INCHCAPE BEATLEMANIA 2016

03:36

Land Rover iCandy Peach All-Terrain Stroller Pushchair

01:21
Wait, that doesn’t sound good, because the former is a potent SUV with a go-anywhere ability, while the latter is apparently aimed at "adventurous parents", in the company's own words. Said to have been created by "true craftsmen", the new iCandy for Land Rover Peach All-Terrain stroller is inspired by the latest Land Rover Discovery, and it incorporates some of its design cues, such as the grille pattern in the hood fabric, and seat stitching that reflects those found in the SUV. "We are excited to be collaborating with such a great British brand. A perfect combination of design and functionality, the striking iCandy for Land Rover Special Edition pushchair will offer a unique opportunity to experience the essence of the Land Rover brand at first hand; both in terms of functionality and style", commented the JLR Merchandising and Licensing Director, Lindsey Weaver. The iCandy Peach All-Terrain marks a first in the industry, as it has become the first stroller to be launched at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, where the British brand has the Discovery SVX on display until September 24, with its 525PS (518hp) and 625Nm (461lb-ft) of torque 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine. Following its public premiere, the stroller will take center stage at the Kind Und Jugend trade fair, in Cologne, before going on sale, with pricing expected to be around £1,500 ($1,990) in the United Kingdom. http://www.carscoops.com/2017/09/cant-afford-new-discovery-buy-land.html

José Mourinho made a surprise visit to Jaguar Land Rover’s factory in Solihull.

02:17
The F-PACE is the fastest selling Jaguar vehicle ever and is currently the fastest Jaguar vehicle to reach the 100K sales mark. In 2016, Mourinho test drove the Jaguar F-PACE as part of an extreme high-performance driver training experience in the Arctic Circle. José Mourinho mastered the art of high speed drifting and full throttle ice driving on a 60km frozen lake at Jaguar’s extreme testing facility in Arjeplog, Sweden. The Jaguar F-PACE offers an unrivalled blend of performance, design and practicality. To ensure that every system functions perfectly even under the most extreme conditions, the new F-PACE has been subjected to one of the most demanding test programmes the company has ever devised. As one of Britain’s most recognisable male models – due in part to his ten year relationship with Italian fashion house Dolce and Gabbana – David was photographed alongside Jaguar’s newest SUV the E-PACE and the iconic E-Type on the Californian lake bed of El Mirage. The shoot was for the cover and editorial piece in a US luxury men’s lifestyle magazine. David is also in LA having recently commissioned Jaguar Classic to locate for him a vintage XK120 sports car. Once identified, the team of experts at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works in the UK will take the XK120 through the Reborn restoration programme it successfully introduced earlier this year with the original Range Rover, Land Rover Series I and Jaguar E-type. Jaguar Land Rover Classic aims to provide of the very best cars, service and maintenance, original parts and unforgettable experiences for owners of classic Jaguars and Land Rovers. David has been a Jaguar owner for the last ten years and is a true fan of the brand. Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works

