English Travel Vocabulary: Planning a Trip
http://www.engvid.com Are you going to travel? Make sure you're prepared with the vocabulary you will need for your business trip or vacation. In this lesson, I'll teach you the English vocabulary you must know for travel -- from preparing your travel itinerary and making reservations, to getting your visas and boarding your flight. It is essential that you know this basic English travel vocabulary, because English is an international language. ESL students who are studying abroad will find these words very helpful. Even if you are not travelling to an English-speaking country, as a tourist, you will need to communicate with people at the airport, and at tourist attractions. Watch this lesson, take the quiz, and have a safe trip! http://www.engvid.com/english-travel-vocabulary-planning-a-trip/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. Welcome again to www.engvid.com. My name is Adam. Today, I'm talking about a very interesting topic because, for example, in Toronto right now, it's very, very cold. I'm thinking about travelling; I would love to go somewhere hot to get away from this winter. So, when I travel, I have, of course, to make travel arrangements. So here, we have a list of words, a list of things that you must think about before you go on a trip to a different country. We're going to go over each of these. We're going to start with "booking" and "reservation". Now, many people think that this is more or less the same, which it is. To book something or to reserve something means to keep a place, to keep your place. You book a flight, you book a hotel room. Generally speaking, you make a reservation at a restaurant; you make a booking with a travel agency or with a hotel, with accommodations, any type of accommodation. Speaking of, accommodations are hotel, motel, hostel, B&B, bed and breakfast; all kinds of accommodations. Make sure you have a booking before you go, so your place is safe, it's kept for you. When you arrive, it's all good. Next, when you're at your destination, the place you're going to, you might want to "rent" a car. Okay? Sorry, this is accommodation. One thing I wanted to also make sure - "accommodations", without the "s", "accommodation" means something different. Okay? "Accommodations" is where you're going to sleep. And you might want to "rent" a car. You can also "hire" a car. Means the same thing. British people generally use "hire" more, North Americans use "rent" more often. Next, you have to think about your "baggage". Suitcase, luggage, bags, anything you're carrying with you. You might have "check-in baggage". Sorry, I don't know if you can see this guy. "Check-in baggage" and "carry-on baggage". "Check-in baggage" means you give it to the airline, they put it under the plane, you pick it up at your destination. "Carry-on" means you carry on, so you carry it on your shoulder on to the plane. Okay? In your carry-on, you have to be careful, it has to be small. You can't have liquids because of security and all that stuff. So things that you can't put in your carry-on, you must put in your check-in baggage and give to the airline. Next, when you get to the airport, assuming you're flying, you will have to do a few things that concern the word "boarding". Before you board your plane, get on your plane - you will get a boarding pass that lets you pass through security and into the airport. On the boarding pass, you will see your "boarding time", this is when you get on the plane and your "boarding gate", the place in the airport where you're going to get on your plane before takeoff. Okay? We can also use this for a train. You board a train, you get a boarding pass with a boarding time, and generally a boarding platform. Okay? So "boarding", getting on your vehicle, whatever vehicle that might be. You will also generally need to get a "visa" to many countries. Now, a "visa" is something that you use to get into a country, it gives you permission to stay in that country. But be aware: many places, if you're going through another country... So, for example: I'm going to country "C" via country "B". "Via" means by way of or through. So I might need a "transit visa", means I can go there, switch planes and keep going on my journey. But I'm still in another country, I need a transit visa. Excuse me. Also, make sure you're prepared to spend money as soon as you get to your destination. If you're going to a different country, that country will but using a different "currency", type of money. In Canada, we have Canadian dollar. America has American dollar. Okay? For things like that. In Europe, you need the euro. So make sure you have some of the currency before you go, or purchase it at the airport or at the destination you're going to.

How Do I Pack for a Business Trip?
