Rookie Decks are made by the famous Card Kingdom, with brand new players in mind. Touted as ideal for casual, new and returning players, and priced at only 5.99 each, have Rookie decks finally cracked the code of where and how to start playing Magic the Gathering, or are they just glorified welcome decks, leaving new players with the same problems as every other product. Let’s take a look! But first a quick word about this video and this channel: as you know Card Kingdom is the sponsor of this channel, and this product I am talking about today is made by our sponsor. As always, while card kingdom’s support of the channel is appreciated, this review and my evaluation are just that: my own, Card Kingdom did not even get any advanced screening of this video prior to it going to air. If you do want to check out rookie decks, there’s a special link in the video description that takes you right to them and also tells card kingdom that you came from me, which helps convey to them that support of this channel is worth it. You absolutely don’t have to use this link to check out rookie decks, but it does help show the value of the channel if you do, so I thank. And now, let’s begin with…. What are Rookie Decks? Rookie Decks are simple 60-card decks, made primarily for new players of Magic The Gathering. Containing commons and uncommons, like Battle Decks they are not a part of any specific format, but unlike Battle Decks they are constructed not from draft archetypes, but instead with the very basics of gameplay in mind. These decks give players a chance to experience the game in a clear and entertaining way. Instead of highlighting mechanics from the new set, each deck is crafted around a single keyword with color defining spells and creatures, giving new players a sense of each color’s capabilities. Before I even delve into the cards themselves, these learner inserts are really great. To be learning magic and have this little reminder sheet next to you on a bright, clear, and best fo all easy to parse card is something really helpful to new players. Follow, remember, and learn turn order easily, and be able to review the key color mechanics not only of your deck, but of each color with these little study guides. ALso, all Rookie decks come packed in a clear plastic case, so you get a basic storage box along with the ready to play beginner’s 60 card deck. That is a lot of value for only 5.99. Or is it?

History of the hair dryer: The first handheld hairdryer appeared on the market in 1925. It produced only 100 watts of heat and therefore did not have sufficient power to dry hair quickly. It weighed over 2 lb (1 kg) because it was made of heavy steel and zinc. Over the next 20 years engineers improved the design and managed to triple the heat output, raising it to 300 watts. By the 1960s, further improvements in electrical technology allowed the production of hairdryers with up to 500 watts of power. In the late 1970s, manufacturers began to focus on improving the safety of dryers. Early hairdryers were dangerous because if they accidentally came in contact with water they would short circuit and cause an electrical shock. There are hundreds of recorded cases of accidental electrocutions because a hairdryer was dropped into a bathtub or sink full of water while it was being used. In the late 1970s the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) recommended guidelines for hair dryer manufacturers to follow that would create safer products. The power of hair dryers was limited by the electric motors available. As smaller, more efficient motors were developed, greater airflow and greater heat output could be achieved. By the 1990s portable hairdryers could produce over 1500 watts of heat. Improvements in plastic technology and the discovery of new insulating materials made possible a new generation of lightweight hairdryers. Modern hair dryers can produce up 2000 watts of heat and can dry hair faster than ever before.