03:18
Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works is an all-new, facility in the British Midlands dedicated to offering a range of products and services designed to fuel the passion of owners and enthusiasts for classic Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr. Ralf Speth and Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations Managing Director John Edwards attended the opening ceremony today of Classic Works, the world’s largest classic car sales, manufacturing and restoration facility of its kind. The opening of Classic Works in Coventry is an important milestone in the rapid development of the Jaguar Land Rover Classic brand, which was launched in March 2016. This is the first purpose-built site for Jaguar Land Rover Classic, which brings all sales, servicing and restoration operations under one roof. The brand’s global expansion continues later this summer with the launch of a new facility at Essen in Germany. At 14,000m2 Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works is the largest facility of its type in the world, with a dedicated showroom space and 54 workshop bays for servicing and restoring all Jaguar and Land Rover models out of production for a decade or more. The workshop is organised into dedicated strip-down, remanufacturing and assembly zones for the Land Rover Series I, Range Rover Classic and Jaguar E-type Reborn restoration programmes, including an engine shop, and houses the XKSS build line. Classic Works is also home to the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Collection of more than 500 vehicles, a living assembly of British motoring history, which is an invaluable reference for restorations. Vehicles in the collection are also available for loan to car clubs and museums, and for Jaguar Land Rover and its partners to showcase their heritage at events. To support the growth of the Classic business, Jaguar Land Rover has invested heavily in traditional manufacturing skills, with numbers of skilled staff employed up by 100% since it was formed. More than 80 specialists are now employed at Classic Works, many with decades of experience working solely on the models catered for at the new facility. By the end of 2017, this number is expected to grow to more than 120 specialists. The close ties to the core Jaguar Land Rover business mean the Classic operation can also take advantage of cutting-edge manufacturing technology, such as 3D scanning and Computer Aided Design, which allows the re-tooling and reintroduction of parts such as Jaguar E-type and Range Rover Classic panels – parts that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive to remanufacture. Jaguar Land Rover Classic is the official source of authentic cars, expert services, genuine parts and unforgettable experiences for classic Jaguar and Land Rover enthusiasts worldwide – all of which are now available from Classic Works. JLR i54 Workers (Aerial Filming)

00:36
When the opportunity to conduct some aerial filming for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) was presented to us, we decided that saying “yes please” was probably the right thing to do! ------------------------------------ We teamed up with production company 2AM Ltd for two projects they were running for JLR. They invited us to collaborate with them on both projects, using our drone to conduct some aerial filming in the process. For our second assignment, we travelled to the JLR plant at the i54 business park, situated just off the M54 motorway by Wolverhampton. Once again our drone was in action, this time for a video celebrating JLR’s status as Britain’s largest automotive manufacturer. For this video, we were tasked with co-ordinating a visual shot which saw 200 workers from the plant forming together to make a heart when filmed from above. This scene proved particularly difficult to film (especially with the wind causing havoc!) but we were absolutely thrilled with our results and the video as a whole, which you can see above. ------------------------------------ Stone's Throw Media are an animation production and video production company based in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. Jaguar Land Rover World's Largest Classic Car Center Coventry 1/2

02:17
Jaguar Land Rover is getting serious about its classic cars and SUVs. It launched its Classic division barely more than a year ago, has embarked upon recreating some of its most memorable models, and has now opened a new Classic Works facility at Jaguar's historic home in Coventry, England. Said to be “the world’s largest classic car sales, manufacturing and restoration facility of its kind,” the 150,000-square-foot facility includes a showroom and 54 workshop bays in a setup not unlike a major dealership. But instead of selling and servicing new cars, Classic Works focuses on vintage ones. The restoration of Land Rover Series I, Range Rover Classic, Jaguar E-Type, and Jaguar XKSS models will all take place there, under the same roof as the company's collection of over 500 classic vehicles. The continuation Lightweight E-Types and XKSS will also be maintained there, customers will be able to purchase restored classic Jags and Landies directly from the original manufacturer, and have their own vintage wheels restored by the experts on site. There's even a dedicated service center for XJ220s. "Classic Works is hugely important to Jaguar Land Rover. It’s much more than a building – it’s the heart, and soul, of Jaguar Land Rover Classic for our clients worldwide," said Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations Managing Director John Edwards. "Being able to support owners and enthusiasts of our two great brands with a full suite of services for classic vehicles is a fantastic opportunity." Every vehicle that passes through its gates will be subject to a rigorous 121-point inspection and be signed off on by chief test driver Andy Wallace, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Jaguar in 1988. All told, 80 employees will be based there – a headcount slated to grow to over 120 by the end of this year. Enthusiasts will be able to borrow classic cars from the facility to experience at nearby locations, and tour both the factory and the Classic Works premises, making the new site another must-see for car fans living in or visiting the British Midlands. http://www.carscoops.com/2017/06/jaguar-land-rover-opens-worlds-largest.html

