One of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. Archaeologists believe that the iconic stone monument was erected around 2500 BC, however this was not the first stone structure on the site The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. The site and its surroundings were added to the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986 in a co-listing with Avebury henge monument, and it is also a legally protected Scheduled Ancient Monument. Stonehenge itself is owned by the Crown and managed by English Heritage while the surrounding land is owned by the National Trust. New archaeological evidence found by the Stonehenge Riverside Project indicates that Stonehenge served as a burial ground from its earliest beginnings The dating of cremated remains found that burials took place as early as 3000 B.C, when the first ditches were being built around the monument. Burials continued at Stonehenge for at least another 500 years when the giant stones which mark the landmark were put up. According to Professor Mike Parker Pearson, head of Stonehenge Riverside Project Stonehenge was a place of burial from its beginning to its zenith in the mid third millennium B.C. The cremation burial dating to Stonehenge's sarsen stones phase is likely just one of many from this later period of the monument's use and demonstrates that it was still very much a domain of the dead. The castle's floor area is approximately 484,000 square feet (about 45,000 square metres).[1] Together with Buckingham Palace in London and Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, it is one of the principal official residences of the British monarch. Queen Elizabeth II spends many weekends of the year at the castle, using it for both state and private entertaining. Her other two residences, Sandringham House and Balmoral Castle, are the Royal Family's private homes. Most of the Kings and Queens of England, later Kings and Queens of Great Britain, and later still kings and queens of the Commonwealth realms, have had a direct influence on the construction and evolution of the castle, which has been their garrison fortress, home, official palace, and sometimes their prison. The castle's history and that of the British monarchy are inextricably linked. Chronologically the history of the castle can be traced through the reigns of the monarchs who have occupied it. When the country has been at peace, the castle has been expanded by the additions of large and grand apartments; when the country has been at war, the castle has been more heavily fortified. This pattern has continued to the present day. http://www.RoyalCollection.org.uk video by robert nichol http://allcast.co.uk

Johann Strauss II - The Blue Danube Waltz

10:59
Disscuss/Review The Blue Danube Waltz at https://classicalmusiconly.com/work/johann-strauss-ii/the-blue-danube-op-314-e6o3 Title : Johann Strauss II , The Blue Danube Waltz Date : 1867 From Wikipedia,The Blue Danube is the common English title of An der schönen blauen Donau op. 314 (On the Beautiful Blue Danube), a waltz by Johann Strauss II, composed in 1867. Originally performed 9 February 1867 at a concert of the Wiener Männergesangsverein (Vienna Men's Choral Association), it has been one of the most consistently popular pieces of music in the classical repertoire. Its initial performance was only a mild success, however, and Strauss is reputed to have said "The devil take the waltz, my only regret is for the coda -- I wish that had been a success!" The waltz originally had an accompanying song text written by Josef Weyl. Strauss adapted it into a purely orchestral version for the World's Fair in Paris that same year, and it became a great success in this form. The instrumental version is by far the most commonly performed today. An alternate text by Franz von Gernerth, Donau so blau (Danube so blue), is also used on occasion. The sentimental Viennese connotations of the piece have made it into a sort of unofficial Austrian national anthem. It is a traditional encore piece at the annual Vienna New Year's Concert. The first few bars are also the interval signal of Osterreich Rundfunk's overseas programs. It is reported by composer Norman Lloyd in his "Golden Encyclopedia of Music" that when asked by Frau Strauss for an autograph, the composer Johannes Brahms autographed Mrs. Strauss's fan by writing on it the first few bars of the Blue Danube. Under it he wrote "Unfortunately not by Johannes Brahms".The work commences with an extended introduction in the key of A major with shimmering (tremolo) violins and a French horn spelling out the familiar waltz theme, answered by staccato wind chords, in a subdued mood. It rises briefly into a loud passage but quickly dies down into the same restful nature of the opening bars. A contrasting and quick phrase in D major anticipates the waltz before 3 quiet downward-moving bass notes "usher in" the first principal waltz melody. The first waltz theme is familiar gently rising triad motif in cellos and horns in the tonic D major, accompanied by harps; the Viennese waltz beat is accentuated at the end of each 3-note phrase. The Waltz 1A triumphantly ends its rounds of the motif, and waltz 1B follows in the same key; the genial mood is still apparent. Waltz 2A glides in quietly (still in D major) before a short contrasting middle section in B flat major. The entire section is repeated. A more dour waltz 3A is introduced in G major before a fleeting eighth-note melodic phrase (waltz 3B). An loud Intrada (introduction) is then played. Waltz 4A starts off in a romantic mood (F major) before a more joyous waltz 4B in the same key. After another short Intrada in A, cadencing in F-sharp minor, sonorous clarinets spell out the poignant melody of waltz 5A in A. Waltz 5B is the climax, punctuated by cymbal crashes. Each of these may be repeated at the discretion of the performer. The coda recalls earlier sections (3A and 2A) before furious chords usher in a recap of the romantic Waltz 4A. The idyll is cut short as the waltz hurries back to the famous waltz theme 1A again. This statement is cut short, however, by the final codetta: a variation of 1A is presented, connecting to a rushing eighth-note passage in the final few bars: repeated tonic chords underlined by a snare drumroll and a bright-sounding flourish.

