Companies everywhere spend millions, if not billions, advertising and making sure their name and image gets out to the public. That jingle stuck in your head, that hilarious logo or that punchy slogan – all perfect examples of the ways companies work to get our attention. Naturally, the company name is where it all begins. Have a lousy or embarrassing name and that could dissuade potential customers from buying your product. Some companies have found this out the hard way, while others have lucked out and changed their name to one we all easily recognize today. These following popular companies weren’t always called what we know them by today. In many cases, we think it’s a really good thing someone in the company decided to change things up – or who knows what would have happened? 10 Brands You Didn't Know Changed Their Names

13:17
The history behind the worlds most popular logos. Subscribe: https://goo.gl/Hnoaw3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Description: There are certain brands that are so well known it’s impossible to imagine they were ever called anything else. But lots of huge companies underwent a brand name change. This typically happened early in their history. Their founders had a change of heart, or had a legal dispute, or came up with something better. We’ll give you the fascinating stories behind 10 brands you didn't know changed their names. There are several Internet companies in this list that have really interesting backstories behind their company name changes. Take Amazon for example. We’ll reveal the previous moniker that you can still type into your web browser now and be redirected to Amazon.com. You’ll no doubt laugh out loud at Google and Yahoo!’s original names. Let’s just say, it’s a good job their founders thought up new versions. As for dating app Tinder, its founders had to consult a thesaurus when they decided to move away from their fiery original. Brands like Nike, Subway and Pepsi started out with much longer monikers. Skype’s original name was long too, but its new version led to the company being taken to court. WWE also had a legal dispute over its original brand WWF. Find out why the wrestling federation had to switch its acronym. And learn why fashion brand Coach is changing its name at the end of October 2017. Watch our video to discover 10 brands you didn't know changed their names, and let us know in comments which brand you think should change its name next! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheTalko Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetalko Instagram: https://instagram.com/the_talko ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thetalko.com/

16 FAMOUS LOGOS WITH A HIDDEN MEANING (That We Never Even Noticed)

06:33
How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! 10 Famous Founders Who Don’t Usually Show Their Faces

08:23
Some founders of world-famous brand prefer to stay out of the spotlight and keep themselves a secret. We decided to unveil the mystery and show you the 10 founders of super famous brands producing things you sure use every now and then. Howard Schulz, founder of Starbucks, was inspired by the atmosphere of Italian espresso bars and it’s safe to say that he was the one who made the espresso-based beverages popular in the US. Now you can find a Starbucks almost anywhere in the world. Amancio started his business in the ’70s: He made nightgowns and bathrobes with his wife right in their living room. Once, their German partner declined a huge order and the spouses decided to sell clothes on their own. Later, the company was renamed to Inditex and opened new clothing stores: Massimo Dutti, Pull and Bear, Oysho, Zara Home, Uterqüe, Stradivarius, Lefties, and Bershka. In 2000, the famous Pandora charm bracelet was created: buyers were able to create jewelry of their own design by putting the charms they wanted on the bracelet. Since then, the company has been growing and the Enevoldsen family are one of the richest people in Denmark. In 1969, the musicians from The Doors were recording the album Morrison Hotel. At about the same time, they accidentally came across a diner named Hard Rock Cafe, and their album was exactly in this music style. They made a few pictures in this cafe and then put the photos on the back side of the album cover. A year later, 2 Englishmen called them — Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton and asked them to let them open a cafe in London named Hard Rock Cafe. At the beginning of the 1930s, Ole Kirk opened a company that made ironing boards and ladders, but he soon started making wooden toys. The word “Lego” consists of 2 Danish words: “leg” (play) and “godt” (good). In 1933, Rene founded a company that made shirts for tennis, golf, and sailing. -Lego was founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen in early 1930s, and its name literally translates as “play good”. -Google was created by 2 students from Stanford University — Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Have you ever wondered how today's famous companies got their names? Courtesy their success, the names of these companies are now familiar to us. However, most of them have hidden meaning behind these peculiar names. Here's tracking down how some of the world's biggest technology companies got their names and what they mean Google The internet giant takes its name from 'googol,' the mathematical term for the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros. Amazon Jeff Bezos reportedly wanted a name that began with 'A' so it would appear near the top of an alphabetical list. He thought the world's largest river was anapt name for what he hoped could be its biggest business. Skype Whittled down from the original name of 'Sky Peer-to-Peer' to 'Skyper,' the 'r' was eventually dropped to create the current name. Yahoo Yahoo is both an acronym for 'Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle' and an imaginary species described as rude, noisy, and violent in Jonathan Swift's 'Gulliver's Travels.' Sony The name is derived from 'sonus,' the Latin word for sound and a slang expression 'sonny boy,' which in 1950s Japan described 'smart, presentable young men.' BlackBerry This name was coined in 1999 because the keys on the device resembled the drupelets on the fruit. Oracle This name started as the code for a project that co-founders Larry Ellison and Bob Oats worked on for the CIA. It was a database that was supposed to be able to answer any question about anything. Canon Originally called 'Kwanon' for a Buddhist goddess, the company changed its name to Canon in 1935 to appeal to a worldwide audience. Spotify Co-founders Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon were brainstorming names when Ek misheard an idea as Spotify. Embarrassed by its randomness, they now say the namestems from the words "spot" and "identify."