Experiencing the Product, Brian Waterfield, Jaguar Land Rover

14:54
Virtual reality and augmented reality are becoming more and more mainstream; especially in the gaming and entertainment markets. The thirst of their customer’s pushing the development of the “experience” to the maximum. Vehicle design and engineering is changing. Our designers want to get deeper into their creations, and our engineers want to understand how our customers think; all this long before we reach the physical world. Virtual reality and augmented reality are being developed at JLR to deliver the experience of our customers throughout the product development process I have worked at Jaguar Land Rover for the last 14 years, and have evolved virtual reality and high-end visualisation over the pass 8. Technologies has always fascinated me and lead me back to university to achieve a master degree with distinction in Virtual reality, high-end visualisation gaming technology; which enabled me to apply this knowledge to the development of our vehicles. I set up the VRcentre in 2008 which at the time lead the automotive world in resolution and functionally, it comprised of three walls and a ceiling offering 4x HD and multifunctional graphics. I have developed technics to enable visual perception of our brands DNA, along with ergonomic process that have aided the development of challenging design like the Evoque & F-type Over the past six year I have matured the virtual support and last year finish an extension to the VRcentre, renaming it the “virtual innovation centre” introducing state of the art technology and resources to further enhance virtual innovation. I am a strong believer in this technology changing the engineering and design landscape, so I continue to work with universities to achieve my goal to create the perceptual equivalent of the real world

The New 2020 Range Rover Evoque drive and a host of innovative technologies.

09:56
The New 2020 Range Rover Evoque drive and a host of innovative technologies. This is the new Range Rover Evoque, the premium, compact and popular SUV by Jaguar Land Rover. On sale from spring of next year, the car evolves the original model to be more polished and in keeping with its siblings within the Range Rover family. The new Evoque is a progressive car too, offering a mild-hybrid drive and a host of innovative technologies. This is a momentous occasion, for the Evoque is a critical car for JLR. The story began in 2007 with the creation of the LRX. Penned by the creative director Gerry McGovern, the concept car was bold, brave and carved a new vehicle sector - the small urban SUV. The Range Rover Evoque production car that followed stayed true to the LRX. It was a risky choice. Company management at the time apparently predicted modest sales with what they saw as a niche model. The Evoque, though, tapped into a new market and spoke to a whole new demographic group. Urbanites loved it, as did women and younger drivers and the car sold far more than expected (over 700,000), elevating the brand to new levels. “It transformed the world of compact SUVs” smiles McGovern confidently. “The new model is set to continue that remarkable journey. This characterful vehicle combines refinement and fun to create that all-important emotional reaction which will turn heads and make people smile.” We are at the National Automotive Innovation Center, a new campus at Warwick University in the UK. Funded by JLR, it houses the advanced design and engineering departments as well as connect education and industry. This is an impressive space to reflect the company’s progressive attitude and long-term ambitions. I am here to see the new Evoque ahead of today’s global reveal. The car before me retains the volume of the outgoing model but offers a more generous interior space thanks to the new architecture it is built on. The high waistline, sloping roof and raised rear, design features which gave the original Evoque its edgy and unique stance, have been retained but modified and more refined. The new car has pronounced shoulders, powerful wheel-arches and it sits confidently on 21-inch wheels. The exterior surfacing is calm with hardly any visual distractions. There are Velar-style flush doors and slim Matrix LED lights with the odd surprising element, such as copper blade accents, adding a touch of intrigue. I asked McGovern if he was nervous approaching the second-generation Evoque. After all, the company is a very different place now. Since 2007, JLR has progressed beyond recognition. The collection of cars from both Jaguar and Land Rover confidently compete with some of the finest of luxury motor cars. McGovern himself is a respected figure in the creative industry and one of the most commercially successful car designers of our time. “No I never get nervous; I’m too arrogant,” he offers half joking. “It is unmistakably an Evoque – this was something we knew we had to do. It was also about moving the game on. Is it an evolution? The Evoque was a game-changer so it was about making it more refined.” McGovern admits that the new car purposely has a quiet presence. “We dialed down some of the reductionist themes which have its best manifestation with the Velar. It is about tapping into the passion of opulence. It is an accumulation of details.” Read More:https://bit.ly/2SekW61