Hello I’m Alan Whitfield with Harry Rosen. We often get asked about how to pack for a 2 to 3 day business trip. With a little planning you can travel light, especially if you take advantage of your hotel laundry service. Last minute packing generally leads to overpacking and wrinkled clothes. Instead take a moment to study your agenda to determine how many meetings and social occasions you expect to have. What we have laid out here represents a typical wardrobe for 2 to 3 days, assuming you’re also wearing an outfit on the plane. You’ll notice that all of these items can be coordinated with each other. The jacket and trousers can be dressed up or down. No one wants to check luggage. A good carry on and sturdy garment bag like these will carry everything you need. The hanger on a garment bag can take up to three pairs of trousers if your trip requires a longer stay. Place your jacket on top, cover it in dry-cleaner’s plastic, and push out any big air bubbles to prevent wrinkles. If a longer stay is requires you can layer on another jacket and more dry cleaner plastic. The first items in your carry on should be your shoes. Pack them heel down evenly across the floor of the bag to provide a good foundation for the rest of your items. Use the belts and socks as shoe trees to support your shoe’s shape. Use your shoes’ duster bags to protect your shoes and keep your other clothes clean. Now, fill in the gaps with your sunglass case, rolled underwear, t-shirts, and sweatshirt & pants. Try to make the base as flat and even as possible. You can either roll your ties and pack them into the gaps or fold them in four and insert them into the inside pocket of your jacket. Avoid placing them between shoes so that they don’t get pinched and wrinkled along the way. Overtop place your knits and shirts folded from the launderer. Plan on wearing your overcoat on the plane to avoid unnecessary weight on your dress shirts. One of the key tricks to wrinkle free packing is to make sure you unpack and hang everything the moment you arrive at your hotel. If you’re room’s not ready ask the concierge to hang your garment bag for you. You’re all ready to go. Thank you and safe travels.

Minimalist Packing Tips & Hacks - Travel Light With Only Carry-On Luggage!
Best carry-on packing tips + Get a free audio book download & 30 day free trial from Audible at http://www.audible.com/exploringalternatives or text code, "exploringalternatives" to 500-500 if you're in the US. In this video we're tackling the confusing world of carry-on packing. What is the true size of a carry-on suitcase? What can you bring on board? How to pack like a minimalist? We even do a test-pack to show you what we'd pack on a long term trip. We are big fans of traveling light with only the essentials to carry around. Travel doesn't just end at the airport. Whatever you pack for a trip has to be hauled around in taxis, on the bus, on the train, in and out of hotels and hostels. With some careful planning, you can have a great trip with small, easy to handle luggage. A few other reasons why we love carry-on packing is because you can save money by not paying to check a bag, you don't have to wait for your luggage to unload from the plane and waste time at the carousel, and you don't have to worry about losing your luggage or having someone take it by mistake. Here are a few TSA (Travel Security Administration) websites to help you figure out what you can, and can't bring on board. It varies by airline and by country. Verification, Step 6 of 6 - Travel Safety Management.
https://isitsafe.travel/ If your business is to demonstrate adequate safety management, As specified by the law and international standards, You must demonstrate evidence of verification. Verification that you have a safe work system, inclusive of business travel. Verification that your mobility and travel safety management system complies with laws and standards. Verification that management and providers participate and fulfil their role in your travel safety management system, inclusive of business travel. Verification all travellers are aware, compliant and supported by your travel safety management system, for every business trip or work-related travel. Verification that each trip and each traveller is captured, supported, and compliant with your travel safety management system. To test this within your business, select 1 traveller and 1 trip. Now demonstrate all the above, as it applies to that specific traveller and that specific journey. Now apply it to 10 travellers and 10 business trips. Can you confirm they are ALL compliant, managed and supported by your safe work systems, inclusive of business travel. Does your safe work system integrate with your enterprise risk management systems and objectives, not just an ad-hoc travel system? If not, you don’t have adequate evidence to demonstrate travel safety management, in addition to having insufficient evidence of compliance. There are 6 steps in all required. Verification is the last of these requirements. It is not a “pick and choose” arrangement, all steps must be completed. Verification is your proof and confirmation. No proof, no travel safety management system. That simple. The learn more about business travel safety management and your obligations, Visit www.isitsafe.travel . Top 5 Common Mistakes on a Long Motorcycle Trip - How to avoid them?