However, some sources state that it was a clever strategy to ensure Asus are placed near the top of any list of businesses sorted into alphabetical order. 4) Sharp Another large electronics company that got their name from something completely unrelated. Before Sharp produced electronics they made pencils. Their unique mechanical pencil was said to be an ever ready sharp pencil. So to reflect the main unique selling point of their product, the company was called Sharp. It achieved great success making pencils but that all changed when an earthquake in 1923 destroyed their factory. A few years later, Sharp started making radios, and since then they've grown to become a giant electronics company. 3) Volvo The Swedish car manufacturer got their name from Latin. Volvo translates to "I Roll" which makes perfect sense for a car company. However when Volvo first started they didn't make cars. In fact, they originally started out producing ball bearings, and the Latin "I Roll" fits perfectly for ball bearings too. As time went on the owners of Volvo decided to try making a car. Three years later and their first ever car rolled off the production line. 2) American Express American Express doesn't sound like a credit card company but more like a logistic company. That's because American Express started out as a high-speed delivery service back in 1850. The company noticed that they made most of their profit from doing trans-bank deliveries. So they started taking on more bank based jobs and that was their first step into the financial world. As time progressed they became one of the leading financial services corporations. 1) Bluetooth Bluetooth sounds like it got its name from just putting two random words together. In fact, the actual story is far more interesting and it's actually a really smart name. The name Bluetooth came from the Viking king Harald Blatand whose surname literally translates to Bluetooth. His surname, however, is no coincidence as apparently, Harald Blatand suffered from a dead tooth which turned blue. He was known for being able to establish communications between two parties in a non-violent manner. This made him an excellent example when developing communication technologies. The Bluetooth logo is also no accident. It's the initials of Harald Blatand written in Scandinavian Runes. When you combine the two letters you get the Bluetooth logo. ------------------------------------------------------- Vlog Channel: http://www.youtube.com/more5 Twitter: https://twitter.com/OfficialAll5 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sam_all5 Snapchat: SamAll5YT Website: http://www.All5.me -------------------------------------------------------