2019 Audi e-Tron – Electric SUV / Tesla Model X and Jaguar i-Pace Competitor

03:56
2019 Audi e-Tron – Electric SUV / Tesla Model X and Jaguar i-Pace Competitor Audi just announced its first production electric vehicle. Called the e-tron, the EV is a mid-size SUV loaded with technology with an unofficial range of over 300 miles. It’s nicely equipped, and with a starting price of $74,800, it sits between the Jaguar I-Pace and the Tesla Model X. The e-tron is most similar to the Jaguar I-Pace though the Audi is slightly better equipped. The e-tron packs a 95 kWh battery over the Jaguar’s 90 kWh battery. It’s also slightly larger and rated to tow 4,000 lbs. Electrifyingly fun to drive: the Audi e-tron - World premiere of the first all-electric series production model from the brand - Ample space and a long range provide a high level of everyday usability - Virtual exterior mirrors as high-end option – premiere in a series production automobile The Audi e-tron is the first fully electrically powered series production model from the brand with the four rings. The company will present its sporty full-size SUV – which is suitable for everyday use – to the world for the first time in San Francisco. Standing still or on the move, the Audi e-tron is electrifying. Its expressive sill area, the electric tailboard and the light gray Singleframe are indicators of the high-voltage technology that makes for a special driving experience. The electric SUV is powered by two powerful electric motors that are locally CO2-neutral and virtually silent. A new generation of the quattro drive, the electric all-wheel drive, ensures excellent traction and dynamics. It ensures the continuous and variable regulation of the ideal distribution of drive torques between the two axles – within a fraction of a second. A key factor for the sporty character and outstanding transverse dynamics is the low and central position at which the battery system is installed. It gives the vehicle a range that is suitable for driving long distances. During far more than 90 percent of all decelerations, the Audi e-tron recovers energy solely via its electric motors. The electric SUV taps its maximum recuperation potential in combination with the integrated electrohydraulic brake control system. Audi is the world’s first carmaker to use such a system in an electrically powered series production vehicle. The cleverly designed aerodynamics also contribute significantly to its efficiency. One highlight of this concept are the optional virtual exterior mirrors – a worldwide first in a series production model. Not only do they reduce aerodynamic drag, they also take digitalization in the vehicle to a whole new level. The Audi e-tron offers the spaciousness and comfort of one of the brand’s typical full-size models. Paired with high-quality materials and fine workmanship, it makes electric mobility a premium experience. This is also ensured by the comprehensive and reliable range of charging options with intelligent solutions for at home and on the go. From navigation with the e-tron route planner, which displays the appropriate route with the required charging points, automated billing at the charging station and all the way to remote control via smartphone – the Audi e-tron is extremely well connected. It is equipped with the high-end media center MMI navigation plus including LTE Advanced and a Wi-Fi hotspot as standard. Numerous assist systems further relieve the driver. For example, the standard efficiency assist promotes an economic driving style by displaying predictive information and performing automatic recuperation. If the customer selects the adaptive cruise assist, the system can also brake and accelerate the electric SUV predictively. The Audi e-tron rolls off the assembly line at the CO2-neutral plant in Brussels. Initial deliveries to European customers are planned for late 2018. The starting price of the electric SUV in Germany is 79,900 euros.

