Google Trends is a highly resourceful tool that you can use to search the popularity (or the lack thereof) of products, companies, industries, people, basically anything. In this video, I specifically focus on searching products/companies and industries. With Google Trends you can search the following things: 1) Interest over time in a search time (I use examples of Atkin's Diet, Affiliate Marketing, MLM, and Digital Altitude). You can adjust the time period of the search, location (region), and categories. I typically only adjust the time period and leave everything else as is. 2) The countries/regions that have the highest interest in that search term 3) Relevant topics. So if you search "atkin's diet" you can scroll down and see any relevant topics that have a surge in searches. At the time of this recording, "Kim Kardashian has a 2300% increase in searches when we researched "Atkin's Diet." You can also use this tool to check upcoming product or company launches and search terms that are on the decline. Basically if you see a product, company, or industry on an upward trend or stable that a good sign. If you see it on a downward trend that's a bad sign and probably not something you want to spend more time on researching. Also, if a company or product just launched, usually you'll see a spike in searches and then an immediate downward trend - this is normal because it's just adjusting for the spike in searches due to the new launch. How do they work individually, and how do they work together? Starting off, Product Discovery’s purpose is to help you find incredible products to sell. It’s difficult coming up with new product ideas, and YouProduct Discovery helps pull out the GREAT ones. You input what you’re looking for, click search, and build a list of relevant and incredible markets you didn’t even know existed. There are four ways to find products with Product Discovery. On top of finding new products for you, Product Discovery also gives you the chance to do a number of other things. Full brand breakdowns allow you to either pull up brands that are doing well, or type in a competing brand to keep an eye on the competition and replicate other brand’s success. Full subcategory breakdowns allow you to see how entire categories or subcategories are performing. Product Discovery lets you dig into data to not only make smart sourcing decisions, but to keep up to date on what’s happening in each market and with your competition. Product Discovery gives you the idea for the product, and Market Intelligence helps you dig into even MORE data for the product market. You’ll use Market Intelligence to either say - “Hey, this actually IS a great market” - OR - “Nope, this market SUCKS”. If Product Discovery is step one, Market Intelligence is step 2. Find the product with Product Discovery, validate it with Market Intelligence. Now, you can also use Market Intelligence to validate an idea of your own. If you have an idea for a market, but you found it outside of Product Discovery, you can plug it into Market Intelligence, and look at the data to say either of the same thing - “YEP” or “NOPE”. Alright, so Product Discovery was step 1. Market Intelligence is step 2. Keyword Research is present, and should be used, throughout the research process. It IS it’s own ‘step three’, however is also involved in ‘Steps 1-3’ . It’s purpose is to help you really dig into two primary things: search volume and relevant keywords. Simply put, it is it’s own tool, and has its own step in the product research process, but is directly integrated into both Product Discovery and Market Intelligence to be involved throughout the entire research process. As you’re using product discovery to find product markets, you’ll be able to use Keyword Research to see exactly how many people are searching for that market. As youre using Market Intelligence, you’ll be able to do the exact same thing. On its own, however, plugging in a keyword will bring up the most relevant keywords to build out your listing. You’ll be able to see exact search volume, search trends, and a whole lot more. With Listing builder, you’ll also be able to plug your ASINs listing in directly, and use the tool to build-out your products listing using a combination of our search algorithms and exact search volume from Amazon. Keyword research you’ll be using in conjunction with Product Discovery and Market Intelligence to see exactly whether people are searching for those products or not, and you’ll be using it on its own to look up other, extremely relevant and valuable keywords as well as build out your listing. Product Discovery, Market Intelligence, and Keyword Research - each tools in their own right. Together, however, they make up the Pro Package. You really need to find out what people think about your industry, your product, the type of book you are writing, what they think of a particular art form in general, what they think of you already so that you know your entry point that you need to enter upon in to be able to influence the minds of people, to get them thinking the way that you want them to. If you have people that are very bitter and sarcastic about a certain subject, or a particular industry and you are starting or launching a company, or putting on a new product in the midst of this sort of reaction, you know, that people dont like it or