Full DB In-Memory Caching
This is the first of two demonstrations about In-Memory caching new features, introduced in Oracle Database This one illustrates the Full Database In-memory Caching feature enabling an entire database to be cached in memory when the database size is smaller than the buffer cache size. Caching and running a database from memory leads to huge performance benefits. Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Oracle® is a registered trademark of Oracle and/or its affiliates. Reload data into cache automatically when data in the table changes Part 132

In this video, we will discuss about reloading data into cache automatically when data in the underlying database table has changed. Please watch Part 131, before proceeding with this video. To load data automatically into cache, when cached data is removed, we need to define a callback method. This callback method will be invoked when the respective item is removed from cache. So, the code to reload and re-cache data can be written in this method. The callback method signature should match, with the signature of "CacheItemRemovedCallback" delegate. The call back method is defined below. public void CacheItemRemovedCallbackMethod(string key, object value, CacheItemRemovedReason reason) { string CS = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["DBConnectionString"].ConnectionString; SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(CS); SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter("spGetProducts", con); da.SelectCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; DataSet ds = new DataSet(); da.Fill(ds); CacheItemRemovedCallback onCacheItemRemoved = new CacheItemRemovedCallback(CacheItemRemovedCallbackMethod); SqlCacheDependency sqlDependency = new SqlCacheDependency("Sample", "tblProducts"); Cache.Insert("ProductsData", ds, sqlDependency, DateTime.Now.AddHours(24), Cache.NoSlidingExpiration, CacheItemPriority.Default, onCacheItemRemoved); } Now, create an instance of "CacheItemRemovedCallback" delegate, and to the contructor pass the name of the callback method, that should be executed automatically when, the cached item is removed. CacheItemRemovedCallback onCacheItemRemoved = new CacheItemRemovedCallback(CacheItemRemovedCallbackMethod); In Part 131, to cache data, we used cache object's, Insert() method that takes 3 parameters, as shown below. Cache.Insert("ProductsData", ds, sqlDependency); Instead, let's use the overloaded version that takes 7 parameters and pass "onCacheItemRemoved" as an argument for "CacheItemRemovedCallback" parameter. Cache.Insert("ProductsData", ds, sqlDependency, DateTime.Now.AddHours(24), Cache.NoSlidingExpiration, CacheItemPriority.Default, onCacheItemRemoved); That's it. We are done. Now, please run the application. When "Get Data" button is clicked for the first time, the data is loaded from database. Once the data is loaded into cache, we always get it from cache when we click "Get Data". Now, execute an update statement on the database table. Notice that, when we click "Get Data" button now, we still get data from cache, but notice that, the updated data is loaded.

Debugging sql server stored procedures
debugging in ssms debugging t-sql code t sql debug stored procedure sql server management studio debug stored procedure how to debug t sql debug in sql server management studio In this video we will discuss how to debug stored procedures in SQL Server. Setting up the Debugger in SSMS : If you have connected to SQL Server using (local) or . (period), and when you start the debugger you will get the following error Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not connect to computer. To fix this error, use the computer name to connect to the SQL Server instead of using (local) or . For the examples in this video we will be using the following stored procedure. Create procedure spPrintEvenNumbers @Target int as Begin Declare @StartNumber int Set @StartNumber = 1 while(@StartNumber [ @Target) Begin If(@StartNumber%2 = 0) Begin Print @StartNumber End Set @StartNumber = @StartNumber + 1 End Print 'Finished printing even numbers till ' + RTRIM(@Target) End Connect to SQL Server using your computer name, and then execute the above code to create the stored procedure. At this point, open a New Query window. Copy and paste the following T-SQL code to execute the stored procedure. DECLARE @TargetNumber INT SET @TargetNumber = 10 EXECUTE spPrintEvenNumbers @TargetNumber Print 'Done' Starting the Debugger in SSMS : There are 2 ways to start the debugger 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Start Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut ALT + F5 At this point you should have the debugger running. The line that is about to be executed is marked with an yellow arrow Step Over, Step into and Step Out in SSMS : You can find the keyboard shortcuts in the Debug menu in SSMS. Let us understand what Step Over, Step into and Step Out does when debugging the following piece of code 1. There is no difference when you STEP INTO (F11) or STEP OVER (F10) the code on LINE 2 2. On LINE 3, we are calling a Stored Procedure. On this statement if we press F10 (STEP OVER), it won't give us the opportunity to debug the stored procedure code. To be able to debug the stored procedure code you will have to STEP INTO it by pressing F11. 3. If the debugger is in the stored procedure, and you don't want to debug line by line with in that stored procedure, you can STEP OUT of it by pressing SHIFT + F11. When you do this, the debugger completes the execution of the stored procedure and waits on the next line in the main query, i.e on LINE 4 in this example. To stop debugging : There are 2 ways to stop debugging 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Stop Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut SHIFT + F5 Show Next Statement shows the next statement that the debugger is about to execute. Run to Cursor command executes all the statements in a batch up to the current cursor position Locals Window in SSMS : Displays the current values of variables and parameters If you cannot see the locals window or if you have closed it and if you want to open it, you can do so using the following menu option. Locals window is only available if you are in DEBUG mode. Watch Window in SSMS : Just like Locals window, Watch window is used to watch the values of variables. You can add and remove variables from the watch window. To add a variable to the Watch Window, right click on the variable and select "Add Watch" option from the context menu. Call Stack Window in SSMS : Allows you to navigate up and down the call stack to see what values your application is storing at different levels. It's an invaluable tool for determining why your code is doing what it's doing. Immediate Window in SSMS : Very helpful during debugging to evaluate expressions, and print variable values. To clear immediate window type ]cls and press enter. Breakpoints in SSMS : There are 2 ways to set a breakpoint in SSMS. 1. By clicking on the grey margin on the left hand side in SSMS (to remove click again) 2. By pressing F9 (to remove press F9 again) Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints : There are 2 ways to Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints 1. From the Debug menu 2. From the Breakpoints window. To view Breakpoints window select Debug =] Windows =] Breakpoints or use the keyboard shortcut ALT + CTRL + B Conditional Breakpoint : Conditional Breakpoints are hit only when the specified condition is met. These are extremely useful when you have some kind of a loop and you want to break, only when the loop variable has a specific value (For example loop varible = 100). How to set a conditional break point in SSMS : 1. Right click on the Breakpoint and select Condition from the context menu 2. In the Breakpoint window specify the condition Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/debugging-sql-server-stored-procedures.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/debugging-sql-server-stored-procedures_28.html

