Analytical Functions in oracle explained with real examples

25:24
This video explains analytical functions and how they are implemented in real projects. Analytical functions are somewhat similar to aggregate functions, but they offer much more. Why use analytical function ? They allow you to write fast and concise queries which otherwise will involve self join and long processing times They allow you to perform aggregate functions independently on sets of partitions. You can access values from previous rows in current row and you can restrict the window on which you want to apply this analytical function. I have given additional practice exercises along with the dataset so that you can comfortably work with analytical functions. You can find the sample problems along with dataset in the below link. http://www.internshipsfromhome.com/oracle-analytical-functions-ddl-and-dml/

Oracle LOWER Function

01:30
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-upper-lower/ The Oracle LOWER function is used to convert a string to a lowercase value. It’s useful for comparing text or string values that may have mixed case, such as user input or data from different tables. The opposite of the LOWER function is the UPPER function (which converts to upper case). The syntax of LOWER is: LOWER(input_string) The input_string is the string value to convert to a lower case value. It can be any of CHAR, VARCHAR2, NCHAR, NVARCHAR2, CLOB, or NCLOB. The return type is the same as the input type. You can use the LOWER function in a WHERE clause. However, unless you have a function-based index on the column, any indexes won’t be used. For example, if you have an index on first_name, a query that uses “WHERE LOWER(first_name)” won’t use this index. You’ll have to create an index on the LOWER(first_name) for this to be used. It’s not required, but it’s just something to keep in mind. For more information about the Oracle LOWER function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-upper-lower/

Rank and Dense Rank in SQL Server

10:08
rank and dense_rank example difference between rank and dense_rank with example rank vs dense_rank in sql server 2008 sql server difference between rank and dense_rank In this video we will discuss Rank and Dense_Rank functions in SQL Server Rank and Dense_Rank functions Introduced in SQL Server 2005 Returns a rank starting at 1 based on the ordering of rows imposed by the ORDER BY clause ORDER BY clause is required PARTITION BY clause is optional When the data is partitioned, rank is reset to 1 when the partition changes Difference between Rank and Dense_Rank functions Rank function skips ranking(s) if there is a tie where as Dense_Rank will not. For example : If you have 2 rows at rank 1 and you have 5 rows in total. RANK() returns - 1, 1, 3, 4, 5 DENSE_RANK returns - 1, 1, 2, 3, 4 Syntax : RANK() OVER (ORDER BY Col1, Col2, ...) DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY Col1, Col2, ...) RANK() and DENSE_RANK() functions without PARTITION BY clause : In this example, data is not partitioned, so RANK() function provides a consecutive numbering except when there is a tie. Rank 2 is skipped as there are 2 rows at rank 1. The third row gets rank 3. DENSE_RANK() on the other hand will not skip ranks if there is a tie. The first 2 rows get rank 1. Third row gets rank 2. SELECT Name, Salary, Gender, RANK() OVER (ORDER BY Salary DESC) AS [Rank], DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY Salary DESC) AS DenseRank FROM Employees RANK() and DENSE_RANK() functions with PARTITION BY clause : Notice when the partition changes from Female to Male Rank is reset to 1 SELECT Name, Salary, Gender, RANK() OVER (PARTITION BY Gender ORDER BY Salary DESC) AS [Rank], DENSE_RANK() OVER (PARTITION BY Gender ORDER BY Salary DESC) AS DenseRank FROM Employees Use case for RANK and DENSE_RANK functions : Both these functions can be used to find Nth highest salary. However, which function to use depends on what you want to do when there is a tie. Let me explain with an example. If there are 2 employees with the FIRST highest salary, there are 2 different business cases 1. If your business case is, not to produce any result for the SECOND highest salary, then use RANK function 2. If your business case is to return the next Salary after the tied rows as the SECOND highest Salary, then use DENSE_RANK function Since we have 2 Employees with the FIRST highest salary. Rank() function will not return any rows for the SECOND highest Salary. WITH Result AS ( SELECT Salary, RANK() OVER (ORDER BY Salary DESC) AS Salary_Rank FROM Employees ) SELECT TOP 1 Salary FROM Result WHERE Salary_Rank = 2 Though we have 2 Employees with the FIRST highest salary. Dense_Rank() function returns, the next Salary after the tied rows as the SECOND highest Salary WITH Result AS ( SELECT Salary, DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY Salary DESC) AS Salary_Rank FROM Employees ) SELECT TOP 1 Salary FROM Result WHERE Salary_Rank = 2 You can also use RANK and DENSE_RANK functions to find the Nth highest Salary among Male or Female employee groups. The following query finds the 3rd highest salary amount paid among the Female employees group WITH Result AS ( SELECT Salary, Gender, DENSE_RANK() OVER (PARTITION BY Gender ORDER BY Salary DESC) AS Salary_Rank FROM Employees ) SELECT TOP 1 Salary FROM Result WHERE Salary_Rank = 3 AND Gender = 'Female' Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/rank-and-denserank-in-sql-server.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/10/rank-and-denserank-in-sql-server_1.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists

SQL Script to create Employees table Create table Employees ( ID int, FirstName nvarchar(50), LastName nvarchar(50), Gender nvarchar(50), Salary int ) GO Insert into Employees values (1, 'Mark', 'Hastings', 'Male', 60000) Insert into Employees values (1, 'Mark', 'Hastings', 'Male', 60000) Insert into Employees values (1, 'Mark', 'Hastings', 'Male', 60000) Insert into Employees values (2, 'Mary', 'Lambeth', 'Female', 30000) Insert into Employees values (2, 'Mary', 'Lambeth', 'Female', 30000) Insert into Employees values (3, 'Ben', 'Hoskins', 'Male', 70000) Insert into Employees values (3, 'Ben', 'Hoskins', 'Male', 70000) Insert into Employees values (3, 'Ben', 'Hoskins', 'Male', 70000) The delete query should delete all duplicate rows except one. Here is the SQL query that does the job. PARTITION BY divides the query result set into partitions. WITH EmployeesCTE AS ( SELECT *, ROW_NUMBER()OVER(PARTITION BY ID ORDER BY ID) AS RowNumber FROM Employees ) DELETE FROM EmployeesCTE WHERE RowNumber ] 1

Oracle's Fiscal Year End

01:33
Today is Oracle’s fiscal year end. Keep calm and listen to our advice for Oracle customers. Today is a big day in the Oracle ecosystem, its Oracle’s fiscal year end. So if you are an Oracle customer what that probably means is you are being barraged with emails and phone calls and text messages from the vendor, all trying to get you to sign a deal on the last day of the quarter, if you haven’t done one already. Oracle is obviously trying to get as much revenue into this fiscal year as possible. Now many of you will feel pressured from Oracle, feel like you have a lack of leverage and the vendor sort of has you over a barrel as they are trying to extract revenue from you. And the one piece of advice is, just remember that you have June. If Oracle is proposing a deal to you that is not fair in your opinion and not equitable and doesn’t have the terms and conditions that you require, you can continue those negotiations on Friday. The deal won’t go away even though Oracle makes some claims. They will take your money in June or July or August or September as easily as they will take it today. So I encourage you all to keep that in mind. That piece of advice can save you millions of dollars and get you the terms that you need. If you want some more information and you ever need some assistance with your Oracle negotiations and relationships please reach out to us at palisadecompliance.com. Good luck over the next few hours and we will see you on the other side in the next Oracle fiscal year.

Excel: How to Best Import External Data into Excel & Import data from the Web to Excel

11:16
Get the full course: https://courses.xelplus.com Excel has various tools that can help you easily clean up your raw data for further analysis. Apart from using formulas and formatting, there are two useful Excel features that let you easily clean up. One method is text to columns feature and the other to import external data. The Get External Data tool can be used to import and analyse data from other systems. This tool is also useful for importing data to run your dashboards or do further analysis using pivot tables, etc. Usually you can get data extracts from any system (e.g. “.dat” or “.csv” from Oracle, “.xml” files from SAP, etc.). These can be imported into Excel. Importing External Data also gives you control over the decimals and thousand separator, especially if you’re dealing with international companies. In the US, the decimal is dot and the comma is a thousand separator and in most European countries it’s the other way round, where the comma is a decimal and the dot a thousand separator. It’s always safest to Import it properly with the Excel Data Import wizard! After importing press Ctrl + T to create a table out of it. You can create a pivot table off this one, and when you do, even if you add more data to it, the pivot reflects the new data. Importing Data from the Web / Internet into Excel – creating web queries that refresh automatically: In Excel you can also import data directly from the web. You basically create a web query which you set to refresh automatically based on your preference. ★ My Online Excel Courses ► https://courses.xelplus.com/ ✉ Subscribe & get my TOP 10 Excel formulas e-book for free https://www.xelplus.com/free-ebook/ EXCEL RESOURCES I Recommend: https://www.xelplus.com/resources/

KISS series on Analytics: 11 Window clause examples

03:39
Welcome to the KISS video series. Solving problems that typically required complicated SQL in the past, that can now be easily solved with Analytic SQL syntax. In this session, we look at more examples with the window clause. The sample problem we'll solve is: Use the WINDOW clause to sum across 1 row either side of the current row. jQuery datatables get data from database table

21:04
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/08/jquery-datatables-get-data-from.html In this video we will discuss how to use database data with jQuery datatables plugin. There are many ways to get data into DataTables. If the data is small you can retrieve all the data at once and the processing (i.e paging, searching, ordering) is done on the client-side. On the other hand if the database data is large, server-side processing can be enabled. With server-side processing enabled, all paging, searching, ordering actions that DataTables performs are handed off to the server. In this video we will discuss retrieving all the data at once. The datatables plugin performs all the processing (i.e paging, searching, ordering etc) on the client-side. We want to retrieve data from the following database table tblEmployee. The database data should then be displayed using jQuery datatables plugin