10 Secrets Hidden Inside Famous Logos

04:34
See more at www.brilliantnews.com Branding nowadays is absolutely everywhere you look. We are constantly bombarded with so many icons and logos that we rarely stop to look further into them, but there are some very interesting and bizarre secrets hiding within these 10 famous logos! 1. Hyundai Bet you think the H logo is just the first letter of the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai? Of course you do! But it actually represents two figures: the happy client shaking hands with the Hyundai salesman, cleverly projecting the subliminal message of a successful car purchase. 2. Apple It was Rob Janoff who was tasked with creating the apple logo back in 1977. Janoff bought a bag of apples and spent the week sketching them, trying to represent the perfect angle where the fruit couldn´t be mistaken for a cherry. This was when he added a bite mark and stumbled across the similarity between Bite and Byte. This was definitely a selling point for Steve Jobs. 3. Vaio The first two letters in the computer company's name symbolize a digital waveform and the io is designed to look like a 1 and a 0, representing binary and the mix of analog and digital. Also the melody that sounds on startup actually derives from the dialtone sounds on a telephone keypad on typing V-A-I-O 4. Amazon Always aiming to please, Amazon designed their logo to represent a smile, projecting a sense of satifaction in their brand. Not only that, but the arrow also starts at ´a´ and finishes at 'z' implying that the company stocks every product you could possibly desire. 5. Toyota T-o-y-o-t-a. All the letters of the companies name can be found within the logo. But what does it represent? You're thinking A big strong buffalo's head or a cowboy with a hat, right? Wrong! It actually represents a needle and thread! This Japanese car manufacturer actually began making weaving machines and keeps its logo to this day! 6. Continental Sometimes overlooked, the continental logo is simple and clever. The first two letters are designed to symbolize a car wheel. 7. Toblerone This awkward-to-eat chocolate treat doesn't just have a simple mountain in its logo. Toblerone is made in Bern, Switzerland, so it´s no surprise to see one of the Swiss alps in its logo. But it also hides a secret bear hidden in the mountain, as Bern is known as the city of bears and the bear symbol is heavily decorated throughout the city. 8. BMW The German motor company started out making airplanes in 1916 and many think that the checker pattern in its logo represents the spinning propellers of an airplane. But it is actually just the design of the Bavarian flag, the part of Germany where the company originated. 9. Domino's Pizza In 1960 College dropout Tom Monaghan borrowed $900 to by a tiny pizza placed called Dominic's. 5 years later he bought 2 more locations. The former owner refused Tom the permission to use his name in the franchise so Tom turned it into Domino's. The dice in the logo represent the first restaurant that he bought, followed by the next two, and he had planned on adding numbers on every new opening. That was before he realized how big the franchise would become. 10. Unilever Who is Unilever, right? It's actually a huge corporation which owns over 400 famous brands. You've only got to look on the back of any of these popular products to find their logo hiding there. (Axe, Lipton, Ben and Jerry's, Dove, Heartbrand, Hellman's) But that's not all, the actual unilever logo is made up of 25 smaller logos, each with a rich meaning. A strand of hair or an icecream representing various brands, to more obscure references, like this bee... Which of these logos surprised you the most? Comment Below!

