunity. 3. Sensory cues Looking good! That’s a must. But other sensory cues, such as encouraging customers to touch the merchandise, try it, smell it, hear or even taste it (depending what it is of course!) all have a bearing on the positioning, structure and substrates to be used. 4. Durability For short-lived promotions a disposable display is not only acceptable, it might be positively necessary. But where it’s “used in anger” and has to endure over time then that will impact on the materials and the production processes. 5. Last, but never least, budget Working to a budget doesn’t have to mean a big, fat compromise. Getting the very best value from it comes from consultancy, design, prototyping and full-on production from one source that really knows their stuff. We think of our custom displays as affordable made-to-measure. If you think you like the cut of our jib and want to talk to experts that are happy to listen, pick up the phone or drop us an email.

Calculating EOQ - Economic Order Quantity (Inventory Costs & Purchasing Costs)
http://www.driveyoursuccess.com This video explains how to calculate economic order quantity using the time-tested Wilson EOQ formula. The video provides a step-by-step process to defining the economic order quantity for any company. It takes into consideration the company's annual or yearly consumption, the price it pays for each unit it purchases for its inventory, the cost to make that purchase and finally, the company's costs to hold inventory on a monthly basis. Determining the annual or yearly consumption is fairly straightforward. Simply take a total of all the inventory of a given part used in a year. Next, take the amount your company pays for that part or raw material. Determining your company's costs to purchase doesn't merely involve totaling your total volume multiplied by price. Instead, it's more about defining what it costs your company to make a purchase. How much does it cost your company to purchase from a vendor? Your costs to purchase include time spent to approve and sign purchase requisitions. It also includes the time spent placing that order and sending it to your vendor. Next, the costs of inspecting the order are accounted for and finally, the costs of paying your vendor. The Wilson EOQ formula involves doubling your yearly consumption total and multiplying it by your company's cost to purchase. This amount is then divided by the sum of the raw material or part's price multiplied by its inventory holding costs. The Wilson EOQ formula is an excellent tool for making sure your company doesn't buy too much or too little.

ESKO ArtiosCAD POP Display Creation - Packaging Simplified
Point-Of-Purchase POP Displays can be created in real time within ArtiosCAD within few minutes - Error Free and Quick. This is what I am displaying in this video: 1. Application Used: ArtiosCAD 14.1 2. Features Used: Display Standards - Parametric, 2D Drafting Tools, 3D Object Import and Array Copy, Geometry Macros, 3D Positioning and 3D PDF Export 3. USP: Validating Design at each of the step by 3D can help designers in visualizing and conceptualizing an otherwise time consuming POP design process. The ability to combine multiple design elements along with the product itself will allow converter / designers to show the design and get approval from brands even before they are cut on the Kongsberg Table.
Case Study - Showcard Print
Showcard Print are specialists in the supply of printed point of sale and point of purchase material. For over 40-years they have produced high quality print materials to the retail sector, including some of the best-known brands on the high street. With a heritage in the wide format sector Showcard Print offer digital, screen and Litho printing on an extensive range of materials to meet any display need. Showcard’s 3D engineered, semi-permanent display units and promotional products create positive customer experiences for retailers, and product interaction for brands, that drive sales. Due to the variety of product shapes and sizes Showcard produce, packaging was often ordered in small quantities and required on a just in time basis. This led to high costs, obsolete packaging materials being ordered and a high amount of administration to manage the process. By choosing Ribble and a Panotec Nextmode 2.5, Showcard have gained more control of their packaging process and the ability to make the right size boxes on demand. Showcard have seen benefits including: • Creation of a more environmentally sustainable packaging process. • Reduction in corrugated spend • Improved flexibility • Elimination of supplier MOQ’s • Reduction in administrative resources

Making of a 4x4-shelf POP display (HD)
A video of me using Esko ArtiosCAD to draft a typical shelved Point-of-Purchase display (common CD/DVD/book displays). Material and measuring used were for standard ~3mm thick corrugated board. Shelf measures are quite random, since it was made for video and not actual product, although it's 100% ready-to-produce and fully functional. One locking part, which secures display into foot base, got lost during various re-cuts of the video. Video is sped up by 6x, in real-time it took exactly 21 minutes, plus 4 for 3D assembly. music: The Nuke - Enchanting Motion (edited for length) http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=51907 Licensed under the Mod Archive Distribution license

