How To Fix A Slipping Treadmill Belt

05:24
I show how to repair a treadmill walking belt that slips or stops sometimes when your foot comes down as you are running or walking. The most common reasons for this are a loose walking belt, or friction between the deck and the belt. It is also possible that the drive belt is damaged or worn out. Or if could be the walking belt itself is worn out. This treadmill is my Sole F85 with over 2200 miles on it. ▶ SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE 🔔 http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 👍 And please give my video a thumbs up 👍 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

How To True A Bike Wheel Without A Truing Stand

08:13
Not everyone has an expensive truing stand. So I show how to true bicycle wheels with the wheel mounted on the bike. This is just simple truing and assumes the wheel is in good shape and just has a little bit of side to side wobble. If the wheel has more serious issues, truing an be much more involved. * When I say "clockwise" and "counter-clockwise" in the video, the reference point is looking at the nipple from the spoke side of the rim. The side where you are actually turning the wrench. Not from inside of the tire. These are the Park Tool spoke wrenches that I use: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000C15EMG/ref=nosim/youtube25-20 If you want a professional level truing stand, this is what you want. How To Remove A Stuck Fixed Cup From Bike Bottom Bracket

03:12
I show how to remove a stubborn stuck fixed cup from a bike bottom bracket. I use a homemade tool consisting of a 5/8" bolt, some washers and a nut. Sheldon Brown talked about this method on his website. There are other methods also, but this is a good one. This bike is a vintage Schwinn. This method also works for right hand threaded fixed cups such as on vintage Italian and French bikes, by turning the wrench on the non drive side. Freewheel vs Cassette - What Are They? Can I Convert?

06:43
I show close up the differences between freewheels and cassettes. I also show how they mount to the wheel. Hopefully this will help people identify whether they have a cassette or a freewheel. Freewheels usually have 5 - 7 cogs and screw on to the hub. Modern cassettes (like Shimano Hyperglide) usually have 7 - 11 cogs and are held onto a ratcheting freehub body with a lock ring. There was an older Shimano cassette called Uniglide that was held on the freehub body with the smallest cog acting as the lock ring. Uniglide cassettes are not very common anymore. ▶ SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE 🔔 http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 👍 And please give my video a thumbs up 👍 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com/shirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

How To Remove Stuck Seatpost In Minutes With Slide Hammer

03:15
I show how to remove a seized seatpost from a bike frame using a 10lb slide hammer. I borrowed the slide hammer from a local auto parts store after paying a deposit. Be sure to get a 10lb slide hammer as I don't think a 5lb slide hammer will deliver enough force. The aluminum seat post was likely frozen in the steel frame due to galvanic corrosion. I had been spraying it liberally with Kano Kroil penetrating oil. I manged to unstick the seatpost in just a couple minutes. You may need to connect the slide hammer to the seat post in a different manner. Possibly drilling a hole through the side of the seatpost and attaching a chain on each side with a bolt going through the post. Or whatever works for your situation. It only took a couple minutes for me to remove the seapost. Now I can repair the bike. How To Fix Shifter Not Catching/Clicking - Won't Shift

03:36
I show how to easily fix many indexing type shifters that won't shift. In this case it's a road bike STI brifter, but it also works for mountain bike trigger shifters as well. Where the shifter just isn't catching. The pawls get stuck with old grease. I just clean out the old grease with WD-40 and then lube the shifter with Tri-Flo. It only took a couple minutes to get the shifter working like new. I have heard of bike shops telling people the shifters were broken and needed to be replaced, but the people tried this method and got them working again. How To Make A Freehub Body Disassembly Tool

03:15
This is my homemade freehub body disassembly tool. It was cheap and easy to make. This is used to remove the cup/cone from a Shimano freehub body. Shimano used to make a tool for this (Shimano Cassette Hub Race Remover TL-FH40), but they are hard to find now. So I made this one out of an old socket. 13/16" or 21mm sockets are a good choice. I bought these sockets at a junk shop for 75 cents each. To make the tool, I used a bench grinder and a file. I also used a caliper to measure the width of the prongs. I have seen some others made out of a piece of pipe, but I like this design better. Old sockets are cheap. You can even buy a new for just a few dollars. And I can use it with my ratchet wrench. The tool should last a long time. How To Rebuild Snap-On Ratchet Wrench With Repair Kit

10:16
I show how to rebuild a Snap-On ratchet wrench with a repair kit. I bought this Snap-On F720 ratchet wrench at a flea market. It was a little beat up and the mechanism was a little loose. It's somewhat vintage. According to the date code, it was made in 1977. So I bought a repair kit (RKRAF730). The kit contained all the internal parts including a new name plate and even a small tube of Super Lube. The kit replaces all the internal parts of the wrench. The tool I used to hold the ball bearing during assembly was a Snap On SPP744. It appears that tool is not longer available online. Checking Bike Frame Alignment With String

I show how to check the alignment of a bicycle frame using just a piece of string and a ruler. This is not as accurate as using an actual frame alignment gauge, but is cheap and easily available. Coaster Brake Hub - What's Inside? How Does It Work? Cutaway View!