Ranet OLAP - PivotGrid Overview
Components library RanetUILibraryOLAP is intended for creating full-featured business intelligence applications (RIA, Rich Internet Applications) based on the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services platform. Visual elements that are included with the RanetUILibraryOLAP library offer strong functionality and excellent design. This intuitive and easy-to-master tool does not require technical knowledge or programming skills from the user. It can meet business analysis requirements of the most demanding users. Unlimited analytical possibilities offered by RanetUILibraryOLAP library components enable the user to view the data from various angles. They help reveal business development trends that could have gone unnoticed or seemed of no importance. The visual elements included with the RanetUILibraryOLAP library permit to create interactive reports of any complexity level based on the data of the Microsoft Analysis Services OLAP cubes. Depending on the skill and professional level of the user, one can build an interactive report simply by dragging and dropping the cube metadata elements to the filter area, rows, columns of the summary table. Alternatively, it is possible to prepare a complex MDX query, using maximum capabilities of the MDX language, in order to achieve the most efficient solution for the report. The Drill Down, Drill Up, and Drill Through functions give the user the maximum possibilities for detailed data analysis: • Going into different data levels, from summary to detailed data (the hierarchy of the dimension determines the drill down ways); • Possibility to go down to the detailed data (Drill Down) by expanding the hierarchy nodes or going back to the summary data (Drill Up); • Analyzing the actual data behind the aggregate indicator (Drill Through); Editing cube data (Writeback) If the cube supports editing (the dimension group has a writeback partition), then it is possible to use the PivotGrid table in the editing mode to make changes to the cube data directly. The table section accessible for editing is highlighted with yellow background color. It is formed depending on the cube security settings, types of indicators (calculated indicators are not editable), etc. It is permitted to write an arithmetical expression using the syntax and functions of the MDX language. It gives the possibility to calculate an indicator using the current context (the servers does it when recalculating). The table cells modified by the user are highlighted with background color (blue cell background) and text color (dark-blue bold text in the cell). Display of the cell depends on the current server data synchronization mode. There are two server data synchronization modes: 1. Automatic update: any modification of the cell results in sending the changes to the server and recalculation of the data. The recalculated result is returned back to the client. 2. Working with the cache memory: the modifications are stored in the cache memory in the local workstation; the modifications are sent to the server on the user's command [Save changes] (Recalculate, Recalculate table data with current changes), in order to reduce traffic and ensure fluent response. Thus, the modified cells that are not yet updated to the server, are highlighted with blue background color; the cells updated with the server are shown with dark-blue bold text. When using cache memory, the user can send the data to the server for recalculation as often as necessary. Only the modifications stored in the cache memory since the last save operation (recalculation) or since the beginning of editing, can be rolled back [Undo] in the pivot grid table. In order to undo the recalculated changes, it is necessary to roll back the whole transaction. All changes are isolated within the user session, they are not accessible to other users until the transaction is fixed. The data can be entered both to list type members and to aggregates. When editing aggregates, allocation mechanisms are applied automatically based on the number of subordinated list members. Generally, there is a large number of members in the cube dimensions, therefore automatic allocation should be used with caution, as it can generate millions of records, which would substantially slow down the application or turn it inoperative. For this reason, the number of updated cells shall be controlled and limited, and the developer of the MDX query should determine the updating rules in the UPDATE CUBE command.