9 WORST Company Failures!

11:04
Dumbest ways companies have failed to predict the future or made decisions that bankrupted them! Whatever happened to Blockbuster and Borders? Find out on this countdown of epic business blunders! #9. “Kodak”- The Eastman Kodak Company was founded in 1888 and was the most successful company in the photography industry during the 20th Century. They were the leaders in bringing the cutting edge of photographic technology and easy to use cameras to the hands of consumers throughout the world. But Kodak almost met its demise at the hands of a product that it actually invented: digital photography. Kodak invented this technology in 1975, but failed to jump on the innovation, believing that common applications for it were well into the future. Early on, the company thought that the high cost and complexity that would be needed to make a push into the digital front weren’t in Kodak’s best interests. So, Kodak put digital photography to the side to be picked back up when the time was financially advantageous, but they waited too long. By the time they switched gears, they faced competitors who had been perfecting their business models with digital photography at the center, whereas Kodak’s model was still dependent on printed photos. While other companies made deals with websites, phone companies and focused on online based imaging, Kodak floundered and in 2012 filed for Bankruptcy. They have since come back from bankruptcy and started specializing in producing smartphones and tablets. #8. “Pan American”- From 1927 until 1991, Pan Am was the largest airline company in the United States, but due to bad foresight, callous labor practices and an uncontrollable disaster this global giant quickly met its end. The company basically had a monopoly on overseas travel until World War II but was dealt its first major blow when other strong airline companies began to up their game. Pan Am fought off the competitors with its innovations such as jumbo jets and an advanced system for making reservations but these innovations couldn’t match the corporate aptitude and human relations that the other airlines dealt with more astutely. One of the main reasons for Pan Am’s failure was ironically due to its early successes. Because of the sheer size of its fleet, it was the company hit the hardest by the 1973 oil crisis. Just before the crisis, Pan Am had just purchased a number of brand new gas-guzzling Boeing 747s and was forced to dramatically raise ticket prices to recuperate. As it was trying to recover from this setback it had also become a target of terrorism in the Middle East. To the terrorists Pan Am was a symbol of the United States overseas because it was the largest U.S. airline servicing the area. During the Gulf War, in the midst of financial hardships and battles with labor unions, Pan American 103 on a transatlantic flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Detroit was blown up by Libyan nationals above the Scottish town of Lockerbie. The incident scared even more customers away from flying Pan Am and many travel agents would no longer book flights on their planes. All of these events and poor managing of them led Pan American International Airways to declare bankruptcy and completely fold in 1991. #7. “Borders”- Tom and Louis Borders opened their first bookstore in 1971. Their vast selection of books and innovative inventory system turned them into the second biggest chain of book megastores. Due to years of miscalculating the future of book consumption, the bookstore all but vanished in 2011. It all started in the mid 90s when Amazon and other online stores hit the scene. Instead of developing their own website and focusing on online sales, the company decided to further their storefront endeavors and expanded into Europe and Asia opening hundreds of stores. Their competitor Barnes and Noble, did the opposite by preparing for the digital age, perfecting their online sales system and focusing on their storefront operations in the United States. When Borders did start to catch on to the online market they were already far behind and decided to use Amazon as a host for such sales. Because of this, as more and more sales were made online, instead of receiving 100% of the profit they had to share with Amazon. Borders also was caught in the past by devoting lots of money and inventory towards DVDs and CDs at a time when digital music and video was on the rise. While Barnes and Noble developed it’s own e-reader to grab paperless book market by the horns, Borders was extremely slow to adapt to the change. All of these factors came to a boiling point in 2006 when, after several years of losing millions of dollars Borders filed for bankruptcy. By 2011, Borders realized there was no way out and closed most of its remaining stores. The only stores remaining are in southeast asia where it remain Borders in name only, as they were sold to a company named Popular Holdings.

10 Mistakes and Secrets You Never Knew About Famous Logos

08:25
You’d think that the most successful companies in the world invest good money for their logos to be picture-perfect, yet even Google isn’t immune to messing up a logo design. Pay attention to 10 super famous company logos that are hiding something or have design fails and mistakes in them. We all know what the White House looks like, and you’d think there’d be no possible difficulties recreating it in an image. However, there were at least 3 attempts to create a logo, all of which resulted in mistakes. Wikipedia’s logo representing knowledge has a really embarrassing mistake right in the middle of the image! You wouldn’t catch it unless you know Chinese, so we’ll let you in on the big secret. Some people saw a man bending over vomiting in the London Olympics logo, while others were joking that it looked like Lisa Simpson in a compromising position. Salvador Dali hired to design the Chupa Chups logo put the brand’s name on a bright daisy and insisted that the logo be placed on top of the wrapper so that everyone could see it. And it’s basically stayed the same since then! When asked about the imperfection of letter “G” in their logo, Google chose the best route a person can when explaining his or her mistakes. They simply said that they’re aware of the inaccurate “G”, but that was all part of the plan! This slight imperfection makes their image playful and approachable. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS The White House 0:38 Wendy’s 1:29 Wikipedia 2:20 Hershey’s Kisses 3:28 The London Olympics 3:54 7-Eleven 4:42 Chupa Chups 5:17 Walt Disney 6:01 Pepsi 6:47 Google 7:17 SUMMARY -The designers of the White House’s logo made mistakes depicting the arch shape, mixed up the order of the windows and even lost pillars on the roof. -You might see nothing special in Wendy’s white and blue striped collar, but a closer look will reveal the word “mom” right in the center. -Wikipedia logo’s designer meant to write the Chinese word “wi”, but one tiny yet extra stroke made the symbol gibberish. -Lean your head towards your left shoulder, and you’ll get a sweet surprise: a chocolate kiss between the “K” and “I”. -Iranian participants in the London Olympic Games were upset by the peculiar style of the numbers 2012 because they read the word “Zion” in it. -All the letters in the word “eleven” in 7-Eleven logo are capitalized, except for one: the “n”. -The creator of Chupa Chups Spaniard Enric Bernat picked the most famous surrealist artist in the world Salvador Dali himself to design the new brand logo. -Those elegant swirls in the “W”, “i” and “y” in Disney logo look exactly like three sixes in a row. -If you wanna see what Pepsi can potentially do to you, just add a little circle on top of its logo, some arms and legs, and voila. -The letter “G” in Google logo doesn’t look the way it should. It’s not the complete perfect circle it’s supposed to be, and the inner circle is also far from ideal. 16 Famous Brands Logos and their Hidden Meanings