Transfiguration - performance Olivier de Sagazan

09:23
The performance "Transfiguration" is the story of the sculptor 's unfulfilled desire to imbue his creation with life. In a gesture of despair, Olivier de Sagazan sculpts clay on his head, burying himself in the material, eradicating his identity and becoming a living work of art, somewhere between marionette and puppeteer. But when the material blinds him and he is forced to look inwards, into the very depths of his Self. In a fascinating, expressive, total performance, Sagazan shifts identities on stage, from man to animal and from animal to various hybrid creatures. He pierces, erases and unravels the layers of his face in a frenetic and uninhibited quest. Painting and sculpting oneself becomes a form of ritual positioned between dance and trance where improvisation is essential. Transfiguration gives a new meaning to the notion of life, offering captivating, disturbing, moving insights into the possibility and unpredictabilities of morphogenesis. There I have a hominid face, then suddenly i become a dog, bird, reptile, fish. And there I sink, more and more indefinable, Unnameable. " it's there, maybe there, further away, looking for, looking again... " "I am flabbergasted to see the degree to which people think its normal to be alive. Disfigurement in art is a way to bring us face to face with real life !" We can find him, both on stage and in the movies: Ron Frick's Samsara, Nick Antosca's Channel Zero. In a video clip with Mylène Farmer, FKA Twigs, De Sagazan collaborated with Nick Knight and Gareth Pugh on a fashion film and soon in the movies: Discarnate by Mario Sorrenti and The Mute by Bartosz Konopka ... http://olivierdesagazan.com

'Fraudulent Marriages'

00:41
I would like to see 'Fraudulent Marriages' to be made an illegal act in the UK with automatic deportation, a hefty fine and maybe incarceration. With the advent of the World Wide Web , 'Internet Dating', 'Personal Introductory 'sites and 'Marriage Agencies' are dominating the Internet especially with Foreign Nationals, like Thailand, Russia, Ukraine and African. British men and women are prime targets when it comes to marriage fraud as their spouse will receive a full 'British Passport' and 'Ancillary Relief' when they divorce their spouse which could also be of a substantial amount for a short marriage, depending on their financial status. http://www.esrc.ac.uk/my-esrc/grants/RES-000-22-4022/outputs/Read/5a98a999-ebf6-4d94-b32e-4d301c4937a8