What is POINT OF SALE DISPLAY? What does POINT OF SALE DISPLAY mean? POINT OF SALE DISPLAY meaning - POINT OF SALE DISPLAY definition - POINT OF SALE DISPLAY explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A point-of-sale display (POS display) is a specialized form of sales promotion that is found near, on, or next to a checkout counter (the "point of sale"). They are intended to draw the customers' attention to products, which may be new products, or on special offer, and are also used to promote special events, e.g. seasonal or holiday-time sales. POS displays can include shelf edging, dummy packs, display packs, endcaps, display stands, mobiles, posters, and banners. POS can also refer to systems used to record transactions between the customer and the commerce. Usually, in smaller retail outlets, POS displays are supplied by the manufacturer of the products, and also sited, restocked and maintained by one of their regular salespersons. However, this is less common in large supermarkets as they can control the activities of their suppliers due to their large purchasing power, and prefer to use their own material designed to be consistent with their corporate theming and store layout. Common items that may appear in POS displays year-round are batteries, soft drinks, candy, chewing gum, magazines, comics, tobacco, and writable CDs and DVDs. These displays are also useful in outlets with limited floor space, as there tends to be much wasted space around counters. The displays are normally covered with branding for the product they are trying to sell, and are made out of cardboard or foamboard, and/or a covering over a plastic or Perspex/Plexiglass stand, all intended to be easily replaceable and disposable. This allows designers to make full use of color and printing to make the display visually appealing. Some displays are fixed or non-disposable; these may include lighting to make the display more visible and may also contain a cooler, e.g. for drinks or ice cream. Some are no more than a metal basket, with no design on the outside, simply showing a price; these types of display are easier to refill. In the field of POS displays, a "lightbox" is a display fixture (or a modular component of a larger POS display structure) that contains a translucent graphic film with lamps that transmit light through the graphic, thus "backlighting" the graphic message for increased visibility, brightness and contrast relative to its surroundings. By definition, the artwork or backlit graphic film (aka "duratrans") in a POS lightbox is replaceable without discarding the lightbox or any of its other components. Lightboxes have historically been lighted with fluorescent lamps due to their (a) cooler operating temperature than incandescent; (b) relatively efficient power consumption; and (c) inherent diffusive property. However, as in most commercial lighting applications, there has been a significant industry-wide shift in the late 20th and early 21st century toward LED lamps in POS lightboxes, for not just the universally-acknowledged benefit of economy but also of practicality, as LED lamps are more durable and impact-resistant in shipping, handling and public applications such as Point-of-Sale. Note: the definition of "lightbox" as it relates to POS displays is similar to but distinct from that of a lightbox in the Photography and Graphic Arts industries. The similarity is that they both contain lamps whose light is diffused to uniformly backlight a translucent image; the distinction is that a POS lightbox is a permanent or semi-permanent fixture used to display an advertising message in a retail space, while a photography lightbox is usually a portable or table-mounted appliance used for image quality analysis and/or tracing in a photography studio, graphic design studio, graphic/print production shop or similar environment.

Auditing in-store Point of Sale Material using machine learning on commodity hardware
At Cypher 2018 By Vivek V Krishnan Retail Consultant , Satyajit Nair Principal Engineer at Johnson Controls More Details at www.analyticsindiasummit.com Manufacturers spend a lot of time and money on deploying their marketing materials within the store to gain visibility and boost their sales. Often, the in-store marketing campaign suffers from poor execution and damage within the store which in-turn leads to poor ROI for manufacturers. Auditing the deployment of marketing materials is plagued by inaccuracy and lengthy turnaround times due to the extensive use of manual methods to audit these stores. Further, verification of the findings of these audits is a difficult and time-consuming process for manufacturers. Our proposed solution aims to increase the accuracy, while simultaneously reducing the turnaround times for these in-store audits by applying the latest in computer vision to make these audits objective and speedy. By using an advanced CNN architecture like Google’s InceptionNet, we train a neural network to detect brands and eventually different types of in-store displays. The output of the neural networks is used to automatically tag and score images from audits. Automating the process will also make the verification of these audits quick and easy for clients. This would save them critical time and arm them with timely information to react quickly to new developments in the market.

Robotized loading and unloading on a Kongsberg cutting table
Robotized loading and unloading on a Kongbserg cutting table equals non-stop finishing production. An operator leaves a stack of corrugated substrate for the robotic arm. The robot will load new and offload the finished material, perfectly synchronized with the Kongsberg cutting table. The robotics arm will use the tables’ multi-zone functionality. In a production environment specialized for point of purchase materials and packaging, robotics will reduce load time, which is one of the more time-consuming off-line tasks. Production becomes much faster.