04:54
Have you ever looked at logos and wondered what their meanings were or what inspired the designer? Here are 15 logos that you see almost every day and what they represent. Companies spend millions of dollars coming up with unique and compelling logos that define their brands and make them stand out from their competitors. We see hundreds of them every day, but do we really get what those logos mean? This graphic is a compilation of 40 famous logos and the hidden meaning behind them. Toyota The three ellipses seen in the logo for Toyota represent three hearts: the heart of the customer, the heart of the product, and the heart of progress in the field of technology. Amazon The giant online store aptly takes on the name Amazon to convey its wide store directory. This is further hinted by the arrow linking the ‘A’ to ‘Z’ to say that they have everything from ‘A’ to ‘Z’. Which should be able to satisfy you, hence the dual meaning of the arrow being a smile. Vaio VAIO is Sony’s brand line for its laptops. The logo is not just a sylized brand name but refers to turning analog waves into a digital form too. The analog waves are represented in the ‘V’ and ‘A’. ‘I’ and ‘O’ on the other hand can also refer to 1 and 0, which are the two digits used in binary code, the digital. Toblerone Chocolate again! Toblerone’s logo is lot more complex than Hershey’s. Look closely at the mountain and you’ll be able to spot a bear. The reason for this is because the Swiss chocolate company originated from the city of Bern, Switzerland which is also known as the City of Bears.

Why Tech Companies Always Use Animals in Their Logos

02:12
You probably never noticed this but many technology companies use animals in their logo’s as secret weapon. Twitter, Firefox and Adata for example. It’s not only because people can’t ignore small fluffy kittens. One of our favorite tech geekettes Kalie Moore, the Berlin startup girl, explained to IntoTech just why this is. Logo’s help people identify a brand and is often the first thing people notice. A lot of companies that develop software find it hard to explain their products in a logo. Explaining your products might be hard so finding characteristics symbolized by animals is often a great solution. Did you ever wonder why Firefox uses a fox in their name and logo? A fox symbolizes speed and the butterfly in MSN stands for freedom. What better way to represent your brand in a logo than with a symbolic trait. This makes it easier for people to identify your products and brand. Do not forget the cute factor animals have. It is like owning a cute dog and going for a walk with him or her. People notice you and might even stop to make a comment. Implementing an animal into your logo is just taking this quality a step further. Kalie’s advice to companies; choose an animal people can relate to! Of course the most important thing is that the animal you choose embodies your company and products. Just make sure you have the cute and relatable part on point. No a lot of people will associate a rat with reliable and easy to use software. Kalie would pick her small chiwawa Toby as a mascot for her tech startup. Which animal would you choose for your brand new tech startup? Branding- Your Branding Blueprint

