My suggestion is as follows - disclaimer - but as there can be many variables or possibilities your guess would be as good as mine! Try: 1) Login in as admin (not run as) and download JRE manually onto PC. Make sure the download is complete and check size is OK. Same for the update. 2) Close all browsers 3) if corrupt and no restore pt/backup, you have to remove all previous Javas (JRE/updates) via the uninstall old versions process via the java site, or 'patch my pc', or 'revo uninstaller' or the java remove tool or control panel. Remove Java updates first, then JRE applet in control panel. . Also disable all java add-ons in the browser as these may be old or corrupt, if these have not been removed. 4) Restart machine or if prompted (to clear and fix changes) and log back in as admin. 5) use ccleaner to clean and registry clean 6) Check which compatible browser for which OS (java site) 7) Install the correct JRE (first) via manual download and then the update. Do the update for each browser but CLOSE browser to do the update. 8) Open the browser and check 'do i have java', then if prompted run the plugin for that browser. If you have not fixed it by now, you have either a corrupt OS, virus or add-on issue. It could also be another programme conflict. A clean reinstall may be a last resort if all else fails. Hindsight advice: When a PC is running fine, always make a backup to restore to should there be a problem or issue in a new install. A clone is the best but tedious which will ensure you can go back to that point when everything worked fine. If you install without a proper download, or the download itself is corrupt, and changes are made to the system, you can have difficulty to restore the system back to its original trouble-free state. You could try 'Toolwiz Freeze' and start the freeze before any install, and if all OK stop the 'freeze' and turn off the protection and save changes (if all OK) or drop changes (if not - to go back to state before 'freeze'). In Windows 7 PCs, usually remove/uninstall is done via control panel compared to other options suggested above for XP (NB:On April 8, 2014, support and updates for Windows XP will no longer be available - visit Microsoft windows support site for details). How to Install Oracle's Java in Linux
Hello YouTube, it's TheLinuxNoob here. Today I'm going to show you the easiest way on how to install Oracle's version of Java in any Debian based Linux distrobution. Such as Ubuntu, or Linux Mint. The first thing you want to do, is enter this command in the terminal: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java After that, press enter. What this does, is it adds Oracle's repository to your system so you can install Java straight from the terminal. Now you need to update your repositories. You do that by entering: sudo apt-get update After you have updated all of your repositories, now you can install Java. Now you just have to enter: sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer Now you'll be prompted with a message, press enter, now press the left arrow key, and press enter again. The terminal will run for a while, and when it's complete you can exit out. I hope this tutorial helped everyone out. I remember when I first started out on Linux, no one had a tutorial on how to do this the proper way.

If you have previously installed older version of JDK/JRE, un-install ALL of them. Goto "Control Panel" = "Programs" = "Programs and Features" = Un-install ALL programs begin with "Java", such as "Java SE Development Kit ...", "Java SE Runtime ...", "Java X Update ...", and etc. Step 1: Download JDK Goto Java SE download site @ http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html. Under "Java Platform, Standard Edition" = "Java SE 10.0", where x denotes a fast running update number = Click the JDK's "Download" button. Under "Java SE Development Kit 10.0.x" = Check "Accept License Agreement". Choose the JDK for your operating system, i.e., "Windows" for 64-bit Windows OS, and download the installer e.g., "jdk-10.0_windows-x64_bin.exe" - 390MB. Step 2: Install JDK and JRE Run the downloaded installer e.g., "jdk-10.0.windows-x64_bin.exe", which installs both the JDK and JRE. By default: JDK is installed in directory "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-10.0.x, where x denotes the upgrade number; and JRE is installed in "C:\Program Files\Java\jre-10.0.x". Steps: 1) Search for JDK on Google. 2) You'll land into an Oracle.com URL like this one: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/es/java/javase/downloads/index.html 3) Select the JDK link and then select the latest version. 4) Read the license, if you agree with it accept it, and select the right download for your machine. If you need to know if your machine is a 32 bits or a 64 bits one, use the advice from this KB page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218 5) Once it's downloaded execute it and get it installed. 6) When it finish installing, make sure the Java runtime works (java.exe) and that the compiler works too (javac.exe). 7) If the compiler is not found, add the directory where it was installed to the PATH environment variable. Then also add the JDK installation directory into a new environment variable named JAVA_HOME, this will help you with other programs in the future.