2018 JLR Classic to restore recently discovered 1948 Land Rover launch car

2018 JLR Classic to restore recently discovered 1948 Land Rover launch car,The car went missing for a large portion of its history, sitting forgotten in a field in Wales for two decades, before a subsequent owner bought it to restore, only for it to end up in much the same situation again, just a few miles from where it was first built in Solihull. The car’s previous owners are being invited to the Classic Works facility in Solihull to watch its restoration.Land Rover Classic, JLR’s division in charge of restoring heritage cars from the sister brands’ histories, will be completing the restoration to a driveable standard, and has been responsible for numerous high-profile restorations across the division’s short history. The restoration is being carried out in time for Land Rover’s seventieth birthday, celebrations of which culminate in the reveal of the next Defender towards the end of the year, in time for a 2019 sales launch. It’ll be two years since the previous defender, which had a production run of 67 years, last rolled off the production line. The JLR Classic team has previously carried out restorations on Series I Land Rovers, with a run of 25 fetching between £60,000 and £80,000 when restored as one of the division’s first projects. It’s likely that the restoration will pump the value of the car up far beyond this, but as a near-priceless example, with one-of-three status as a 1948 Amsterdam Motor Show car, it won't be sold. JLR Classic director, Tim Hannig, said: “This Land Rover is an irreplaceable piece of world automotive history and is as historically important as ‘Huey’, the first pre- production Land Rover. Beginning its sympathetic restoration here at Classic Works, where we can ensure it’s put back together precisely as it’s meant to be, is a fitting way to start Land Rover’s 70th anniversary year.”

Here's What Jaguar Land Rover Is Doing to Stay Relevant

02:21
Back in April, the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover launched a standalone technology business called InMotion, through which it said it would develop new mobility services for things like car-sharing. InMotion has a lab that comes up with ideas and tests them, before bringing entrepreneurs on board to develop the most viable ones into new businesses. On Wednesday, it revealed the experiments it’s currently working on. And in line with InMotion’s statements at launch, many of these ideas involve ride-sharing or car-sharing. InMotion said this experiment is taking place in a U.S. city with a big suburban population and poor transport links. A British car-sharing experiment involves a platform through which people can lend or borrow cars among friends, family and neighbors—something that obviously involves organizing insurance as well as people. In a separate experiment in the Netherlands, people can get subscription access to cars, making it easier to switch to a car that suits lifestyles and seasons. Jaguar Land Rover’s own staff, at one of its West Midlands manufacturing facilities, are also testing out a new carpooling app. The company’s U.K. staff are also testing out a “smart delivery” system whereby people can deliver packages to car trunks. And in a “smart parking” experiment, drivers drop off their cars with valets who park them somewhere secure. It’s worth noting that few of these ideas are original. Volvo and Daimler are both also experimenting with deliveries to trunks, and Daimler, BMW, GM and Volkswagen are all investing in the ride-sharing space. Indeed, it is now a widespread trend that, facing the likelihood of falling car ownership over the coming years, car manufacturers around the world are racing to find new ways to stay relevant and profitable. The other big trend is, of course, that of developing autonomous vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover said in July that it would create a fleet of more than 100 self-driving cars to be tested on British roads over the next several years. Source: fortune.com

Offering a glimpse into the future, it is a Jaguar for a world of autonomous, connected, electric and shared mobility (ACES). At the heart of the Jaguar concept is the world’s first intelligent and connected steering wheel. This Jaguar steering wheel lives in your home and becomes your trusted companion. Jaguar Sayer – named after the designer of the Jaguar E-type - is the first voice-activated Artificial Intelligence (AI) steering wheel that will be able to carry out hundreds of tasks. It can summon your Jaguar, play music, book you a table and even knows what’s in your fridge. Jaguar Sayer signals your membership of our on-demand service club. A club which offers either sole ownership or the option of sharing the car with others in your community, meaning that you need only fully own the steering wheel, not the car itself. Need to be at a meeting two hours away from home by 8am tomorrow? Simply ask Jaguar Sayer from the comfort of your living room and it will work out when you get up, when a car needs to autonomously arrive at your door and even advise which parts of the journey you might enjoy driving yourself. Sayer is the heart of an advanced HMI system that will keep you connected to your world throughout your journey – or not, if you want to be alone and concentrate on the thrill of driving. Occupants can summon information from different orbits of their world and bring them to life through the system. Pull up your home, family, friends or work orbits to check what’s happening and stay connected with all parts of your life. Select different orbits one by one, all at the same time or nothing at all, allowing you to dial up the information you do want to see and dial down what you don’t. “Jaguar FUTURE-TYPE offers an insight into the potential for driving and car ownership in the future. It’s part of our vision for how a luxury car brand could continue to be desirable, in a more digital and autonomous age,” said Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar. “Our FUTURE-TYPE Concept is an advanced research project looking at how we can ensure an on-demand Jaguar will appeal to customers in 2040 and beyond. Whether it’s commuting to work, autonomously collecting children from school or enjoying driving yourself on the weekend in the countryside, if there’s a choice of on-demand cars driving around city streets, we need to ensure customers desire our 24/7 service over our competitors.” In the connected world of tomorrow, a fleet of fully-charged Jaguar FUTURE-TYPEs could be available for customers on-demand. If you are taking your child to school, and only need two seats, you can summon a FUTURE-TYPE with 2+1 social seating, so you can chat face-to-face as the car autonomously drives you to your destination using the most time and energy efficient route. The FUTURE-TYPE will communicate with other cars and use co-operative driving technologies. This collaboration will enable shorter distances between vehicles and make lane changing and exiting from junctions safer and more efficient. This will also increase road capacity and prevent accidents, while the narrow width of FUTURE-TYPE will mean it takes up less space on the road and in car parks. The driver could ask the FUTURE-TYPE to drive autonomously during the stressful and tedious parts of the journey, such as in heavy traffic or roadworks.