07:09
I show how a bicycle coaster brake hubs works, including a cutaway shot of the hub so you can see the inside of it as it is working. A bike with a coaster brake hub goes forward when you pedal forward, coasts like a freewheel when you stop pedaling, and brakes when you pedal backwards. They are usually single speed, but there are some internally geared hubs that have coaster brakes. A couple things I forgot to mention. The arm is attached to the chain stay to hold the axle from turning. Other wise the whole axle would rotate in the dropouts when you hit the brakes. The teeth between the clutch and drive side expander allow clutch to lock in to the expander so that all the force from the backpedal goes into pushing the expander into the brake shoes. The cranks stop when it has pushed the shoes as far as they will go. The hub in the video is a Bendix 76. Other coaster brakes may be slightly different on the inside, especially the clutch. But the concepts are probably are going to be the same with driver, clutch, and expanders. And thanks to R Community Bikes for supplying the hub: https://rcommunitybikes.org ▶ SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE 🔔 http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 👍 And please give my video a thumbs up 👍 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

How To Repair Scratchy Noisy Volume Control Or Tone Control

03:08
Volume controls, tone controls, etc, can get dirty and gunked up over time. They can develop oxidation. This leads the static noise and you turn the dials on on radios, computer speakers or whatever type of electronic device you have with knobs. Sometimes the sound cuts out altogether. They also get sticky so they don't turn freely. I show you how to clean and lubricate these controls to make them sound better, move smoothly, and quiet the static. In the video I am fixing computer speakers, but it's just the same to fix radios, electric guitars, guitar amps or whatever. The only difference is the taking it apart. They will still have a potentiometer that is dirty. I recommend using control cleaner. I used Radio Shack Control Cleaner, bu unfortunately most Radio Shacks have closed. I think you can still order it online. Anotehr option is DeoxIT D5 or F5. https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006LVEU/ref=nosim/youtube25-20 or https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006LVF1/ref=nosim/youtube25-20 I get people asking if other stuff will work. I use control cleaner because it is made for the application. If you want to know if alcohol, water, WD-40, or any liquid, you go ahead an try it. It's your device, so feel free to damage it. ▶ SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE 🔔 http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 👍 And please give my video a thumbs up 👍 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

Shimano Front Freewheel System (FFS) What is it? How Does It Work?

Years ago Shimano created a drivetrain called Front Freeweel System, or FFS for short. You don't have to be pedalling to shift. You can shift while coasting. How To Install 7 Speed Cassette On 8/9/10 Speed Hub

05:08
I show what you need to do to mount a 7 speed cassette on to a bike wheel hub designed to fit 8, 9 or 10 speed cassettes. It involves mounting a 4.5mm spacer onto the hub. But you may need to file notches into the spacer to avoid having the cassette wobble. The wobble is caused by uneven rivets. I found these on Shimano cassettes. ▶ SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE 🔔 http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 👍 And please give my video a thumbs up 👍 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

How To Make A Bike Repair Stand DIY

03:40
Here is my home made bike work stand. I would love a nice Park Tool bike stand, but they are pretty pricey. It was a lot cheaper to build my own. I have been using this stand to work on my bikes for at five years or more, and it still works great. The basic design can easily be modified for your own needs. The latch is called a "straight loop draw latch". I originally bought it at Lowes, but am not seeing them there now. I don't see them at Home Depot either. But I found a bunch on Amazon and other online places. How To Fix STI Shifters (Brifters) That Won't Shift

05:36
This is an easy fix. These STI shifters (integrated brake/shifters or brifters) were advertised on eBay as not shifting. I bought them at a good price, knowing I could probably repair them. When I got them, they had the problem I they would have where the pawls just don't seem to catch. Most times when shifters don't shift (trigger shifters, STI shifters), the problem is the pawls get stuck with old grease. The old stiff grease just needs to be cleaned out and the shifter re-lubricated. It's an easy fix. In this video, I clean out the old grease using degreaser, and then lube the shifter with Tri-Flow Superior Lubricant. ▶ SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE 🔔 http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 👍 And please give my video a thumbs up 👍 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com

How To Clean Battery Corrosion From Contacts (Alkaline Batteries)

03:16
This is how to clean the blue-green-white corrosion from battery contacts caused by alkaline batteries. You can save those expensive electronic gadgets, and not have to throw them away. Our carbon monoxide detector started beeping with a low battery signal. When i went to replace the batteries, I found there was corrosion on the battery contacts. Not sure if the batteries had leaked, or what. Fortunately, it wasn't too big of a mess in the battery compartment. So I cleaned the corrosion off, and made a video at the same time. ▶ SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE 🔔 http://bit.ly/SubRJTheBikeGuy 👍 And please give my video a thumbs up 👍 ▶FACEBOOK.com/RJTheBikeGuy https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy ▶TOOLS http://www.rjthebikeguy.com/tools ▶SHIRTS http://bit.ly/RJBikeGuyShirts ▶WEBPAGE http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com