BlankTV.com! *** Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/David-Ford/e/B001LHQ0PA/ Artist City, Country: London, England, UK Artist Biography: With four critically-acclaimed studio albums and a live show defined by the British music press as “unmissable,” David Ford is essential listening for anyone who gives a damn about music. Ford's songs combine Americana, English melodies and a touch of rock 'n' roll, tied together with finely-crafted lyrics. His emotive stories of social commentary, politics and love in a world going to hell are powerful, engaging and hark back to an era of classic songwriting. Think Tom Waits, Neil Young and Randy Newman. From raw-throated passion to delicate piano balladry, Ford's music is intelligent, witty and authoritative. Hailing from the South Coast of England, Ford has been lauded by press and public alike throughout his decade-long solo career. His debut album, 'I Sincerely Apologise for all the Trouble I've Caused', was included in both The Times and Word Magazine's top ten albums of the year and his latest album, 'Charge', was described by press as his “best album to date. ” His records have achieved number one slots on iTunes and in February 2014, a bizarre twist of fate saw him travelling to Paris to receive the French Grammy award for song of the year. Ford ended 2014 with a sell-out tour of the UK backed by a string quartet, playing selections from his new mini-album, The Arrangement. Then in a shift of direction that has come to typify his uniquely eclectic brand of creativity, Ford toured the UK in May 2015 with a show he called “The One-Man Full-Band Show”. This featured Ford playing an entire stage full of instruments linked together by a home-made array of loop machines and triggering devices that helped him produce a full-on rock show played by one person. A multi-instrumentalist and master of the loop pedal, Ford's mesmerising live performances regularly sell-out venues on both sides of the Atlantic. As well as playing headline shows to his devoted and loyal fan base, he has toured with and supported artists such as Elvis Costello, Ray LaMontagne, Aimee Mann, Sara Bareilles, Gomez, Aqualung, Richard Ashcroft, Suzanne Vega, Augustana, Ingrid Michaelson and Jakob Dylan. Despite countless plaudits, the songwriter flies below the radar for many, a subject he has documented in a book entitled, I Choose This – How To Nearly Make It In The Music Industry. Yet Ford's exquisite songwriting and powerful live performances ensure he remains one of the UK's most important singer/songwriters in the eyes of critics and genuine music lovers. Iron Maiden - Sports Palace, Mexico City, Mexico, Oct. 2, 1992, during the '' Fear Of The Dark Tour'' 1992. Afraid To Shoot Strangers (Harris) Bruce Dickinson:Vocals Steve Harris:Bass Janick Gers:Guitar Dave Murray:Guitar Nicko McBrain:Drums [Lyrics] Lying awake at night I wipe the sweat from my brow But it's not the fear 'cause I'd rather go now Trying to visualise the horrors that will lay ahead The desert sand mound a burial ground When it comes to the time, are we partners in crime? When it comes to the time, we'll be ready to die God let us go now and finish what's to be done Thy Kingdom come, thy shall be done... on Earth Trying to justify to ourselves the reasons to go Should we live and let live, forget or forgive? But how can we let them go on this way? The reign of terror corruption must end And we know deep down there's no other way No trust, no reasoning, no more to say Afraid, afraid to shoot strangers ........................................... 'Afraid To Shoot Strangers' is a song from Iron Maiden's album ''Fear Of The Dark'',released in 1992. Bruce Dickinson told the crowd at the Live At Donington concert what this song is about: ''[This song] was written about the people that fought in the Gulf War. It's a song about how shitty war is, and how shitty war is that it's started by politicians and has to be finished by ordinary people that don't really want to kill anybody. ''(Bruce Dickinson - 22nd August 1992) Unlike most war songs that usually deal with the combat itself, like 'The Trooper', or with its terrible consequences, like 'The Aftermath' or Metallica's 'One', 'Afraid To Shoot Strangers' takes us into the mind of a soldier preparing for battle. Although he is nothing but an anonymous element of the powerful tool used by the government of his country and known as the Army, he remains human, with his feelings and his doubts. He's "trying to visualise the horrors that will lay ahead", the main one being the fact that he probably will have to kill (hence, "afraid to shoot strangers"). These verses are probably the worst written since those of 'Quest For Fire', with the dinosaurs walking the earth at the same time as Man. Not only in retrospect, but even at the time, it was obvious that the First Gulf War was not about ending a dictatorship, but about protecting (and controlling) the crude oil drilling in Kuwait. There's a "reign of terror, corruption" in many other countries, but no one is interested enough in ending any of them in any way. Steve's lyrics sound here like the headlines of The Sun or any other disgustingly jingoistic tabloid "trying to justify to [the gullible population] the reasons to go." It is obvious that the use of force can be necessary in certain situations and that "we know deep down there's no other way", but in the case of this particular war, such justification doesn't stand a close examination of the real reasons to engage in a conflict. What is a fantastic song musically is quite sadly somehow ruined by lyrics that seem to condone a rather dubious international action. '' 'Fear of the Dark' is the ninth studio album released by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. It topped the UK albums chart. Released on 11 May 1992, it was the final studio album to feature Bruce Dickinson as lead vocalist who left the band following the album's support tour to pursue a solo career. He was succeeded by Blaze Bayley, formerly of Wolfsbane, for two studio albums until Dickinson returned to Iron Maiden for the 2000 release of Brave New World.