11 Tips You Should Know When Paying With A Credit Card

09:07
11 tips you should know when paying with a credit card. As the world we live in continues to develop into a more technologically advanced society, there are new risks to consider and be cautious of when it comes to shopping and using credit cards. Since we’ve turned our currency into plastic and digital numbers, it can sometimes be easier to be scammed or robbed—and it’s not just online shopping to be worrisome of. Fraud can occur at, Restaurants, Shopping Malls, Cafés, and more. From identity thieves to scammers of all sorts, you never know when your private information may be at risk! #CreditCard #CreditCardSecurity #FraudPrevention Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Summary: 12. Size. Skimming terminals are usually slightly larger than a regular one. You can tell them apart by the amount of space your card has at the bottom. The standard space is about one inch, whereas the skimmer is about a centimeter. This can be further tested by noting the width of the machine. A skimming device would have thicker rims. 11. Dim Screen. When skimmers are inserted, they often block the highlighting mechanism on the terminal. If you notice that it’s dim, this could be a sign of a skimmer. Most terminals have a function that lights up the buttons which is something you may not have noticed before. 10. Operation errors. Frequent operation errors are another sign that a skimmer may be in use. Skimmers often affect the magnetic strip and can slow down the function of the terminal. 9. Stylus attachment. Is there a stylus attached? Terminals with skimmers don’t allow the stylus to be attached. Pay close attention to the terminal you are using as all regular terminals will have a stylus attached in order for a signature to be made. 8. Keep your account number to yourself. There are all sorts of ways scam artists can try to gain access to your credit card number. This is why you should practice keeping all your information, including your account number, private. 7. Go paperless. You may want to consider signing up for paperless statements and doing all your payments and other banking online. This will remove the possibility of any of your personal banking information getting into the wrong hands. Once you do this, you should also shred any documents that have any of your private or personal information. It is always better to be safe rather than sorry, right?! 6. Keep your bank up to date. It is extremely important to keep all your information current. If you move, be sure to let your bank know. Your statements and other mail should all go to your new address so that they don't end up in the wrong hands. You should also check with your bank and other service providers that they have your right contact information, including your phone number and email address. You should do this on a fairly consistent basis. 5. Sign up for fraud alerts. When you sign up for fraud alerts, you can protect yourself from getting scammed. Fraud alerts will alert you when suspicious activity is occurring on one of your accounts, and some alerts will even notify you or contact you any time a new account is made under your name. 4. Receipts. You should also always be extremely careful with all of your receipts. Check your receipts against your bills and statements to make sure that there are not any discrepancies. And try to void throwing out receipts. You should shred the ones you don't need and file the rest in a safe and secure spot. You should also try to make sure that no one has access to any of your receipts. 3. Passwords. Keep all your passwords to yourself. Although this seems like common sense, you might be surprised. Make sure that your password is secure and that it has a good combination of letters and numbers. Don't make passwords that contain any of your information that a friend or family member would be able to guess. 2. Review your account activity. This is something you should be doing on a regular basis. You can check your account activity by going online or even through the phone. 1. Report lost cards immediately. If you think you have misplaced your credit card but aren't sure, it's better to be safe than sorry. In the event that that does happen, report your last card right away. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Bestie : https://goo.gl/tUqro6 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestieinc/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PL SQL Tutorials for Beginners | IF THEN ELSE Conditions

08:44
PL/SQL includes procedural language elements such as conditions and loops. It allows declaration of constants and variables, procedures and functions, types and variables of those types, and triggers. It can handle exceptions (runtime errors). Arrays are supported involving the use of PL/SQL collections. Implementations from version 8 of Oracle Database onwards have included features associated with object-orientation. One can create PL/SQL units such as procedures, functions, packages, types, and triggers, which are stored in the database for reuse by applications that use any of the Oracle Database programmatic interfaces. The IF-THEN-ELSIF statement allows you to choose between several alternatives. An IF-THEN statement can be followed by an optional ELSIF...ELSE statement. The ELSIF clause lets you add additional conditions. When using IF-THEN-ELSIF statements there are few points to keep in mind. It's ELSIF, not ELSEIF An IF-THEN statement can have zero or one ELSE's and it must come after any ELSIF's. An IF-THEN statement can have zero to many ELSIF's and they must come before the ELSE. Once an ELSIF succeeds, none of the remaining ELSIF's or ELSE's will be tested. Subscribe to our Channel for more videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7sbHUgN8FnJEZkEjvKTwJg

Archangel Ariel wants to help you connect with your spiritual strengths in a healing communion with nature. You are experiencing a great deal of contrast and struggle as you feel compelled into service. However, you keep experiencing mental and emotional fog. It keeps you from taking action out of caution, as your ego fears the changes you're inspired to make. One of the ascension symptoms you're dealing with is provoked by your ego to offer internal criticism to break down and shred every idea you receive. You may experience tremendous self doubt fueled with thoughts of inadequacy. This kind of self talk is also creating similar barriers in your communication and understanding of others. You must learn to forgive yourself, in order to heal and to see the light in others. There are powerful opportunities for you to collaborate with others for the greater good. Don't let your pain and suffering hinder you from growing. Use your creativity to channel your pain into service that helps to realize powerful change.