Long Motorcycle Trip - What we need to know? Did you plan your long motorcycle trip? Are you sure that you took the right decisions? In this video I will talks about the top 5 common mistakes most of the riders make. I will also tell you few easy tips to avoid it. So guys, it doesn’t matter how good rider you are, how many km you have, if you never been on the long trip you will make some of these mistakes. 1. Mistake N: 1 – Wrong motorcycle. It is very important to have the right bike. What that’s mean? How to choose the one for you? I will try to explain: - Don’t lessen what the people will said. Don’t trust anyone about the type of the motorcycle you should have on the long trip. If you ask ten people, you will probably receive ten different opinions and what is the funny is that they all will be right. Is that possible? Of course it is. - Only you know, how fast you ride, how many km per day you will have and where exactly you will go. So, if we follow this logic, only you can choose the right bike. What you have to do is to learn something about the area you are going. Find all possible information. Terrains, roads, elevations, weather conditions and many more. I told you this many times, but I will tell you again – the preparation is the key of success. Make your homework and you will be happy after that. - To go on long trip in Siberia “road of bones” for example with GS 1200 is not the right decision. The last thing you going to need on such a trip is a heavy bike. - On the other hand to ride on the iron boot competition (1,000miles per day on the highway) with Suzuki DR 400 will be really enthusiastic adventure. - In both cases you will make a terrible mistake. 2. Mistake N: 2 - Wrong gear choice. I have seen many riders keep making the same mistakes. To go on the long trip, with leather suit is not going to be the right choice. It will work, but not every day, not in all conditions. 3. Mistake N: 3 - Too much weight. Most of you guys take way too much. To have already have bike 200-250 kg and to load more 50 on the top it’s not something I will ever do. The weight is always matter. Specially if you have plans to ride off road. 4. Mistake N: 4 - Planed too many or to little km per day. In the first scenario you have to ride too long and you can’t really enjoy the trip. In the second you will travel too slow and will need more time. In both case the result is not going to be what you expect. The best way to learn about your possibilities is to practice. Start with simple day or two trips, they will show how to do it in the future. Once you know your riding stile will be time to open the map and do it properly. Always plan a little less then you can actually ride. 5. Mistake N: 5 - To try to ride and work at the same time. The idea is to ride all day and later in the evening to try to work on the computer or the telephone and keep the business in good order. I have tried this couple of times. Every night when we stopped my friend was relaxing, drinking beers looking around, but I have to stay online, trying to solve all existing problems, to answer all e-mails and so on. The result was a big mess, which one was very difficult to fix later. Do not even try, it is not working! If you can’t leave the business alone, don’t go on the trip or find somebody to replace you. Only then you can really enjoy the journey. I don’t feel as if you owe me anything, but if you find my videos useful, then why not? The world will be much better place if we just help, instead of hate each other! My Crazy Filipino Family Vacation! (EUROPE TRIP)
After quite some time my family reunited back together to go on a European Vacation, something we had not done in 18 years. Traveling is what made me the explorer and thrill seeker I have become today as it was something our family had been doing from the very beginning. We decided to visit Croatia first, in honor of my late grandfather who passed away and also to explore our Croatian roots. 23 Story Electronics Market in China 😱 Better than Alibaba?? Guangzhou wholesale mall sourcing
Click the red subscribe button if you like this video – follow for a new travel video every week. MORE IN THE DESCRIPTION ⬇️ Visiting China? I wrote up some things you should know before going -- http://livinthatlife.com/china-travel-guide/ Chinese wholesale market/mall w 23 Floors. Yes. It's real. It felt like walking thru Alibaba .com lol... I think a lot of the sellers in here are just wholesalers who take orders from sites like Aliexpress.com, alibaba.com, globalsources.com and other wholesale sites around the world.. bc they are always packing up boxes ...... well everywhere around the outskirts of the city of Guangzhou all you see are people moving boxes around haha..... was this better than just scouting for new product ideas on Alibaba.com? Not sure.. sometimes you can get lucky and find that amazingly cool thing.. but that can happen online too.... nonetheless it was a good experience to try out and see what the wholesale scene it all about. ...then we get a bite of some Chinese food, and end it with a preview of the next video, nightlife at O2 club at Party Pier.. click to watch next! The company has received a better offer so Anna needs to convince them that Tip Top Trading's lemons are best. Are you feeling confident Anna? Anna Not really. It was OK speaking to them on the phone but seeing them face-to-face is quite scary. Narrator You'll be fine. Stay calm. They'll be pleased you've taken the time to fly out and see them – but tell them you're grateful for their time and recap what you told them on the phone. Anna Oh yes – beat the price of the competitor but get them to make a bigger order. Narrator Yes. If they order more you can offer a