Wedding Photographer London - Special Photographs On The Day Help You Remember Details

03:34
http://www.pixcellence.co.uk/wedding-photographers/wedding-photographer-london/ Call 0800 9788 246 Wedding Photographer London Services Selecting the right wedding photographer for the City of London can be a daunting task. There are many creative service providers to choose from and deciding the best one for your occasion can be very confusing. Remember, weddings are a onetime occasion in a life that a couple needs to handle with a lot of care. Working with nonprofessionals who have the right equipment, but lack experience, can ruin things as these pictures are probably going to remain in your family for generations to come. Here are some tips to help you select the right photographer for your special wedding ceremony in London. Research Online Before That Day Most weddings service providers have taken their business online where they can reach a wider range of customers. From the internet, it will be easy locating a photographer around your area. While you are at it, you can take some time and read about the general pricing trend and other details. Wedding photographers will include their contact information on their websites and all questions about the service will be answered in person on any day. Photographing Skills There are various ways to take wedding images and it's only wise to work with a service provider that knows what they are doing and who has shot many weddings. Go through different websites and learn a thing or two about wedding photographs in order to get a better idea of what is involved. For instance, some people prefer working with portraiture photography where photos are taken in the form of portraits. Documentary type of photography involves taking natural moments where you and your loved ones don't necessarily have to pose on that day. The right service provider should also be able to customize their services to fit your individual needs. Ask about the different types of wedding ceremonies that they have covered. Are they familiar with weddings in London or have they done most of their work in the English countryside? Are they familiar working with at historic locations such as the royal castles? Equipment is also important, do they keep spare batteries, lens and cameras. Is the photographer up to date with the latest technology. It is essential that all this is checked, this is often someting the grooms happy to ask about. Check Their Wedding Portfolio Going through a portfolios of wedding photographs at the interview stage will be a great way to determine whether the photojournalist is the right one for you or not on the day. Don't settle for the ones of couples you see on their websites as they are likely to have posted only the best ones from the day. Go through their album to get a feel of the style to expect from the event. Do you like the use of lighting, are there candid shots, images of the cake cutting and the attractions such as the brides beautiful flowers (florists can often recommend a good photographer) and all the fashion shots of the guests and other events? Negotiate On Price Not all professionals will have a fixed price or time for their services. Find out whether your choice photojournalist is able to reduce their price before the D day. Talk to them about how long they will be with you and how much they will be charging for the photos. Planning the day is important, will they follow you and your guests to the reception at the hotels for a photo shoot or will they simply use their camera to capture the wedding at the church and then leave the married couple alone or are they with you all the time until you leave for yoour honeymoon? This makes it easy for you to set aside a budget for the service, improving your experience with them and making sure you have a lifetime of memories. Discuss the Terms and Conditions Before finalizing the deal offer, make a list of all your plans, make sure you have understood all the terms and conditions. For instance, find out whether the service provider requires you to add watermarks to snaps incase you decide to upload them. Will they be uploading your snaps to their websites? Are you okay with this? Make sure you find out everything there is to know about the photo service before getting the service. https://plus.google.com/u/0/118314315992449656246/posts Pixcellence -- London Century Club, 61 to 63 Shaftsbury Avenue London W1D 6LQ United Kingdom Telephones Office: 0800 9788 246 http://www.pixcellence.co.uk/wedding-photographers/wedding-photographer-london/

Hang gliding over a road is Crazy

I have a few questions. 1) This video has been up for well over a year, but suddenly its getting a lot of views. Why is that? 2) Why are the comments so fucked up? Did I insult hanggliding anywhere? Its not a common thing for me to have people hangliding 20 feet about me on a road that I am driving on. Not everyone lives in Ellenville. Get over yourselves. We get it, its cool, but its not that fuckin cool.