they are sarcastic or they dont believe it. If you dont do your market research first, so that you know how to enter upon that particular feeling and start getting people to gradually get less sarcastic and start getting them to believe it, and so forth, you are fighting an uphill battle. You can spend a lot of money on a product launch without doing your market research and that includes survey instruments to find out what your particular target market is thinking and that is a PR technology, a tool that is rarely used and it is one of the most highly effective technologies out there. We're here to answer your questions. If you have one, leave a comment below, and we may answer it in next week's episode. So Adam, what's this week's question? This one is from Dipak. It says, hey Neil, thanks for making this awesome video. Would you like to make one video about product launches? Like pros and cons during the launch process? The first thing you need to know when you're doing a product launch is that you need to have a platform that allows you not only to sell the product but to deliver the product. A simple way to sell the product is using click funnels. A simple way to deliver the product is using Kajabi. Kajabi allows you to deliver a course to people once they buy. Click Funnels allows you to optimize the funnels so you can get more purchases and sales. Technically, Kajabi can do all of that. But I prefer Click Funnels on the front end, and I love using Kajabi on the back end to deliver the course, drip people the content over time. Now that you got the software solutions, what you want to do is create a web page with the offering for your product launch. Use Click Funnels to create a video talking about your product, the price points, what they're going to get for it, and you can just create a script. Create a little quick intro video on Click Funnels. You can do this on your iPhone. You say in this intro video, hey everyone, wanna learn how to grow your YouTube channel? Register for this webinar. I'm going to show you 11 secrets on how to grow your YouTube channel. Once they register, you have a PowerPoint presentation. The PowerPoint presentation is going to be around 45 minutes to an hour. The first 30 minutes you're going to educate them on all these cool crazy YouTube tactics. Don't charge for it. Just give away all the information for free. After you do that, you said, hey, now that you've learned everything, do you want to hear a simpler way to grow your YouTube channel? I showed you all the ways that you can do it on your own, but would you like to learn some of the hacks that I use that speed up the process so that way you don't have to take seven, eight months to get results and you could get results in three months? Usually, people say yes. Then you hook them with a special offer. Normally, if I did one on one YouTube consulting and you went to people in person, you're going to charge five figures. You would end by saying, but, if you want to do this, I have a special offer for you, you can get it now for whatever price. Once you have people are saying yes, yes, yes. Then what you want to do is send them to a page where they can check out. You can do this all on Click Funnels. You can also do this live. You host a live webinar once a month, or you can make an evergreen webinar. If you want to make an evergreen webinar, webinar jam has software called everwebinar. Once you've completed those steps, you can drive traffic to your product launch using YouTube ads or Facebook ads. Facebook ads tend to convert better than YouTube ads. The other strategy for a product launch is to go to all the popular bloggers in your space, contact them and offer to give them 30, 40, 50% of every single sale you drive. Do a joint webinar with them. They'll push your product, and you can generate sales. ConvertKit does a wonderful job of this. Their revenue figures are public. They're doing over ten million a year in revenue. Most of their revenue is driven by affiliates and launches. Another product launch tip is to contact all of the people who clicked on your check out page but didn't buy. You re-market to them with the YouTube and Facebook video that breaks in with what they would get if they purchase. Send them back to the check out page. You'll notice it will be your highest converting ad campaign. That's what we did. It has worked amazingly well. It still works. A great idea is to release the product in a test mode. The product does not need to be perfect, because you are just testing the market. You can also try to make some pre selling and try to offer the product to people even before you have produced it. That strategy will help you make a good market research without destroying the market. You will get an idea of how much you are going to sell and how profitable that product can be. In the beginning you are a beginner and people are not going to copy you. But, as you become more successful, more and more people are going to try to steal your idea. Big corporation cannot outcompete the minor players every time. However, you do not need to worry about this all the time. It is also possible sometimes to come out with a product that can boom and become successful. It is hard for huge corporations to release new products regularly. They rely on products that they know they are proven to work.