Overall, the best value gotten from a booster box currently in Standard is immediately after that box's set has been released. While a few individual rares may rise in price do to later being proven successful in Standard constructed, but the vast majority of cards will fall in value until they eventually rotate out. After that, the only cards that will retain or regain value are ones which are viable in other formats, most notably Modern, Legacy, and to a lesser extent Commander. That card, Nalathni Dragon, was a 1/1 Dragon for two red mana and two mana of any color. Nalathni dragon had flying and for one red: Nalathni Dragon gets +1/+0 until end of turn. If this ability has been activated four or more times this turn, sacrifice Nalathni Dragon at the beginning of the next end step. There was one more odd feature, Nalathni Dragon was the first and to this date still the only red creature to have banding. What does banding do? This issue was not that Nalathni Dragon was a great card. It wasn’t. The alarm and frustration that arose in the Magic community of 1994 was that in order to get this unique card, one would have to had traveled to Dragon Con in Atlanta Georgia. If you had no been in attendance, then you could not get this Magic card. What would happen, people wondered in frustration, had Nalathni Dragon or a future exclusive promo card been a powerful, competitive card? I honestly remember one day on the playground during high school in the mid-nineties hearing my friends and fellow Magic players complain bitterly about Nalatnhi Dragon. Again, it wasn’t that the card was needed to play a strong deck, it was the bad feels of a card being offered in such a way as to prevent such a majority of the playerbase being able to get a hold of it. Those bad feels were felt and responded to by Wizards of the Coast, that took this message to heart and never again repeated this type of exclusive card promotion. Flash forward 22 years to the release of Dominaria. Over those 22 years, cards have been offered at conventions such as Comic Con with special, alternate artwork available nowhere else, or as booster box promos, again with special or alternate artwork, or even exclusively through non-booster pack products such as Commander preconstructed decks, until recently, a powerhouse seller in their own right, but never was a unique card designed and offered nowhere else except via promotion. While there was never an official policy or explicit promise ala the Reserve List that blunders like Nalathni Dragon would never be repeated, there was a lot of implicit evidence that this was something that was off the table.

MTG - Is it worth it to buy a Starter Cube for Magic: The Gathering?

13:33
Interested in buying a Starter Cube for Magic: The Gathering? You can do so via our affiliate link at: http://www.CardKingdom.com/TCC Check out the complete Starter Cube list here: http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/106956 This channel is sponsored by Card Kingdom. As always, while Card Kingdom’s support of the channel is appreciated, my review and my evaluation are just that: my own, Card Kingdom did not even get any advanced screening of this video prior to it going to air. Check out Loading Ready Run as they draft then play the Starter Cube: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/262924930 What Is a Magic: The Gathering Cube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNDBTRG6keM How To Build Your First MTG Cube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoL9dKWcwG8 Intermediate Cube Construction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc0I6wG6O1c Advanced Cube Construction Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVmpBnw-imY Support content like this by becoming a channel patron over at Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/tolariancommunitycollege See also - A Critical Review of The Box Of Holding: https://youtu.be/HwrpOZl0UGs and Magic: The Gathering at Pax: https://youtu.be/Lovw6cp0dnE Top 5 Magic: The Gathering Sets For Pauper, POST-New World Order: https://youtu.be/Ey4rhTQSONs Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TolarianCommunityCollege Twitter: @TolarianCollege Music Courtesy Of: "Vintage Education" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ "Highlight Reel" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ "Gonna Start v2" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Many Magic: The Gathering players ask the question: Is it worth it to buy a starter cube? Cube is quite possibly the apotheosis of Magic: The Gathering, the greatest expression of the game in the ultimate format. Unfortunately, Cube is also extremely expensive, with even non-Power cubes often costing in the high hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Now, Card Kingdom has released a Starter Cube, designed and refined by Magic pro and game designer Chris Van Meter, and priced at only $99. But is this a genuine cube experience of balanced yet powerful Magic gameplay, or just a strictly worse cube that can’t hold a candle to the real experience? Let’s take a look! But first, I quick word about this video. This channel is sponsored by the maker of this product, Card Kingdom, a Seattle based brick and mortar game store with a growing online presence, but my review of their product is just that: my own. Card Kingdom neither instructed me to make this review, nor have they even seen so much as a draft of the script for it. Although I am indeed sponsored by them I want to keep my evaluation open and honest as I would for any other review. And thus along those lines, I am posting the entire deck list for the Card Kingdom Starter Cube in this video’s description. You do not have to buy this product from card Kingdom, there is no mystery as to the cards contained within, and you may assemble the components yourself either from your own collection or other sellers as you see fit. I am reviewing the construction of this as a Starter Cube, in other words, I am analyzing and evaluating the CUBE itself and asking if this gameplay experience is worth $100, but the complete list is yours for free and you may do with it what you wish.