bigger discount. Good luck. Tom Oh look, we're here now. Now Anna, I hope you don't mind me saying, but just leave the talking to me. Right? Anna Err, well… Tom Oh, Madame Brown, ciao, great to see you Trader What? Anna Monsieur Brown. Bonjour. I'm Anna from Tip Top Trading. This is my colleague Tom. Thank you for sparing the time to see us. Trader No problem. Did you have a good flight? Tom It was great. I love those little bottles of wine they give out… I kept a few with me if you fancy a glass of vin rouge? Anna I think we should sit down and discuss business. Trader Of course. Tom Yeah, yeah, good idea. Anna Now, I believe Tutti Fruity has offered you a good price but as I said on the phone, we can beat that. Trader Yes you did. Tom Did you Anna?! Anna But to get this price you've got to buy lots more. Narrator Anna! That's not very subtle. You need to convince them they need to buy more without telling them they have to. Tom What she means is our Imperial Lemons are made with our unique laser curve technology. They are hard wearing and a joy to have on display in any shop window or restaurant. Anna Tom, that's amazing! Tom: I read it on the back of the box! Anna So, we really feel that we have a product that you'll be proud to display. And to get this fantastic price you just need to place an order of 10,000. Tom And we can even throw in a free sample of our new Perfect Peach range. Anna Each lemon comes with a satisfaction guarantee. I know you won't be disappointed. Trader Hmm. It sounds good. OK, I think you have a deal. Narrator Good work Anna. Don't forget to ask him to sign the contract and tell him when he can expect the order to be delivered. Anna OK. I would be grateful if you could just sign the contract. We'll get the lemons to you as quickly as we can. Tom, do you have a pen? Tom Erm, no actually. It was in my bag yesterday but it's gone… it was a nice, a good one too. Trader No problem. I have a pen. There you go. Anna Thank you. It was a pleasure doing business with you. We'll get those lemons to you in two weeks' time. Trader Perfect! Narrator Good work Anna…oh and Tom too. The contract is signed but now you have to deliver what you've promised. There are many ways to clinch a deal; here are some of the phrases Anna used… Thank you for sparing the time to see us. Each lemon comes with a satisfaction guarantee - I know you won't be disappointed. I would be grateful if you could just sign the contract. Thank you. It was a pleasure doing business with you. Narrator So it's been a successful day. It's time for Tom and Anna to fly back to London and tell Paul the good news… or is it? Anna Oh no look, our flight to London is cancelled! It's the last one today. What are we going to do? Tom Well, I guess we're just going to have to stay here for the night. I'll sort out a hotel. Narrator Until next time. Bye!

Just check these playlists to begin your journey with me: https://bit.ly/2l4sMk4 FAQ's: Q Where are you from? A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. I've lived in Amsterdam for 8 years but lost my heart to India. Since 2018 I'm based in Bangalore. See this video for my refugee story: https://bit.ly/2l17T9h Q How can you afford to travel so much? A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. You can watch this video: https://youtu.be/vxfjQO_F1vE and this one: https://youtu.be/dB7plg139wQ to learn more about my story. Q What camera do you film with and what editing software do you use? A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X Q (Why) Are you vegetarian? A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-) Q Why do you usually travel alone? A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own. Q Why do you love India so much? A Watch this video: http://bit.ly/2iyUKkc and this one: https://youtu.be/Sh7E9VisTKQ

mumbai, india vlog || GAP year travels x Mei-Ying Chow
♡ India, Mumbai Travel Vlog || Mei-Ying Chow x Gap Year Traveling ♡ Firstly, HAPPY DIWALI!!! The video where Suzy and I fly into Mumbai as two very innocent, naive, gap year girls... It was a huge culture shock arriving there and rather intimidating at first. We couldn’t leave the hostel, not only because we were situated next to a slum but the roads were too intimidating to cross and we couldn’t speak the language or work the metro. It was also incredibly hot reaching up to 40 celsius easily and as you can see we were nice and sweaty... mmmm! We were very lucky in that we made friends with other travellers and locals who were staying at Bombay Backpackers Hostel so they helped us conquer our fears. Sadly this trip ended with me in quite a state. Delhi belly is quite contagious and Suzy got it pretty bad during the last night so early the morning of our flight out... there was certainly trouble in paradise. One of my favourite things was learning the language out there - we started to pick up things like "my name is" and "hello", "thank you" and some numbers - although that was quite painful as you will see later when we were stuck in a translation for hours listening to them call out the same times and train numbers over and over again. The people were so so lovely and I'm so glad we flew straight here as it got us emerged in the culture quite quickly and pretty much after mumbai we were ready to face anything tbh - even new delhi... It was so much fun to go through this footage again as we visited here back in late April and I was just watching all 50 minutes of raw footage just giggling at the memories and how much of a mess we were. It’s safe to say we got more experienced as time went on. We slowly hacked it but I will say, we definitely didn’t get the hang of things / food poisoning till at least 2 weeks later... bear with us please!