As it is in Heaven (Så Som I Himmelen) - Gabriellas Sång

03:40
One of the most beautiful movies ever! A successful international conductor suddenly interrups his career and returns alone to his childhood village in Norrland, in the far north of Sweden. It doesn't take long before he is asked to come and listen to the fragment of a church choir, which practises every Thursday in the parish hall. Just come along and give a little bit of good advice. He can't say no, and from that moment, nothing in the village is the same again. The choir develops and grows. He makes both friends and enemies. And he finds love. Song: Gabriellas Sång

http://lukeford.net/blog/?p=3119 Ask a woman out on a date. What a concept! This means, don't just say, "Oh, by the way, I'm going to a party Saturday night, want to come?" This also means, don't send an e-mail (or worse, a text message) saying, "Hey, wanna do coffee sometime?" It means phone her or say to her in person, very specifically: "I'd love to take you out. Garry Kasparov vs Jaan Ehlvest "Ehlvest Has Left the Building" (chessgames.com game of the day May-15-09) Baku 1978 · Sicilian Defense: Najdorf. Polugayevsky Variation (B96) On Saturday, 30th August, from 11.30 a.m. to 5.45 p.m. We are returning to the Walgrave Arms, 40-42 Brendon Street, Marylebone W1H 5HE, where our April social was held. This pub is used regularly by the Kings Head Chess Club. It is within easy reach of Edgeware Road, Marble Arch and Paddington stations. People of all ages are welcome to attend; however, anyone under 18 must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult. What does it cost? There is no charge for coming along to the social. Those attending are, of course, responsible for purchasing their own food and drink. So, what actually happens at a social? Chessworld socials are friendly, informal events. Some people come mainly to play chess, others prefer to socialise and play the occasional game. Some non-playing friends or relatives like to spend the time visiting the sights or doing a bit of shopping. You can drop in whenever you like, and stay for as long or as short a time as you want to. What about the chess? There is plenty of that! Most games are informal, just ask someone if they'd like a game. It doesn't matter if they're much stronger or much weaker than you! Some people like to use clocks, but most games have no time limits. There is no competition, and games played at the social will not, of course, have any effect on your chessworld rating. If you are new to socials, I will personally greet you, and will also find your first opponent for you if you wish. Anything Else? Yes -- there will also be a quiz and some puzzles for those quiet moments between games (these are of course optional!) And this year -- the World Premiere of the Great Chess:Checkers Challenge! (What IS the Great Chess:Checkers Challenge, did you ask? You'll have to come to the Social to find out!) Do I need to bring anything? Yourself! Plus a chess set if you have one that you can carry easily. But if you don't, please do still come; there will be quite a few spare sets around that anyone can use. What was that about a meal? The social at the Walgrave Arms is of course the main event of the day. However, some people like to stay on a bit longer and have a bite to eat. It's also a chessworld tradition to play a communal game of chess during the meal! We have booked tables for 20 people at a nearby Italian restaurant, Bizzarro, at 18 Craven Road W2 3PX. Places will be allocated strictly on a first come, first served basis. Please message me directly as soon as possible if you do wish to come to the meal. For the sake of fairness, we will not be able to accommodate more than one guest per member at the meal. Here is the restaurant's website: ( http://www.bizzarro.co.uk/aboutus.php ) I'm coming from a long way off. Where can I stay? There is, of course, plenty of accommodation in London. We are not able to recommend a particular place, but try typing "London hotels", "cheap accommodation in London", etc. etc. into your favourite search engine for some ideas. I have another question Excellent! Please message me directly with any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer. If you've never been to a social before, please do consider coming along. A lot of people naturally feel nervous meeting for the first time people they've only ever spoken to online; but we are very friendly, and always like to see new faces! I look forward to seeing you on 30th August! Also features a Kasparov vs Ehlvest game from 1978: [Event "Azerbaijan tt"] [Site "Baku"] [Date "1978.11.??"] [Round "2"] [White "Kasparov, Garry"] [Black "Ehlvest, Jaan"] [Result "1-0"] [ECO "B96"] [PlyCount "75"] [EventDate "1978.??.??"] ...