Best Stores to Buy Magic Cards in Tokyo & My Experience Buying Used Cards in Japan

16:34
Thanks to requests from viewers like you, I've made a video with my top three stores for where to buy Magic cards in Tokyo, as well as a strong contender that is great but not quite as fun. Physical addresses as well as internet addresses to the stores are available within the video. I've also included a short story giving an example of my experience of buying Magic cards from large used stores (like a Goodwill, but that was cool and that you could sell things to) in Japan near where I used to live and how I could find treasures in other peoples' junk. As always please comment, like and subscribe to help guide my channel into the future! Your feedback helps keep me motivated to make more videos! What do I mean by draft archetypes? In draft, you construct a 40 card deck using cards you pick during that draft. There are always a collection of commonly drafted archetypes, such as in Shadows over Innistrad there was an often drafted Black / Green delirium deck and a Blue Green clue deck. Or how in Battle for Zendikar there was a landfall deck, and an ally deck, and so forth. Battle Decks take this basic premise, and create a 60 card version of that deck, sometimes even using cards from older sets that will work effectively to serve that deck’s theme or needs. As a result, Battle Decks are kind of like a Limited Constructed deck: a 60 card full version of a 40 card draft deck. With the now discontinued intro packs, the goal was to provide a weak deck that could then be upgraded using booster packs, a goal that was seldom met in a satisfactory fashion. But Battle decks are already strong for what they are, and unlike Intro Packs, they contain 3-4 of their cards, instead of 1-3X, meaning that you get consistent gameplay and feel like you are playing a real game of Magic. As a result, Battle deck are well-designed, heavily themed, and play really well against one another. And quick too! No 5 hour long game of EDH to slog through. Battle Decks play like really, really strong draft decks. They are what Intro Packs always should have been: full, complete, powerful and REAL decks of Magic that can be purchased cheap and effectively and allow you to get instant games of Magic. While these may not have anything in the way of financial value, the deck construction and interplay is excellent, and a far better experience than most of the other preconstructed decks Wizards of the Coast floods your local game store with. While these are NOT of any interest to Standard players, they are the ideal product for new players, returning players, and casual players, for anyone looking for a fast, fun time playing Magic.

How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide To MTG

09:11
The Best Gaming Cases: http://youtu.be/2Aw3j3Mj5Ls A Guide To Playmats: http://youtu.be/0HOjmAB4WaA What Are The Best Binders: http://youtu.be/H5IauASYWjk The Best Card Sleeves: http://youtu.be/w-aAeIZSNWw How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide The following is a 6 step guide to starting Magic: The Gathering from absolute scratch. This is not a video that teaches you how to play the game, but rather guides you in your purchases and decision making so that you can go from having never played Magic: The Gathering before, to being able to attend store events and regularly play games. Please note: As always, this video is only meant as guidance, not absolute rules. it is one path, one method of many, but it only a suggestion. It is designed with the goal of being able to play regularly at store events, but that may not be your own personal goal when it comes to Magic. Still, even if you are looking to achieve different things from this game, perhaps by seeing one path people can take, you might discover new ideas that help you meet your needs. The importance of friend or partner: If you'll allow me one more preamble, I'd like to stress the importance of having a friend or partner to play with. The most important thing you can do as a new player is...to play. Practice, practice, practice, and in order to do this, it helps to have a practice partner. Going into this game with a friend or lover is a huge advantage, as you'll always have someone to play with and learn with. I'm a major advocate of couples getting into Magic together, as it gives you both a fun and engaging activity that you can share with one another. If you don't know anyone who is interested in learning with you, or who already plays, don't despair. Magic is a highly social game. Hanging out at your local game store isn't just how you get in games, it is also how you meet people and make friends. So where do you begin from absolute scratch? Step 1: Buy Duels of the PlanesWalkers 2014 Step 2: Get 2 Quick Start Decks. Step 3: Join your store's league Step 4: Play a Draft Step 5: If a prerelease or launch is upcoming, attend. Step 6: Put your first standard deck together. You can support The Professor just by checking out their store through this link: http://www.cardkingdom.com/TCC Many Magic: The Gathering players ask the question: Is it worth it buy a Commander 2018 preconstructed deck? Once the star jewel of Wizards of the Coast, this years’ line has had a significant shakeup in both price and contents, begging the question more so than ever if if the now 40.00 price tag for this once perfect product is still worth, and if so, by how much? Is this price part of a plan for providing players with powerful commander cards, new and old, or just callously cashing in on a popular product? Do not pay above MSRP for any 2018 Commander decks, period. If you can get any preconstructed decks from previous years for the same or near cost, do so instead. If all you want is Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow to build a kick ass ninja deck, then buy the singles you need. Elves vs Inventors is the final Duel Deck. Ever. The series has been discontinued and this is the final installment. As such, it casts a pall of added scrutiny on Elves vs Inventors. Did Wizards truly go all out on this farewell duel deck or were they already out of gas to begin with? Is this perfect for the duel deck collector, a fitting final chapter to the duel deck saga, or perhaps it’s just evidence of why the product line has been discontinued. I’ll examine in detail the gameplay balance and enjoyment, cards for collectors, interest for new and established players, and ultimately whether or not this product is worth it from those perspectives. Let’s take a look!