JAGUAR IPACE - 2019 Jaguar I Pace Fully Charged Review #jaguaripace

06:51
JAGUAR IPACE - 2019 Jaguar I Pace Fully Charged Review #jaguaripace https://youtu.be/C5DDExgXD80 REVIEW : It used to be that we went years between launches of new Jaguar products, but these days they’re practically tripping over each other. The F-Pace still feels like a new addition to the clan, and the smaller E-Pace is just now reaching dealerships in the United States. And now the company is already showing off another crossover. This one is different, though: the I-Pace is Jaguar Land Rover’s first pure-electric vehicle, and it will be on sale here in the fall of this year. The EV Vitals The raw statistics certainly seem vital enough. The I-Pace has twin electric motors that allow all-wheel drive and provide a total system output of 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft of torque. That’s not quite Tesla-rivaling but is enough for a claimed 4.5-second zero-to-60-mph time and an estimated 240 miles of range. (The I-Pace is rated for 300 miles of range on the European NEDC test, which tends to be highly optimistic. We’ve reached out to JLR for clarification.) The 90.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack can be charged to 80 percent capacity in 40 minutes using a 100-kW DC fast charger. We have already ridden in a prototype version of the car, an experience that left us broadly impressed, and we’re glad to see that so much of the design of the original concept—which bowed at the 2016 L.A. show—has made it through to production. The I-Pace uses an aluminum structure related to those of JLR’s other aluminum-bodied models but with the casing for the underfloor-mounted battery pack used as a structural component. Jaguar claims that the I-Pace is its torsionally stiffest production model yet. We haven’t been given a weight figure, but Jaguar says the battery pack’s location enables static mass to be apportioned exactly 50:50 between the front and rear axles and that it helps achieve a center of gravity 5.1 inches lower than that of the F-Pace. Although it is lower, the I-Pace’s 117.7-inch wheelbase and 184.3-inch overall length are similar to those of the F-Pace, while the cabin is said to be as spacious as those in vehicles a size up. With no need to accommodate one of those old-fashioned gasoline engines, the base of the windshield has been pushed forward to maximize cabin space, although, like many EVs, the I-Pace sticks to the familiar form language of internal-combustion cars. Behind the grille there’s a radiator for the liquid-coolant system that, with flow controlled by a pump, regulates the temperature of the battery pack. The grille also directs airflow through the hood scoop to reduce drag, and active vanes in the grille and front bumper can close to further improve aerodynamics when cooling for the battery and climate-control system isn’t needed. Slipperiness also is helped by other details, including power-deployed door handles that stow seamlessly when the car is on the move, similar to those fitted to the Range Rover Velar. JAGUAR FUTURE-TYPE WITH SAYER STEERING WHEEL ON-DEMAND CONCEPT CAR WILL BLOW YOUR MIND:- TOP 5 FACTS