JavaOne 2012: The JBoss Data Grid, or Enterprise-grade Infinispan
In an increasing number of disciplines and industries, data volume and complexity has become both a challenge and an opportunity. Application developers are tasked with bridging the gap between challenge and opportunity and one tool in a developer's belt to help build that bridge is a data grid. Red Hat JBoss Data Grid - the supportable version of the Infinispan open source project - is a manageable, scalable, highly available, distributed, in-memory data store that lets you scale horizontally, based on memory and distribution across commodity hardware rather than relational database management system (RDBMS) licenses, database expertise or specialist hardware. Manik Surtani will provide a high-level overview of Red Hat JBoss Data Grid, discussing its benefits, common use-cases, and specific features meant to address today's data challenges and opportunities. Presenter: Manik Surtani Bio: Manik Surtani is a core R&D engineer at Red Hat JBoss Middleware. He is the founder of the Infinispan project, which he currently leads. He is also the spec lead of JSR 347 (Data Grids for the Java Platform), and represents Red Hat on the Expert Group of JSR 107 (Temporary caching for Java). His interests lie in cloud and distributed computing, big data and NoSQL, autonomous systems and highly available computing. He has a background in artificial intelligence and neural networks, highly available e-commerce systems and enterprise Java. Surtani is a strong proponent of open source development methodologies, ethos, and collaborative processes, and has been involved in open source since his first forays into computing.

As with all new releases, you have the common denominator of updated packages, an updated kernel that provides more and better hardware support, as well as a slew of updated tools. Kali Linux Website: https://www.kali.org/ VirtualBox Guest Additions Features The Guest Additions offer the following features below: - Improved Video Support: While the virtual graphics card which VirtualBox emulates for any guest operating system provides all the basic features, the custom video drivers that are installed with the Guest Additions provide you with extra high and non-standard video modes as well as accelerated video performance. - Mouse Pointer Integration: This provides with seamless mouse support. A special mouse driver would have to be installed in the guest OS, which would exchange information with the actual mouse driver on the host. The special mouse driver then allows users to control the guest mouse pointer. - Time Synchronization: With the Guest Additions installed, VirtualBox can ensure that the guest's system time is better synchronized with that of the host. - Shared Folders: These provide an easy way to exchange files between the host and the guest. - Seamless Windows: With this feature, the individual windows that are displayed on the desktop of the virtual machine can be mapped on the host's desktop, as if the underlying application was actually running on the host. - Shared Clipboard: With the Guest Additions installed, the clipboard of the guest operating system can optionally be shared with your host operating system. Forced Flushing (Part 2)
Reliant Technology http://www.reliant-technology.com 1.877.227.0828 You'll see the effects of this forced flushing in environments that may not even be the cause of your issue. For example, I've got a database system or a virtualized farm that is hammering away at my cache on the storage system and it causes my cache to hit 100% and now my array is doing force flushing. You will see the effects of this event on a completely different environment. For example, my exchange environment will start freaking out and say, "Hey, I'm not able to write data to my database fast enough because there's some latency in the storage." Even though the cause of the intensive IO was from an Oracle database that had nothing to do with exchange, exchange is the one that's experiencing the slow performance as a result.

Solutions for Emerging Market Sales Analysis - Part 10
Relational Solutions open architecture is used to integrate emerging market data from Russia, Brazil, China, India, and others. We customize the data model depending on your companies requirements. There is no plug and play solution for all different ways you may want to look at data. So we customize that for each customer. However, we do have a data integration engine that does integrate data based on data types. So whether or not you are getting emerging market data feeds through an FTP site, in a csv file, as a text file, through EDI, AS2 or from a third party, we can integrate it. We put the data into an easy to use format that’s easy and quick to access. We can also automate report delivery and still allow for ad hoc querying by power users. The result is a better understanding of your overall sales, including emerging markets, far more employee productivity, and more productive meetings. In addition, you have more access to reliable information than you’ve ever had. This data will help you know more about your business, provide more value to your management, understand your customer’s better and provide more insights to generate more profits. Our SmartSolution architecture is open. The data base is independent and can reside on Teradata, Oracle, DB2 and most others. If you can imagine everything on the left side of the white line exists at most large CPG companies. This is just a sample of data sources, but you get the concept. On a nightly basis our BlueSky Integration Studio looks for new data. Any new data is then brought into our staging area where we cross reference the retailer data with your internal data, map the data, apply business rules, we align internal data with external data and we load the data into the POSmart data model. End users can then easily access and query the data. Reports that were scheduled to run are then cached on the server so when end users come in in the morning, all their reports are already there and waiting for them. In addition, analysts are able to create new reports.