This opponent is given the advantage of Scheme cards to grant them powered up benefits throughout the game, and thus the team must work together to defeat the archenemy! But has Arch Enemy: Nicol Bolas finally cracked the problem of overpowered arch enemies whose schemes are near impossible to overcome, or is another in the line of “good in theory” but disappointing in practice alternative formats for a game not made to handle such extreme variations? Let’s take a look! Please note: This video is a review of the product: Arch Enemy: Nicol Bolas and assumes that you as viewer is familiar with the format. If you would like to learn how to play Archenemy, please see my instructional video here, which is linked in the description. Archenemy: Nicol Bolas is essentially a Magic: The Gathering board game. It is self-contained, able to be played right out of the box with 3-4 friends, and is not just a reskin of a different game, but rather is real Magic the Gathering gameplay with real Magic: The Gathering decks. While there may be some balance issues in regards to the Archenemy vs. The Gatewatch decks, they are minor, and the biggest problem with gameplay is the likely lack of replayability, with games getting stale fast and no easy way to play this with other decks. Despite there being reasonable financial value of individual cards, the cards themselves have little to no relevance for players and collectors. There are no chase rares or mythics or other needed reprints here, no original cards other than the schemes, and only the planeswalker cards themselves have new art...and they are not even foil. Nonetheless this is a very good product and possibly a great deal of interest to casual players, players who love flavor, or just players who like to break up more intense gameplay for a fun magic evening with friends.

Previously known as Fat Packs, bundles have both expanded and refined themselves in regards to what they offer and how well they offer it. One of the higher priced products for players to procure, let’s look at what precisely these are packed with and whether it is worth buying. Because at an MSRP of 42.99 this is either a chest stuffed with treasure or, quite possibly fool’s gold. Let’s explore! Please note: This video will be examining the current contents of the Ixalan bundle, but since bundles remain more or less identical from set to set, this video can be treated as current or up to date until such time as bundle contents have changed enough to warrant an update, or the product gets renamed again. Everyone watching this who buys packs over the counter, whether a bunch at once or maybe, you pick up a pack or two every so often from your LGS, and then over the course of a set you’ve bought 10. Here’s the first question. If you saw the Bundle Box, well boxes, the Set Guide, the bent, permanently creased crappy poster, the land pack, and a spindown all sitting on the counter at your LGS and priced at 2.99, would you pick it up. Because that’s what you are doing here. Want this for 2.99 and you were going to buy 10 packs over the counter at 4 bucks each, that’s a bundle. Is this stuff worth getting? The box itself is significantly better than previous fat pack styles. Notice the vertical lip, exposing part of the box for easy access. This allows you to always be able to easy grip and open your bundle box. Inside I just love that there’s this extra cardboard compartment. Holds slightly over 100 double sleeved cards. Great for keeping your active deck or favorited cards separate from the rest of what you are storing in the bundle box.