08:03
More and more people are predicted to move to large cities in the future. Limited parking spots coupled with congestion will make owning, and driving your own car a hassle. The automakers, realize this, and seem to have reached a consensus on the solution. Self-driving city cars, that run around town offering rides. Jaguar is the latest automaker, to reveal its take on the idea, following the likes of Chrysler, Honda, Smart, and Volkswagen, just to name a few. Jaguar’s concept is called the Future-Type, and the good news for fans of the brand is that the concept still has a steering wheel. Yes, Jaguar doesn’t see actual driving becoming a thing of the past Keeping that in view in this video, Engineering Today looks 5 top facts why Jaguar’s Future-Type car MATTERS TO YOU, where you would be able to drive it and it would be able to drive you. So, let’s get started. WHY IT MATTERS TO YOU Jaguar firmly believes the future of the automotive industry is electric, autonomous, connected, and shared. The British company is illustrating its vision of the future of mobility with a science fiction-esque concept car named Jaguar Future-Type. It’s a preview of what a compact luxury car could look like in about 2040. There is no hood, the radiator grille is gone, the windows are heavily tinted, the headlights are ultra-thin units integrated into the fenders, and the silhouette looks like it was penned by NASA for a mission to Mars. Jaguar design boss Ian Callum previously predicted electrification would revolutionize car design, and the Future-Type shows how it could happen. THE ELECTRIC CONCEPT CAR Jaguar says the Future car will include 50kW DC charging capabilities, allowing the liquid-cooled battery pack to be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 90 minutes, and to full in around two hours. Jaguar, designed and developed the battery in-house. The company says it will learn a lot about cooling and charging batteries from its Formula E efforts, and it will put that knowledge into the Future car. ON-DEMAND SERVICES AND CAR SHARING In the connected world of tomorrow, a fleet of Future-Type-like cars could be available for customer’s on-demand via a subscription or club membership-like service. The cars would feature flexible seating options, so for example, if you were a small group, you could summon a Future-Type with “social seating,” where the seats face each other. and it will work out when you get up, when a car needs to autonomously arrive at your door and even advise which parts of the journey you might enjoy driving yourself. WHAT IS “SAYER” STEERING WHEEL At the heart of the concept is the world's first intelligent and connected steering wheel. This steering wheel lives in your home and becomes your trusted companion. Sayer - named after the designer of the E-type - is the first voice-activated Artificial Intelligence (AI) steering wheel that will be able to carry out hundreds of tasks. It can summon your car, play music, book you a table and even knows what's in your fridge. Sayer is the heart of an advanced HMI system that will keep you connected to your world throughout your journey - or not, if you want to be alone and concentrate on the thrill of driving. TRAVEL IN STYLE AND COMFORT In the connected world of tomorrow, a fleet of fully-charged Future-Types could be available for customers on-demand. If you are taking your child to school, and only need two seats, you can summon a Future-Type with 2+1 social seating, so you can chat face-to-face as the car autonomously drives you to your destination using the most time and energy efficient route. The Jaguar Future-Type will communicate with other cars and use co-operative driving technologies. This collaboration will enable shorter distances between vehicles and make lane changing and exiting from junctions safer and more efficient. The driver could ask the Future-Type to drive autonomously during the stressful and tedious parts of the journey, such as in heavy traffic or roadworks, or if they prefer to do some work or choose to watch a film. But for the occasions when a driver wants to enjoy the thrill of the open road, the concept retains a steering wheel. This dual approach will allow drivers to choose either autonomous or assisted driving, with the assisted driver benefiting from the same advanced technologies that allow the Jaguar Future-Type to drive itself. Conclusion "Today, Jaguar offers customers a dynamic, emotional experience. Whether it's the exhilarating way they drive, the way they sound, the iconic design or the connection drivers feel with the road, Jaguar makes them feel special. People will still want to travel in style and comfort, while the growth of car sharing actually increases the opportunity for people to experience what a Jaguar has to offer, even if they chose not to own one."