01:09
http://www.yoursmartbrand.com/blueprint -FREE BRANDING BLUEPRINT Branding - its importance and what a brand is from a marketing perspective. Branding is paramount to any business and its success. From a marketing perspective how can a brand or branding of a product be such an integral part? Branding is the heart of your company and the path to success but not every company needs it and some will need it far more so than others. Branding suggests a way and a method to how you best please your customers and what your business means to them. Your business needs to set itself apart from the rest, in other words your competition. If your branding is effective then you can stand out from the crowd. In any business there are several companies offering the same service but why should a customer choose your business over any of the others? Simple, you have a good branding, or at least you should have. Branding comes in several forms. It is not simply the name of your company or the design of your logo but the way you have feedback from (hopefully) satisfied customers and testimonials. The way you advertise is part of your branding too. How are you marketing your business? These important factors tell customers who you are and what you represent. Your task when branding is to get into the customer's mindset what you are all about. You will need to be confident and give the potential customer a feeling that you are proud of your business ethic. This installs confidence in your customer too. It is no good advertising your weaknesses or shortfalls. Remember when Gerald Ratner, owner of several branches of jewellery stores in the United Kingdom, labelled his stock as "just crap?" It was a branding disaster and one that ultimately finished off the chain as a viable business. Branding involves the promotion of your strengths and where you and your business can benefit potential customers. Every business needs to make customers feel at home when they utilise its services or buy from its stores. If you get the branding right, then this can go a long way in creating that successful marketing strategy. When you have a successful branding of your product or service you will find your customers will pay more for your business services or products as opposed to a service that does not provide any kind of branding. Branding helps to install confidence in the customer, otherwise what else makes them buy branded products more confidently than unbranded ones? Branding is one of the most important components of how successful your business can be and if done correctly then, the opportunities are endless. It's a fallacy to think that, the best companies in the marketplace are the wealthiest, it's the ones who use branding correctly using the right channels that, reach out to the largest and targeted audience who enjoy the most success and profits. Its a branding game. Everything you do with your business will effect how your brand will be perceived by your future customers, so finding the right building blocks and gathering a good reputation along the way will greatly enhance your changes and will determine who successful you'll become in your niche. What is Branding and why is it so important to build a good Brand. Many companies have devoted millions (if not billions) of dollars to develop their individualistic brand names to the stature that they are now. What has it taken to build the branding and brand names/vision from the CEO and founding members, untold extensive marketing strategy, years of continued focus and determination, passion, sweat, and hard work, and most importantly, a solid product that performs in the market. The above is just but a glimpse of what it has taken companies, with strong brand names, to reach where they are. Let us break down this 'branding' issues and see what it is, what it takes to make it, how to maintain it and increase its growth in the market. Definition of a Brand and branding The wording might differ as you move from state to state but the basic idea is still the same. A brand is a word, letter, symbol, design, color, phrase, or any other feature that is unique to a certain company\person. This is what identifies the seller's goods or services and distinguishes them from other similar products in the market. The genesis of the word goes through the years back to 1200s and the name has slowly changed to include many things. With each civilization from the 1200s, the brand has acquired new meaning and new dimension. This is primarily what has helped it to become so important in modern business culture. The word has now become synonymous with the word 'identity' when it comes to modern business culture. Branding can stand for, product company or service Companies have been known to pump millions of their revenue into shaping the perception that is created when the brand is shown. E.g., the name Microsoft invokes images of computers, software, technology etc.

How Do Drugs Get Their Names?

04:49
Who names drugs? Why all the funny names? A number of months ago, we did an episode on how a drug comes to market with the help of out HCT intern, pharmD student Rachel Hoffman. She also helped us out with our episode on Flibanserin. We get a lot of questions from you about drugs. What's the difference between a generic and name brand drug? How do people feel about them? What's the difference with biologics? With her help, we're going to tackle those in the upcoming weeks. Let's start at the beginning. What's in a name? That which we call a drug. By any other name would be so . . . effective? Brand name and generic drugs: are there any differences? Who regulates them? And what's with all the names anyway? That's the topic of today's HealthCare Triage.