Flat pack playatech art - Making a tree out of scrape foam core material
Wholesale Blank Foamcore http://www.858graphics.com/Printing/Blank-Foamboard.html This video shows how we make trees out of scrap foamcore. The trees are made in two pieces from 1/2" foamcore. Once the material is cut out it is sloted together and the tree becomes self standing. The entire tree weights less that 1lb and is almost 4' high. I have written a blog post on 858graphics about how we made this and included a download link to the template I created. Our foamcore can be cut to any size and shape imaginable. These foamcore pieces can be cut into different shapes to build your own products. Whether it be tables, trees, podiums, our foamcore can be utilized to build it. You can make a foamcore dimensional forrest, or faux taxidermy animal heads. Foamcore is perfect for cheap, yet durable point of purchase displays. The build it yourself templates make it easy for assembly and disassembly. The material once disassembled sits perfectly flat enabling you to transport these point-of-purchase displays, trees, podiums and so much more, easily and efficiently. Foamcore is great for modeling too. Foamcore is a cheap and easy way to check and see if your object dimensions work for your projects. Foamcore is great for architectural projects and with our high tech machinery we can do all of the cutting for you. Foamcore is light, cheap and relatively durable and it is perfect for die cutting. TRIAD — Basic Point-of-Sale
Video portfolio sample. This is a sample of a corporate-industrial training video written in 1987 by John-Michael Battaglia for his client, Triad Systems Corporation of Livermore, California. Triad has been a market leader in providing computer systems to the automotive after-market parts industries. Their hardware and software systems assist auto parts distributors and retailers in tracking their parts inventory via Triad's proprietary software database. Triad has also developed and marketed management information system software for the retail hardware industry, as well as medical/dental offices. Triad's hardware and software systems are designed to perform inventory control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and point-of-sale purchase ordering. This training video uses a variety of characters and sales transactions in a retail hardware store setting to train cashiers how to perform BASIC operations on the computerized Point of Sale system developed by Triad in the mid-eighties. It's a really long video, because it is thorough. From an instructional design standpoint, the video lays out all the relevant point-of-sale procedures of the Triad system in a detailed, sequential fashion. With the advent of digital video and the ability to randomly access any portion of a video production, material like this could be excerpted into small QuickTime video chunks that could be searched for by key words and incorporated as essential elements in an on-line HELP system. Some video editing and some indexing would give video material like this "legs." From: charlotte.bizjournals.com Founded in 1972 as Triad Systems Corp., the technology company spent its early years focused on two primary markets: hardware stores and lumber companies, and automotive parts and service dealers. In 1997, it merged with Austin, Texas-based Cooperative Computing Inc. and changed the company name to CCI-Triad. Ultraboard vs Foamcore
Part of the Material and Substrate series. Explaining the difference between ultraboard and foamcore as well as the best applications for each material. Ultraboard's durability makes it an optimal material for long term signage. Ultraboard is perfect for signage in children's bookstores. It is great for die cut signage. Ultraboard is great for point of purchase displays and standee cut outs. It is perfect for game displays and durable hanging signs. These ultraboard prints are perfect for entry signage, especially nice for easel displays. These ultraboard signs are perfect for displays on trust systems, especially those in the retail and food industries. Our ultraboard signs can be cut to any size and shape imaginable. The half inch ultraboard is perfect for dimensional lettering that can be utilized in any indoor setting. Ultraboard is great for indoor events due to its durability. It is great for trade shows, point of purchase displays, weddings, birthday parties, etc. It can be grommeted enabling you to hang these signs. This material can also be printed double sided, enabling you to market to people in both directions. The outer plastic coating on PVC enables it to be water resistant while foamcore is paper based and is not weather resistant. Foamcore is utilized for short term indoor use while ultraboard is utilized for long term applications. Ultraboards durable outer surface makes it much more dent resistant than foamcore. Ultraboard signs have a longer life span in comparison to foamcore. They can last years and still look great. The plastic outer surface enables you to use basic cleaning products, like windex, directly on the board without impacting the graphic. Foamcore being a paper based product is best used for short time use. You cannot easily clean the prints with liquid cleaning products due to its paper finish. Kanban Systems
Kanban is a Japanese term for a visual system used to trigger activity upstream in a given process. The most important point to remember about a Kanban system is that the best Kanban system is none at all and it is only a substitute for not being able to implement single piece flow flow in your process. Part of SME's award-winning Manufacturing Insights video series, this program takes you inside Carver Pump Company, Muscatine, Iowa who uses Kanban cards, bins, and visual replenishment to deliver a wide variety of military and commercial pumps. A second example of Kanban is at Ariens Company, Brillion, Wisconsin who has converted from a computer based inventory control system to using Kanban to trigger each step in the process of building snow blowers and lawn mowers. In the summary, six simple rules are presented that must be followed to make your Kanban system successful. For more information and to purchase, visit http://www.sme.org/mi.
